I’ve tried my own interpretation of fairy tales before. Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Red Riding Hood, even Hansel and Gretel. But this one is about one of my favorite songs.
Writing a story inspired by another piece of work is always an artistically challenging exercise for me that I enjoy trying to reach. I want to honor the source by hitting the major plot points, which traps me within certain parameters, but I also want to make it completely new and original. Honestly, though, I’d just be happy if it ended up falling somewhere around “interesting twist to a familiar story.”
And that was my main goal behind writing The Quiet.

First Impressions
The Quiet is the most recent release from Linda Kage and is also a standalone so you can easily read this on its own if you are new to this author. Linda Kage has become a personal favorite when it comes to contemporary and especially new adult romance. I absolutely adore the combination of elements that she delivers into a story and she really writes the most come to life characters that I have ever read. The Quiet was a delighter, interracial romance that delved into relatable issues and brings together the most unlikely couple that have the most beautiful connection that resonates deeply. The Quiet is a beautiful small town romance that I couldn't get enough of.

Mariana Ruiz, a hispanic young woman who is mute from a trauma she experienced as a child. She is intelligent, a poet and sees the beauty in human contact, joy and nature.
Summary
Zac Topper came to the small town of Peril when he was but a young boy and his mother was being abused by her boyfriend. This was to be a fresh start for them. But Zac in his growing years was treated like an outcast of sorts, bullied and treated horribly and the town believes his bullies over him and thus created a bad reputation and only works the jobs that no one wants to do to support himself and his mother. Then we have Mari, who became a mute due to the trauma of losing her parents in a car accident and Mari has a sweet loving spirit. Instantly she is drawn to Zac and has the urge to bring him love and affection as its apparent he is starved for human touch and connection. Zac and Mari instantly grow together when they find common ground and connect over the beauty in the nature surrounding them. But as they build their relationship, there are enemies that wish to separate them and only by believing in each other will they rise above the storm ahead...
What I Loved
I really adored the way in which we see these two come together. From the very beginning, I was all in for these two to be together. Their meet cute was so heartfelt and real and I instantly gravitated towards these two who deserve so much and have been treated so poorly in this small town. Especially in how the law enforcement treated Zac especially but seeing his strength and courage and determination to work hard and provide for himself and his mother was poignant at times. Then we have the way that Mari is with Zac. She sees the good soul that he is and always believes in him. She has such a sweet caring nature that heals the wounds of bad treatment that Zac has felt. Seeing these two lost come together and find such common ground with each other was truly endearing. And their connection to the nature around them and their poetry was instantly so deep and I related so much with some of their talks they have with each other. This is definitely one of the most profound romances I have ever seen this author write and it left me so satisfied and happy as a clam for what these two find together.
What I Struggled With
Not much to be honest, I wish that there had been a bit more justice in the wrongs committed against the couple a bit. But it didn't really reflect badly on the story itself.
Overall View
I found The Quiet to be a heartfelt romance that tugged at the heartstrings in deep pivotal ways. Its a story of healing, growth, and the power of connection amidst a setting of distrust and loneliness.

Bon, aujourd'hui, je vous parle d'une lecture plutôt mitigée et je suis triste car j'aime beaucoup ce que fait l'autrice habituellement. ᴛʜᴇ ꜱɪʟᴇɴᴄᴇ ʙᴇᴛᴡᴇᴇɴ ᴜꜱ est mon quatrième roman de Linda Kage et ma première déception. La raison principale est simple, l'overdose de spicy que contient cette histoire. 🙈 J'ai trouvé que cela prenait trop de place au point d'en écraser l'histoire qui pour moi ne s'est vraiment développée qu'au dernier quart. 🥺⠀

Zack sait très bien ce qu’on raconte sur lui : il aurait passé le plus clair de son temps en prison et serait capable du pire si on venait à le contrarier… C’est à cause de ces rumeurs qu’il galère à trouver un boulot et à subvenir aux besoins de sa famille. Ces derniers jours, tout ce qui lui importe, c’est Mariana. Chaque fois qu’il croise le regard de cette jeune serveuse, son corps se couvre de frissons...⠀

En fait, j'ai eu l'impression d'être face à deux ados découvrant la sexualité, explorant les contours d'un amour qui peinait à s'épanouir. L'histoire se concentre uniquement là-dessus et m'a lassé au fil de la lecture, je l'avoue. Pourtant, j'ai beaucoup aimé l'ambiance small town de l'histoire ainsi que le twist (qui arrive tout de même beaucoup trop tard et dont on devine toutes les ficelles). On ressens l'amour pur des héros, j'aurais juste aimé qu'il transparaisse un peu différemment...⠀

Dans les points positifs, je citerai le handicap de notre héroïne, qui donne une certaine profondeur aux émotions. J'aime beaucoup ce genre de thématique dans les romances et ce fut donc le cas ici ! Le côté spicy prenant trop de place a empêché de travailler la construction profonde des personnages, et là aussi malheureusement, ça m'a un peu manqué. ⠀

Plongez dans The Silence between us pour partir à la découverte de deux âmes brisées qui pouraient ne faire qu'un face à l'adversité. Cette romance c'est une histoire de resilience, de pardon, d'injustice mais surtout d'un amour salvateur.
Zack Topper est la bête noire de Peril au Nebraska. Il est victime collatérale d'une réputation infondée et injustifiée. Il paie le prix fort pour les actes de sa mère Grace et jamais il n'aura droit à une rédemption ou des excuses de la part de tous ceux qui l'ont humilié ou arrêté. Personne ne lui fait confiance et pourtant une seule personne lui ouvrira son coeur. Elle aussi est un peu rejetée par la ville mais pas pour les mêmes raisons. J'ai eu mal au coeur en le voyant avec sa mère car elle ne se rend pas compte de sa souffrance quotidienne. Harvey l'emploie dans son garage mais ne lui fait pas confiance, Lula est démoniaque avec lui pour des raisons qui n'ont rien à voir avec lui. Il n'a ni ami ni soutien jusqu'à ce que cette jeune femme entre dans sa vie. C'est fusionnel, c'est sensuel mais c'est surtout salvateur. Il la voit comme elle le voit et leur amour pourrait être parfait si les astres ne venaient pas s'en mêler.
Mariana Ruiz a une grand famille pourtant ses parents lui manquent. Elle est muette depuis ce drame et elle est plus seule que jamais. Sa famille est étouffante et elle n'a pas sa place à elle. Elle doit sans cesse se "sacrifier" pour le bien commun mais qui fait réellement attention à elle. Au diner où elle travaille, elle n'est pas considérée à sa juste valeur. Elle vit dans une cage, pas dorée du tout, et sa seul lumière sera Zack. Il est son crush mais il est avant tout quelqu'un qui l'écoute et la voit telle qu'elle est. Ce sera très fusionnel entre eux et je regrette toutefois l'excès de scènes intimes très crues qui n'étaient pas forcément nécessaires. La fusion des corps d'accord mais c'est vraiment le seul bémol pour moi dans cette romance. Sa vie sera un long chemin semé d'embûches et on espère qu'elle aura le droit à sa fin heureuse.
Bref, la plume de Linda Kage est très intéressante. J'ai beaucoup aimé cette romance, à part le petit bémol dont je vous ai parlé, et j'ai trouvé les thèmes abordés très intéressants. Une romance contemporaine forte en émotions.

Je suis tombée sur ce livre par le plus grand des hasards et son résumé m'a tout de suite intéressé et je dois dire que j'ai adoré ma lecture. Je suis une grande fan des tropes un peu "grumpy x sunshine" même si je ne peux pas entièrement dire que Zac soit réellement un "grumpy". J'ai adoré son personnage, son caractère, son évolution. Tout comme celui de Mariana. Ils étaient faits l'un pour l'autre et se complétaient si bien. Pour résumer leur relation, je dirais que la phrase "she fell first but he fell harder" les décrit très très bien.
J'ai adoré la plume de Linda Kage (c'est le premier livre que je lis de cette autrice), c'est fluide et on rentre directement dans l'histoire. On adore les personnages, on a envie d'en découvrir plus.

Je n'ai pas été très surprise par la fin des événements et des révélations sur la personne qui a fait du mal à Mariana, c'était quelque chose qu'on pouvait deviner très facilement, mais étrangement ça ne m'a pas dérangé dans la lecture. Habituellement je déteste deviner les choses aussi rapidement mais ce livre est une exception. Je suis également agréablement surprise que Mariana ne retrouve pas la parole, dès que j'ai lu qu'il y avait une chance que ça puisse arriver, je me suis dis que d'ici la fin, elle la retrouverait par amour, mais non. C'est Zac qui doit apprendre la langue des signes, etc... et je trouve ça davantage plus beau et significatif. L'amour qu'il se porte l'un à l'autre est vraiment incroyable et cela faisait un petit bout de temps que je n'avais pas autant apprécié un couple dans un livre.
The Silence Between Us ou The Quiet (oui j'ai vu qu'il y avait deux titres) est une très jolie romance que je recommande à tout le monde de lire. C'est une lecture agréable, très jolie, sans grosse prise de tête et cela fait du bien. D'autant plus que les deux personnages principaux sont bien écrits et ont une alchimie des plus jolies.

Le résumé m’a donné envie d’ouvrir la porte de cette romance. L’histoire si elle reste classique, tout repose sur l’alchimie et la complicité qui unit les héros. On ne peut pas faire plus opposer et pourtant, par un hasard qui fait bien les choses leur rencontre va bouleverser leur vie à tous les deux.
Zack est un écorché vif, un jeune homme qui a la rage de vivre mais qui est enfermé dans une ville qu’il déteste et dont les gens ont appris à le détester en retour. Quant à Mariana, c’est une jeune fille qui vit au sein d’une famille communautaire. Une héroïne gentille, un peu naïve et sans histoire. Mariana entend mais elle est muette. Malgré ce handicap, elle va nouer avec Zack une relation que j’ai trouvé fusionnelle.
Leur histoire est belle, douce et tragique à la fois. Une sorte de La Belle et la Bête des temps modernes. Zack est mal vu dans leur petite ville et n’a jamais été accepté. Il a d’ailleurs tout fait pour que cela soit le cas. Il rêve de quitter cet endroit qu’il honni pour une vie meilleure mais il reste coincé à cause de sa mère.

Linda Kage possesses the ability to write beautiful, intriguing, romantic, yet heart-wrenching books.
"The Quiet" is an incredible book that portrays the story of Mariana and Zac, two misunderstood individuals rejected for different reasons. But the way they connect is instant chemistry. We get to know their inexperienced sides, but end up with a very lovely character development.
"This river couldn't contain all the feelings I have for you"
Reading their story was enchanting; the book truly is a roller coaster of emotions. You laugh, you cry, you experience love, and there are also many, many spicy scenes—you never truly get enough.
At the beginning, I thought my interest in the plot's development would wane for the first half of the book, but truly, the events just keep unfolding, and you never tire. Just when you think nothing more can happen, the emotional twist surprises you and takes a new turn.
Mariana is Mexican, and I had a great time reading about her and her relationship with her grandma and cousins. As a Mexican myself, it was interesting to see this character development.
A truly beautiful read to spend a good time with, easy and simple to read. Linda Kate, I never tire of reading you— you did it again.

Mariana is Mexican, and I had a great time reading about her and her relationship with her grandma and cousins. As a Mexican myself, it was interesting to see this character development.
A truly beautiful read to spend a good time with, easy and simple to read. Linda Kate, I never tire of reading you— you did it again.

This book was beautiful! The level of depth of both our MC's is incredible. Its not the typical good girl bad boy romance. It is very much a story of two misunderstood and unseen people that finally found their person. There was definitely a mild undertone of a mystery/thriller as well that I thought was very well written.
And the spice.... Just wow.. Definitely one of Linda Kage's more spicy books. Overall a very emotionally packed, sweet and spicy book that I absolutely loved! Thank you Linda!

The way I love love stories where one (or both) of the characters are wounded or disabled. Y’all. I grabbed this book without even reading the blurb. I was just immediately “yes please”. So I didn’t discover that Mari was mute until I started reading it and the speed at which became engaged with the story was nearly supersonic. Immediately invested.
And I adored Mari. I loved how fierce and independent she was. How she found ways to communicate despite her disability. I loved the sweet way she first met Zac, and the crush she carried for him for years after that. The two of them together were sweetness and fire personified.
That said, the story itself felt a little repetitive to me, and maybe just a little too heavy on their physical connection. The majority of their relationship involves the same series of events, and I think I wanted more…lightness from them. More flirty banter. More playfulness, conversation, depth. Additionally, this was the kind of story where all the cards were stacked against them and things went from bad to worse, to worst. I struggle with that sense of hopelessness, and I feel like it was lacking on that triumphant redemptive moment in the end. I mean, it was there, but it was quieter and given after the fact, rather than anyone getting a comeuppance for the way they treated Zac and Mari (but mostly Zac) throughout the story.
In all, it was a good story. It was interesting. I’m glad I read it. I think many readers will enjoy it. But it was a little bit of a mixed bag that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. ~ Shelly, 3 stars

This is actually a 4.8 stars but lo redondeé. 🥰
Okaaaaaay, where do I even start? Maybe from the fact that the end made my cry for some weird reason?
I chose to believe it was because Mariana and Zac’ journey was full of emotions. They did let emotions guide them for more than one or two times and Linda Kage has a very interesting way of writing intense romances.
This is one in particular in some ways lacked the dramatism (don’t know if that’s a word lmao but you get it) that I tend to relate to her work, there were a couple of times where I thought she was going some direction but she ended up going far way from it (I will not discussed them because that would be spoiler and I do not write Linda’s reviews with spoilers !!!). And do not get me wrong, I actually liked it. Not knowing where any of it would end.
There is also a couple Linda did not get into but ever since I watched Supernatural I’m all about ✨ subtext ✨. I already talked to her about it, actually.
NOW THE IMPORTANT THING !!!!
Mariana is actually named after me 🥰🥰🥰 (jk… unless?) and she is the most genuine loving person in the whole book. Which I ADORED. She is also a badass and stubborn woman who knows what she wants and God, it was pretty refreshing to read about a young woman like that.
And Zac? Lovable. I wanna hug him.
As always, LK does not disappoint and brings me an intense but accurate love story. Thank you for all that you do !!! 🫶🏼

This was my first read from this author and I actually enjoyed this book. The writing was really good.
Zac was literally EVERYTHING!! He was so good to Mari and I loved their mutual pining. I loved how he was so surprised that she was so nice to him and gave him the time of day. He was so in awe of her.
Mari was really sweet and she went after what she wanted and that was Zac. I just hated we found that the cute things they did together weren’t all that special because she had done all the same things with another guy the summer before. Every cute thing she did with Zac like write cute notes and yada yada, she did that with Javier. She said everything she did with Javier she imagined it was Zac because she always wanted him and once she got Zac she redid all the things with him to make true memories. But I didn’t like that explanation and it kind of ruined how sweet I thought everything was. Also they had sex A LOT. It was like all they did.
This book was VERY angsty. A little too angsty. I mean Zac could not catch a break and I wanted justice for him so bad but it never really came. He deserved so much more than how he was treated, even by his mother. Everyone in this book was awful except for Zac, Mari and Felipe.

Une romance new adult touchante qui ne vous laissera pas de marbre.
Ce roman est à destination d’un public averti comprenant de nombreuses scènes explicites.
Je ne connaissais pas la plume de Linda et même si j’ai apprécié ma lecture, je ne sais pas si je lirai d’autres livres de sa main s’il y a autant de smut dans ses autres romans.
L’intrigue elle, était originale. En effet, c’est rare d’avoir affaire à une protagonistes muette. L’histoire était touchante et le rebondissement captivant.
Concernant nos protagonistes, Mari est une jeune femme solaire, un peu nympho sur les bords et têtue. Lorsqu’elle veut quelque chose, elle est habituée à l’avoir. J’ai beaucoup aimé son personnage rafraîchissant.
Zac lui, est le grumpy du grumpy x sunshine. Il a eu le malheur d’être détesté pour des actes qui ne le concerne pas directement et sa malchance est légendaire. Son développement est ce que j’ai le + apprécié, il est doux et respectueux. Mari est vraiment la seconde chance de sa vie.
Ce qui m’a malheureusement freiné dans ma lecture est le nombre incalculable de scènes de smut qui pour la plupart, sont impertinentes. J’ai eu l’impression que le roman en était constitué à 70%, ce qui ne laissait pas beaucoup de place à l’intrigue. Intrigue qui du coup, est très faible.
En bref, c’est une romance parfaite pour les lecteurs de romances spicy avec une touche touchante. Cependant, si comme moi, vous avez besoin d’une intrigue bien présente dans votre lecture, vous n’êtes probablement pas la cible.

I liked the story and the nuances it contains. It's different than a lot of the current reads out now. This story wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. From beginning to end, both characters dealt with so many obstacles, some I didn't understand why they continued to just accept. The "families " they stuck by and around for seemed to not really be worth it. I wanted Zac to let him mom really know and understand the damage she did, the pain she caused, and for her to understand her true selfish nature. He let her off too easy, and I wanted her to grovel a bit. Felipe was the only family member of Mari's that I liked, and that seemed to really have her back. I liked the epilogue but wished that we had actually gotten info on Lula. After what she did to Mari, you'd think it would be a trial or something, so having no idea on her punishment and whereabouts makes no sense to me. I'd want her as far from me and my family as possible at all times whether she got her life together or not. All in all, it was a good and interesting read. Definitely not what I'd call a happy feelgood romance, but they found their happy in a lot of darkness, and that was good too. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Depuis que j'ai découvert la plume de l'auteure, j'ai toujours adoré les romances qu'elle proposait, mais pour celle-ci, je suis plutôt mitigé.
En soi, l'univers proposé est tout ce que j'aime, mais là, je n'ai pas été transporté, l'histoire est assez prévisible à l'avance, ce qui fait qu'on n'est même pas surpris quand le plot twist tombe, et c'est vraiment dommage, car vu ce qu'on nous propose, il y a un potentiel juste énorme et j'aurais adoré ne pas réussir à prévoir tous les événements et l'apprécier à sa juste valeur.
Pour ce qui est de la romance, c'est ce que j'aime, slow burn, forte alchimie et attirance mutuelle, mais j'ai fini par être soûlée au fil des pages, après une scène de smut, il y avait plus que ça dans les chapitres suivants, on avait l'impression que ça ne tournait qu'autour de ça et pour une personne comme moi qui aime le smut spicy dans les romances, là j'ai très vite été gavée et lu ses passages une ligne sur deux pour ne pas abandonner ma lecture.
Même si ce n'est pas le meilleur que j'ai lu de l'auteur, cela ne m'empêchera pas de lire d'autres de ses romans.

"The Quiet" is a fantastic book that tells the narrative of Mariana and Zac, two misunderstood people who were rejected for various reasons. However, they have instant chemistry. We learn about their naive aspects, but the result is a very sweet character development.
Reading their journey was enthralling; the book is an emotional roller coaster. You laugh, cry, fall in love, and there are many, many heated scenes—there is never enough.
I expected my interest in the plot's growth would diminish in the first half of the book, but the events just keep unfolding, and you never tyre of them. Just when you believe nothing else can happen, the emotional twist surprises you and takes a new turn.
I enjoyed learning about her and her relationships with her grandmother and cousins. Family dynamics might be difficult to write about, but Linda did it well.

Une histoire touchant, émouvante qui ma happée car je l'ai lu en moins d'une journée. Le seul petit bémol sont les scènes de smut beaucoup trop nombreuses et qui ne sont pas forcément utile à l'histoire.
Mariana est une jeune fille douce, lumineuse qui vie avec son mutisme depuis la perte de ses parents. Malgré sa grande famille, elle n'arrive pas à trouvé sa place et tout le monde l'a prend pour un personne faible et fragile.
Zach est une jeune homme tendre, attentionné mais toute la ville le rejeté à cause des actions de sa mère et des rumeurs qui court à son sujet, sa ma brisé le cœur car il ne mérite pas cette acharnement.
Leur relation est belle et fusionnel même ci elle évolue trop vite. Chacun évolue au contact de l'autre et ils savent communique entre eux juste avec des regards ou des petites attentions et ils vont surmonté ensemble les obstacles est prouvé à tous qu'il sont fait l'un pour l'autre malgré les préjugés des gens.
L'épilogue montre qu'un amour puissant et sincère peut surmonté toutes les épreuves et que la vie n'est pas un long fleuve tranquille.

Mari is mute, but not deaf, and she’s far from unintelligent. Zac is an outcast who’s nearly universally despised by the denizens of Peril, Nebraska, the decaying, nowhere town where his mother fled with him to when he was seven.
Neither of them have ever fit in, and both are misunderstood and yearn for more out of life than their current circumstances. As it’s a small place, they cannot avoid running into each other and find themselves drawn together.
This is a love story with lots of steamy bits, which I’m all for. The only criticism I have with it is the over the top mannner in which Zac is mistreated and maligned almost to a man by the people of the town. The danger element as well is a lot to take in what was framed as a romance. There’s a great deal more angst than I enjoy, but if that’s your jam then you will love this book.
I was furnished an advance reader copy from the author and booksirens, and I’m happy to share my honest impressions.

- pas mal de smut pour une relation hyper mimi, ça m’a un peu dérangé parce qu’on dirait qu’elle l’aime que pour le sexe alors qu’on SAIT qu’ils ne s’aiment pas que pour ça. Ces scènes là étaient un peu écrite de manière gênante (pas vraiment adapté à leur age)
- Le début ultra mignon, le milieu il se passe pas grand chose à part des scènes de smut, des points qui auraient mérité d’être plus approfondis, et la fin est incroyable
- l’amour de zac pour mari je peux mourir. J’ai adoré son personnage si torturé, c’est un peu l’outsider de la ville mais qui vaut 10x plus que le reste du monde
- la plume de linda kage a cette capacité de me transporter quoiqu’il arrive
- les derniers chapitres m’ont vraiment happé et j’ai lâché quelques larmes en voyant la détresse de Zac

Je suis déçue de cette lecture ☹️
L'histoire avait du potentiel mais malheureusement je ne suis pas rentré dedans.
Je ne me suis pas vraiment attaché aux personnages, Zac encore j'aimais bien sa personnalité et franchement que tout le monde le déteste c'était un peu gros.
Je pensais m'attacher à Marianna car elle est gentille et le fait qu'elle est muette apportait un plus mais j'ai trouvait son personnage entreprenant et pas en adéquation avec sa personnalité.
La relation amoureuse va pour moi trop vite et beaucoup trop spicy. Il y a quand même quelques moment mignons.
J'ai aimé le début et la fin, le milieu m'a lassé 😅.
Ça arrive et ce n'est pas grave.
J'avais tellement aimé The Revenge Plan mais c'est complètement différent.
Après je ne doute pas que des lectrices et lecteurs aimeront ce livre.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! It has everything you need, a good laugh, tears, and the power of love.
I always loved the song after this book was written and always wondered what happened to the h and I loved how Linda gave me a "closure" about it.
What I love about Linda's writing is that she always makes her characters real, ones you can relate to, and with The Quiet was no exception from that rule. I really felt for Zac, right from the prologue and rooted for his HEA.
Mariana was like a ray of sunshine and exactly what Zac needed.
I was anxious about reading this book and I'm happy Linda wrote it because it was a beautiful story about two people who are marginalized, and somehow, found each other.

Me gustó y la primera parte me la devoré, así de entusiasmada estaba; luego me puse a leer con más moderación jajaj los protagonistas son preciosos, los quise; Mariana vino a romper estereotipos y aplaudo a Linda por esto, Zac es un divino y, como la mayoría de los hombres escritos por Linda, el novio ideal.
Los peros que tengo sobre este libro es la resolución del gran conflicto, me dejó sabor a poco; podría haber sido de otra manera y así condenar ciertas acciones de cierto personaje pero decidió el camino fácil (y un poco rebuscado maybe), quizás no quería caer en un cliché del personaje malo malo pero esta historia se prestaba para eso.
Creo que este libro daba para más aunque sí lo disfruté.

Wow! That's the word that comes to my mind first after finishing The Quiet by Linda Kage. The obstacles that are tossed at Zac and Mari are enough to take anyone down, yet each of them fights daily to overcome their own demons, so when they pair up and start fighting them together it's magic!
The hatred that each of them had to face is heartbreaking, on all levels. No one should ever have to deal with so much hate in their lives. There were so many times that I just didn't know how things were going to play out and the roller coaster ride that my emotions went on from the start to the finish was such an intense ride!
Will definitely look for more books written by Linda Kage!

Wow! Linda sure comes up with unique and amazing stories. This was the same, it was special and so so interesting that I couldn't put it down. ❣️
The Quiet is about a girl who is mute and about a guy who is the black sheep of the town. The small town named Peril hates the boy Zac and ignores the girl Mari. But both of them find solace in each other. It's coming of age romance but the both Zac and Mari are very mature. Their story is beyond beautiful, with more ups and downs than you can count but all the angst is worth reading it. It's a must read it you like raw love stories with spice. ❤️❤️

A story about two misfits who fit together perfectly!
From the very beginning, I loved the bond and chemistry between Mari and Zac.
Their lives have not been easy, and there were moments when I honestly wondered how they could ever end up on top. However, they both proved that the love they share is stronger than any prejudice or malice directed towards them in the small town.
This is not the first book by Linda Kage that I read, and therefore, my expectations were quite high. I am happy to say I was not disappointed, and I will definitely return to this author again.

This was good! The characters were pretty young (like 18 and maybe 21). But I enjoyed it. The characters were so likeable!
SPOILERS AHEAD!!
Now the main reason why this isn’t more stars is bc of the freaking town. Like how could a town be that horrible to one person and for what?!?!? Like mass injustice and bullying and it was just so sad. The MMC literally had the worse luck and the towns folk was terrible and honestly so was his mom the entire book. I’m surprised he didn’t leave at 18 with the way he was treated. I’m glad they had a HEA, but damn I really wish the town/other characters would have gotten more justice tbh.

Que dire ?
J’ai passé un très bon moment de lecture.
J’ai adoré les deux personnages. Ils sont parfait ensemble. Ils sont touchants, ils m’ont émue plusieurs fois que ce soit pour leurs passées ou par ce qu’ils subissent dans leur vie actuelle. Ils sont craquants ensemble et merdouillette ils peuvent être chaud bouillant ces deux là hihihi.
J’ai kiffé l’intrigue et bordel je suis montée plusieurs fois en pression. J’avais cette pointe d’appréhension qui ne voulait pas me lâcher mais j’ai adoré (je me fais peur des fois) .
Beaucoup de personnages secondaires m’ont énervé et j’aurai voulu qu’ils morflent et s’en prennent un peu plus dans la tronche. J’étais en mode « Nini vénère ».
Bref je ne regrette pas mon craquage.
