Rate this book
Do you believe in humans? Bernie Oliver doesn’t, but then again, most ghosts don’t. That is why Bernie has no problem buying a deeply discounted haunted house in the small town of South Camden, Indiana. Humans are just fictional characters used to scare ghost children, right? They couldn’t possibly exist, could they? Shortly after moving in, when he starts hearing random scraping noises, country music, and tidbits about tax rebates, all of which seemingly come from nowhere, Bernie starts to question his beliefs and maybe his sanity too.Julie Edwards, a human teenager, has just moved with her family to South Camden. Though Julie has been blind her entire life, upon moving in to her new home, she immediately starts to experience strange visions of a blurry figure that momentarily appears whenever she turns up her county music loud enough or scrapes her cane across the floor while walking from room to room.Ghost Tales is a lighthearted adventure in which worlds collide as Bernie and Julie try to come to terms with each other’s existence.

I love this book!

A world where ghosts, goblins, and skeletons are the norm. And humans a frightening myth.

Travis Flynn, a writer of YA fantasy books has become a favorite writer of mine. I am over 50, have thoroughly enjoyed the books written by this author, and am looking forward to more.

These book can be enjoyed by all ages.

I stumbled upon the description for this book and thought I'd give it a go. A new take on ghosts? Why not? And I wasn't disappointed! Well written and very entertaining, the author clearly has a wonderful sense of humor that he lent to the main ghost character, Bernie. I found myself chuckling almost all the way through this delightful little story.

Of course, as an adult reading a YA book I did find some things a little too simplistic but since I'm not the target audience that's okay. Besides, it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the book.

I did love the skeletons, especially when one of them practiced karate and the flow of learning about the ghost world kept me entertained and my attention riveted.

I do hope the author writes a sequel. There's more to be told!
