Mining For Justice #2

Redemption In Copper Hollow

Rate this book
We're back in the Hollow almost three years later with Blythe, Miranda, and the rest. A few things have changed, but in true Copper Hollow style, it's still just as gossipy and quirky, but life is good. Or at least it will be once the Brooke incident is finally put to rest. Lulled into a false sense of normalcy thanks to the pandemic putting off the trial, Blythe's nerves are quickly unraveling as she is forced to testify. Brooke's trial is coming up fast, and tension is building, especially once a new person rides into town on gasoline fumes and something to prove.

Molly King has one goal in mind. Get the Brooke Swafford story down in print, become a best seller, and finally stick it to everyone who ever doubted her. Only it's not that easy. She's met with wall after wall in Copper Hollow. No one will talk to her, and she's desperate for some insider information. It doesn't help that she's destitute and distracted by a handywoman with scars, tattoos, and the same glint of survival in her eyes as Molly.

Tash Swine has lived a hard life. A career criminal hoping to get her act together, she feels blessed when Blythe Gallamore takes a chance on her and hires Tash as a handywoman to help around the Gallamore property. Tash is determined to make this new life work, and no one, not even the cute, annoying writer that sticks her nose into everything, will deter her from her goal. Or, at least, that's what she's telling herself.

I knew I would love this going in, but omg I LOVED IT.

Three years after the events of Road to Cooper Hollow, we follow Blythe, Melinda, an ex-convict, Tash, and an inspiring author who wants to write about the Copper Hollow murder and kidnapping, Molly.

Without giving too much away because you know spoilers, this book is about dealing with life after traumatic experiences, the loss of a friend, trying to move on with life, turning your life around, and learning to love again after being so badly treated. I loved all the characters, and the introduction of the butch handywoman, the ex-con, Tash, and the damsel-in-distress but lovely Molly was just the perfect combination to the story.

I loved the side characters too, especially Mr. Miller. We all need a queer old man in our lives giving us advice on love.

Redemption In Copper Hollow is all things; captivating, nail-biting, funny, shocking, and heartwarming. You need to read Road to Copper Hollow first, and I recommend this series with all my heart. I just love everything about it.

This returns to the characters from book 1 of this duo, but updates on them and introduces a couple of new ones. 3 years have passed since the events in book 1 and Blythe and Miranda are now married and Blythe is expecting twins. Would be author, Molly comes to Copper Hollow in her hopes of writing a book about what happened, but her first meeting with Blythe proves to be a disaster. Thereafter, the local townspeople shun Molly and then she starts to fall for Blythe’s handywoman, Tash. There are a number of stop and starts in the potential romance as Molly has to extricate herself from a toxic relationship and Miranda rather overreacts to an incident, causing Molly to be banished from the home she and Tash have been creating. It’s a little mundane for a fair while but does eventually get more interesting as Brooke finally comes to trial for the crimes she committed in book 1. I enjoyed the trial scenes most in this.

That was stressful

Molly went through hell with Charlotte, but I think Charlotte got what she deserved. Tash had her demons in life too. Molly and Tash finding each other and being happy together is what everyone dreams of.
Blythe and Miranda and their friends were still under a lot of stress with everything that had happened in book one. But it all worked out in the end. Blythe and Miranda found their happiness too. And Brooke got what was coming to her.

I didn’t dislike this book but I also just don’t think it was a necessary sequel. The first book ended abruptly and this book just read like a really long epilogue, even with the additions of Tash and Molly.

great

This book is as good as the first. It was great to catch up with the people in copper hollow.
I would definitely recommend but you do have to read book 1 first.
