After reading this entire book, you THEN discover that you need to read ANOTHER book after this one to find out who the villain is. I quit caring halfway through this book. NO reaL character development. It was all pretty much like a paperdoll version of a book. Very flat and unsatisfying read.

I read several reviews of this book in which fans of Lisa Jackson didn’t feel this was up to her usual standard. This is one of my favorite authors, but with that said I understand the comments of others. Here are my thoughts. This was a compilation of four books ( two in this book and two in her following book) and as individual books I’m sure it made for a better read. Compiling the stories made it a much slower read and at time almost made you lose sight of the actual plot. While in a single book I feel the “who done it” plot would have been a good read, in the way this is written there doesn’t seem to be enough mystery or suspense to keep you interested. The same is true of the characters. All in all, I enjoyed the book, but I would recommend that rather than read this one you read the individual books. I think you’ll enjoy them much more.

There are two novels in this edition: the first is about the oldest of the McCafferty brothers and the second about the middle of the three brothers. I liked Thorne's story better than Matt's story because I felt that the relationship between the characters was better developed in it. I did like Matt's story but felt it was a little hurried. Tying the four McCafferty novels together is the challenge to find out who wants the sister Randi dead. There are several possibilities to consider. I usually like Lisa Jackson's novels and have read her books for years.

Actually two books in one. The first is Thorne who is the oldest McCafferty brother. A multi-millionaire, handsome man who as CEO is used to stating exactly what he wants and getting it immediately. Until he is notified that his “little sister” Randi has been in a very serious car accident. Rushing back home to the family ranch, a place he left long ago, he meets Randi’s E.R. doctor who has a past long ago with Thorne.

Randi’s accident is the long-term thread that runs through this book and the next … and the next two-character book as well. And the more everyone finds out, the more they know it was not just an accident.

The McCafferty men love women but not permanently. Until now…

The second book of Rumors is about Matt, McCafferty brother #2. As determined to protect their sister Randi, the brothers also are doggedly centered on finding out WHO forced Randi off the road. The police force is working the issue but not hard enough for Matt. However, Kelly Dillinger – the cop assigned to his sister’s case – is also just as resolute in finding the truth. The fact that neither agree on the approach or the information shared does not keep the sparks from flying.

I just reread this book and I enjoyed the story. The first story is about Thorn McCafferty who came home when he was notified that his little sister had been in a bad car wreck, was in a coma and the doctors had to take her newborn baby to save it’s life. Thorn had not been keeping up with his sister or his brothers in a while but none of them knew that Randi was pregnant. At the hospital, he ran into his old flame that he had not gotten quite over and they both had to face their feelings. Nicole Stevenson was the head physician over the ER and Thorn needed her to be the one to keep his family up to date on his sister’s condition. The story is a good romantic and mystery that covers all four books.

The second story is about Matt McCafferty and his relationship with Deputy Kelly Dillinger concerning the accident that his sister had and the attempt on her life while she was in the hospital. While Matt thought he was not ready to settle down, he was giving it some thought since he met Kelly. She was around him and the family a lot while investigating the attempt on his sister’s life.

Both books were nice stories.

There were originally 4 McCafferty books - one for each sibling. They were combined into 2 books with 2 siblings covered in each. In the first book, Thorne, the half sister Randi is in a car accident. From what I've read, that mystery continues through all 4 books, so no solution should be expected in a hurry. It semes like someone may be trying to kill all the McCaffertys, but are they or is the family suddenly accident prone - or stupid, doing things like flying in a show storm?
Someone does try to kill Randi while she is still in the coma so it seems like someone is out to get her at least. Randi finally wakes up after a month in a coma in the book where Matt is the seond book about Matt.

In the first book, Thorne gets together with Nicole who he had a relationship with 17 years earlier. She is a divorcee with two twin girls.
In the second book, Matt gets involved with Kelly who is investigating the attempts in Randi's life

This book was more on the romance side rather than the mystery or suspense.

From the book-blurb this one sounded promising. After listening to the audio version I’d say it was just entertaining enough to get through. Sometimes "light" listening is all you need doing house chores after a long day's work. But boy oh boy, are there are lots of cheap clichés in this book! The storylines are so flimsy. Actually, there are two stories here: the first is Thorne McCafferty falling for ER Doctor Nicole Stevens. The second is Matt McCafferty falling for Police detective Kelley (sp?). I had hoped to be drawn in by the beautiful Montana scenery and ranching life, but I was left unsatisfied. I liked the idea of connection between the siblings, but everything felt so generic, so sugary, ugh. I will most probably forget these stories the second the last page is read.
The only thing that kept me going was this question: Who ran Randy off the road?
I gave this a 2-stars rating, but it's more deserving of a 1,5.

This is a 2part series... Focusing on 3 brothers Thorne, Matt and Slade McCafferty's. They are wealthy and take NO for an answer. Thorne is voted bachelor of Grand Hope and when his half sister is in the hospital he has found the lady of his dreams. .. She is the DR who admitted her the day she came in. Does the beautiful Nicole feel the same way. Why did sis, end up in the hospital? Was it an accident or intentional?
Matt has never met a lady who he felt something for... Then Det. Kelly Dillinger gets assigned to the case. .. Her mom and Matt's dad go back. Her all business attitude impresses Matt and he starts to fire up his blood. Can this brother actually be falling in love? She is trying to stay professional but Matt becomes more determined will he get his way?

Hmm...hmm, this book was typical suspense romance. Find the killer, they make love(very monotony), and they get married, even though I knew it was going to happen from the two prologues I thought this would be interesting and it was don't get me wrong, but it was typical. I give this book 3 stars because I don't know who the damn father is to J.R. because of Kelly she's just awesome : )

Two novels: Thorne and Matt. Both novels revolve around the fact that Thorne and Matt's sister has been involved in a car crash and is in a coma. Thorne meets Dr. Nicole Stevenson. Matt meets Detective Kelley Dillinger. While trying to determine whether Randi's car crash was an accident or attempted murder and caring for Randi's newborn baby, the two couples fall in love. Enjoyable read.

Well written and intriguing until the disappointing end. They mystery of who wanted to kill Randy McCafferty or why, as well as the identity of the babies father, was not solved. Since it was the central plot in the book, I concider this an unfair trick to get readers to buy the next book in the series. One I would never use.
