(Anthony Horowitz)

This book is really terrifying. However, the story is amazing specially the ending. I also liked the computer which could tell which horse was gonna win the race.

1st story. Basic plot: Matthew King buys a second-hand camera as a birthday present for his father, unaware that it possesses dark magic. He soon begins to realise that anything which is photographed is destroyed, e.g the cherry tree, the mirror, his pet dog. Tension builds when Matthew finds out more about the camera's previous owners. He searches for his family, who have taken the camera with them on a trip to London. He manages to find them and is relieved to hear that they have not taken any pictures of each other until he is told that his brother, Jamie took a picture of London which causes darkness to roll towards the city.

Questions/activities for the children
Book 1 -How do you think Matthew felt when he realised everything he took a picture of was getting destroyed? - What would you have done with the camera once you realised what it did?
- Would you have told anyone about this camera? - Do you think it would have been a better idea for Matthew to have used the camera with his family so he felt more comfortable with it before he used it on his own? - Would you have been worried about what happened to the previous owners of the camera? - Would you have bought the camera for £40 even though you knew it was worth at least £300? Would you have wondered why the camera was so cheap? - Do you think it is a good idea to buy technology that you are unsure about? Why? - If you were ever uncertain about an item of technology that you owned or wanted to get, what would you do? - Do you research items of technology before you buy or use them?

2nd story. Basic plot: Henry receives an old computer from his father. Every day the computer turns on automatically and reveals a name of a racehorse which will win the race. It successfully predicts betting odds. The future is no secret anymore but Henry should get worried when other people begin to notice his good luck. He soon begins to get bullied by an older person named Garrett who steals the majority of Henry's winnings, Garrett then steals the computer. The computer flashes one more name, " Light moves" and Garrett is then killed by a truck with the name Light Moves on it.
Questions/activities for the children
Book 2 -How do you think Henry first felt when the computer revealed the name of the racing horse that was going to win? Would you have felt the same way or would you have felt differently? -What would you do if you were Henry? Would you tell someone about the strange and mysterious computer? Who would you tell? -Why did Henry not tell his mum and dad about the computer? - Do you think Henry was being greedy when he kept going back to gamble on the horses to get more money? - Why did Henry need someone 18 or older to help him? -Why did Henry pick his best friend Leo over the computer? - Would you have asked the bully Garrett to help you out? If no, who would you have asked? - After reading this book, what do you think the consequences of underage betting are? - When Henry first received the computer he felt uncomfortable and scared. Do you think it's a good idea to use something that you feel uncomfortable and scared of? -If, like Henry, you felt uncomfortable with this technology, who should you ask for help with it?
- Aimed at the end of ks2 children. However, may include inappropriate content as it talks about ouija boards and a cult of people attempting to communicate with an evil spirit and makes slightly sexist references in the first book. - Was the author's main aim to signify the dangers of using unfamiliar technology without supervision? - Was the author suggesting that you should have full knowledge about a product before you buy it? - This could link to a lesson on the safety of using technology.
- Full of suspense and action with a spooky ending. Kept the audience wondering what was going to happen to the main character. - In each story the main character is a 14-year-old boy however, I think the stories would be interesting for both girls and boys who enjoy fantasy and speculative fiction.

killer camera was a great book, it was filled with many twists and surprises. It is a book of the horror genre although it wasn't scary it was just creepy and very strange. I would recommend this book to those who don't mind horror that much.

This book is called 'Killer Camera' by Anthony Horowitz.
The reason i read this book, is because my English teacher used to read other books from this same author and i found it very interesting.

This fits into my bingo board under the category:'A book with a male main character'.

This story starts off with Matthew King, an average boy walking around on a Saturday and spots the Saturday Car-boot Sale. He just realized that his father's Fiftieth birthday was coming around the corner. Since he had plenty of free time and it was free, he couldn't help himself.
He looked through the pots and pans, which were out dated forty years ago, and went through all the other trash that was there in the boot sale. He looked through a dictionary, a baseball jacket and several pairs of jeans untill...... he came across a camera..... He purchase the camera for 10 Pounds, not even half its real value. He decided to buy the camera and give it to his dad, but when he testes it by clicking the photo of their ancestral tree......
It dies three days later....
The events disturb Matthew and one afternoon at the cafe, he found photos of teenagers lying near the bin.
He discovers more horrifying facts about the camera. It is a killer camera, the thing or person, who's photo is taken from this camera, it will kill them or bring great destruction to their lives.
Matthew's phone rings and his mother told him that his cousin Mike has his camera and he is taking a photo of London City with it. Matthew panicks and runs as fast as he could to reach and stop this killer camera and it path of destruction. Too late, he finds out that the photo is already been taken, but when he reaches the area, he makes sure everyone evacuates the area, and watched as the building of london fall on the bare ground.

I will recommend this book to lovers of Anthony Horowitz and for those people who like thrilling and horrifying books, because of the author's experience of writing in this genre before.

Killer Camera- Graphic Novel Review
This must-read novel is fast-paced and an easy read, so don’t put the book down!
This curious story is one that will leave you feeling exited because of the suspense and sudden events that occur in ‘Killer Camera’. Through the coloured pages of this graphic novel about a boy, who buys a cheap camera off a mysterious seller from a car boot sale for his dad’s birthday, the truth of this magical camera unravels.
After finding out what happened to the previous owners of the camera, the main character, Matt, has to get rid of this camera quick!
The page turning events intrigue you to keep reading. It is a simple yet interesting novel with the use of speech bubbles when the characters are talking, and some narrative text; which along with the pictures is very descriptive. All this combined makes you feel that the story is almost real; like you’re there. The characters definitely draw you in to explore this quirky story.

You would expect a horror book by Anthony Horowitz to be mildy unsettling, if anything. However, once you really get into the stories, you do start to get shivers down your spine.

This read was pretty average. Not very exciting or creepy in any sort of way. But Anthony Horowitz gave the story a few classy punches, making it exciting in a slight sense.

A boy buys a second hand camera for his Dad’s birthday but it has a deadly secret.

Not a bad idea for a short story, but the writing and the graphics were a bit simplistic.
