Earth Cycle #1

Exit Darkness, Enter Light

Rate this book
We live in a world in which nothing is as it seems.

Beyond the veil of physicality lies the truth we all seek.

In the margins of a fabricated history lurks a long suppressed truth about reality: Humanity is not alone in the galaxy or even the most intelligent species on the planet. From the first moments of creation ancient forces of light and darkness have been locked in conflict for the energetic domination of the universe. Earth is now a minor battleground in a grand war between the cosmic adversaries. Cyrus Zade seems like a young man who has everything going for him, he is well educated, has a promising career and a loving family. But beneath this shiny facade lies a childhood haunted by vivid nightmares and the inexplicable death of a dog. Cyrus must come face to face with an empire of evil to unravel the mysteries of his past. This knowledge will cost him and those he loves dearly. Driven by a promise made before birth, Cyrus must transform into something he never believed possible. More than his life depends on this metamorphosis; his very soul is at stake, as is the fate of the world.

This was recommended to me by a friend. It has everything I like rolled into one. Beautiful poetry and an amazingly frantic story. It was a book I will never forget and can't wait for the follow up.

This was an excellent book - well written and exciting. I like the different ideas about the nature of reality - and how spiritual concepts were used to enrich the character development.

Well worth a look.

This book is a fantasy and promises to be the first of three. The author, by accident or design, is following the current conventional wisdom of working within a genre and producing a series of books as a continuing narrative.

He has based his fantasy on a mythology of his own creation. For the guidance of the reader he thoughtfully provides an eleven-page glossary at the end. For example, we learn that there is a prism of no escape, which is ‘a magical triangular prism of special substance constructed by the Dark Gods of the Black Circle. It can trap energy being in it for eternity. The Sirian Kings and Demon Chiefs have been held prisoner there for millions of years.’

Basically, we have a conflict raging at an inter-stellar level between the forces of light and dark (good and evil) with some love interest thrown in.

The style is often somewhat staid. For example:
‘We have decided to get married,’ Nadia shouted with unreserved excitement.

Either you like this sort of thing or you don’t.

The poetry is beautiful, and the prose is excellent as well. The use of spitituality, and metaphysics really works well, and actually manages to tie in well with this fast paced story. An absolute triumph for the author. First of a trilogy, I belive! Well, hurry up and write th ebnext two, I'm anxious to devour them, as i did this one.
