A friend lost. An empire rewriting the world. A monster rising in the night.
Digby Graves has returned to Las Vegas with a taste for revenge. After giving up his soul in exchange for the power to build an army, he and his crew of misfits begin to realize that he might have made a mistake. Who would have thought having a soul would be important, right?
With a looming war on the horizon, there's no time for Digby to dwell on what he’s lost. The Autem Empire has been preparing its conquest for decades and is already close to seizing control. With nothing but his honorary conscience to guide him, Digby must rally his forces and take the fight to his enemies before his own sanity becomes a forgotten memory.
Saving everyone means facing down his demons and confronting a harsh reality as the line between hero and villain begins to in war, there are no winners.
Note: I write these reviews to freshen my memory when it comes time to read the next book. I sincerely wish AMAZON or Publisher's in general would force the writers to write a series and or book recapp.
Rebirth... Becca is reborn as a vampire. She teams up with vamp mercenaries who are working with the last FOOL to bring down the evil Empire. Digby doesn't have his soul coz he gave up his spark to become the caretaker of the Seed. Digby has killed humans. First one was an accident. Who turns into his personal ghost (really was losing his mind). So Vegas (Rebels) have the nukes and they come have bunch of clashes with the Empire and then Empire strikes back and they have sit down with Palpatine (hahaha Henwick) and tell him to back down otherwise they would nuke their capital (mutually assured destruction). Becca saves Digby's life and in turn Alex saves her life.
A solid entry and read for the series however I do believe this would have been an excellent end point for the series. I’m worried about Necrotic Apocalypse overstaying it’s welcome.
If you are a fan of the series there is much to be loved from this latest entry.
Digby and Parker have returned from their time in the Heretic Seed’s realm. Digby gave up his very soul to become the Seed’s caretaker. Surprisingly, humans can live with out a soul. It just tends to make the jerks! However, a zombie with out a soul will become insane and unravel. The time is limited. A wish pulls
For as dark a theme as this book has, it is a lot of fun! It does an excellent job of adding lore to the world. I will not spoil it, but some of the new characters are just amazing! I honestly want a spin off for them. I’m excited about the next book. I assume it will be wrapping up this series.
This installment attempts to answer the question of whether a zombie, who seems to be a good guy, though socially inept, can keep his wits about himself after tearing out his soul (in the last book). There’s a lot of fighting and a lot of jumping between settings as the pieces come together - and fall apart. Will Parker ever get that much needed sleep?
Wanted for this one to come out, but it was well worth the wait. Whether leaving a soft ending for a hiatus or just the completion of the series, it was well done. This was an interesting series, and I enjoyed the magic system. Well worth a read, through purchase or KU as I did. Thank you for the ride!
The conclusion of this book was great, and it is so much relatable to real-world wars: either you are destroyed with no chance to argue or you have the weapon of the dialogue (a nuclear weapon or similar in power), only then can you be considered to be worthy to be listened to and negotiate peace with the opressor.
Becca is back. Digby is insane. The BBEG is coming to Vegas. Becca races to save Digby. Everyone is stretched thin and the world burns. In the end a tentative peace is established, Digby is sane, and Becca a killer vampire.
It fills like an end to the series, but I really hope it isn’t.
Great evolution from the previous book! I loved the new characters and the growth of the existing characters. The "final battle" was a little anti-climatic but the ending still had some exciting moments and resolutions...but holy hell, that epilogue! Loved that little twist and can't wait to see where it goes from here!
It's been a while since I read the series and now that the last book is out, I'm finally catching up. I love how D introduced new characters and abilities. I absolutely love all the pop culture references; it makes a geek like me so happy. We definitely needed more Asher - hopefully the last books will fulfill that wish!
Another beautiful add to a kick booty story.. Humor and great characters at their finest... It sits on a unique pedestal in the litrpg genre all it's own... Highly recommend JD Glasscock Author of the Series Blood Brothers and the Dream
Wow! Even crazier than the previous books! Didn't see it coming. I really, really hope that it is not the final instalment of this excellent tale! Let's cross fingers! 😉
