Seventeen-year-old Larken Marche will never walk without assistance again. Any hope she’d had of being a professional athlete was shattered in an extremist attack. Too damaged even for twenty-third-century medicine, she’s relegated to using a cane to get around and must rechart the future she expected to live.

The event that crushed her body and dreams also promoted her to national fame. Larken doesn’t give interviews, and she hates the fame, preferring to live a normal, quiet life if she can’t live the one she’d always dreamed of. She attends the University of Washington, which gives her some sense of normalcy until her roommate, Samantha Caldwell, disappears.

Larken’s roommate finally returns as the victim of a horrendous attack. Larken is plagued with hallucinations and a pervading sense of helplessness after Sam’s attack. She must decide whether she has what it takes to beat back the extremists who targeted her and Sam or cower in fear of an ever-strengthening extremist threat who still seem to have Larken and her friends in their cross-hairs. The next attack could be on any of Larken’s friends or Larken herself. The next attack could mean someone dies…

One sci-fi universe. Infinite possibilities.

Andrew’s works are high-concept works that attempt to answer questions about human nature in science fiction settings. Could slavery happen tomorrow, based on historical patterns? How do normal people justify and rationalize their roles in an oppressive system? He provides psychological insights through entertaining, futuristic worlds.

Having recently published Models and Citizens and the short story collection Gemini Book, taking place in the same universe, Andrew is currently working on the second book of the Reality Gradient series - Bodhi Rising.

From a small town like many of his characters, Andrew grew up in Texas but currently resides just outside of Seattle, Washington, with his wife and two children who consume most of his non-writing time. Any additional available time he spends playing guitar or writing.

Publications include:
Bodhi Rising. (In-progress) Two friends, a sickly youth and a coma patient, avoid death to find themselves on opposite sides of the corporate battle for the future of the immortality industry.

Models and Citizens. A college graduate and an escaped clone attempt to evade capture and persecution while forging an unlikely friendship.

Gemini Book. A collection of short stories taking place in the same universe as Models and Citizens.

Authentication, privacy, and security can exploit brainwaves by smartphone. Invited scientific paper at SPIE.DSS.

A Handful of Sweets by The Sweet Family. A sentimental gift to his parents with an eclectic mix of stories.

Recent influences include:
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
Severance by Ling Ma
Ancestral Night by Elizabeth Bear
The Three-Body Problem by Cizin Liu
