Sweet and spicy

This author has a true talent for weaving many elements to a plot. Although it is essentially a romance/sci-fi work, there is so much more to it. I especially love the communication between other sentient animal species and humans in this book. I found myself laughing out loud and feeling a myriad of emotions while reading, and each page was a new and wonderful surprise. The beautiful prose was almost entrancing, and I cannot recommend it enough.

I was a little confused by some discontinuous plot, especially at the end with the “earth disaster” that was going to happen. It was not clear if the volcano erupted or not? Did their alien technology stop the eruption? I know the style is mates, destined to be together, but thought it was odd how FMC made up her mind one day ok I’m ready to be with him! then they’re courting, maybe that’s just hard to understand since it’s not like our real life “dating.” Overall, I will continue to keep reading the series as new books are released because I want to see how the rest of the characters end up.

‘I will never be a victim again…I’m a survivor – and proud of it’

Tennessee author Fionne Foxxe Farraday is an ICU physician who continues to impress with her Mates of the Alliance series. She has stated, ‘The characters in my books work in healthcare – or have close ties to people who do, such as Mikka and Darzik. She has some scars, but she is a fighter. She reclaims her life, and he is so proud of her…I think of these stories as a testimony to the resilience of the indomitable human spirit. Despite everything, we bounce back and come out fighting for our happy ending.’

Fionne is a writer who is able to create a science fiction fantasy so closely tied to reality that the concept succeeds on every level. Her series MATES OF THE ALLIANCE, of which DARZIK is Book 2, is that phenomenon, a dazzling exploration of ‘other worlds’ outside Planet Earth populated with warring strategies (not unlike present climes) involving Earth, and aptly entering our present by means of an ingeniously sculpted alien drawn to a winsome and fascinating female earthling. The author suffuses this novel with in depth knowledge of the field of medicine, threads of consequences of climate change, imaginative vision of ‘alien’ variations of possible advances in body functions, while weaving a unique romance rich in comedy, parody, satire, and fun. Note: it is highly recommended to read Book 1 first to become fully involved in this one.

The novel opens with a Prologue that stages a rape scene, a horrifying incident, aptly tended to by Mikka’s family (Mikka ‘becomes’ Emily) and nurses at the hospital to which she is transported. Bonds are created that launch this story like a rocket. Having established the principle female character (who has become a superb nurse), Fionne sensitively introduces the male character, Darzik: ‘Darzik bolted upright with a vicious snarl. He looked wildly around his quarters. Darzik grounded himself back in the present. ‘My Mate is haunted by these dreams, reliving this horrific trauma nearly every night.’ Fury turned his muscles to iron. With determination, he regained hard-won control. Darzik could still see the painful images of his Mate from his dreams. He saw her younger self, abused and frightened. He felt her wrenching pain. ‘I now see her deep-seated distrust of mates…The monster who had grievously injured his Mate might still be alive somewhere…’

The author summarizes this episode: ‘She has been living in limbo for five long years, trying to hide from the festering wounds of her past. Watching her best friend fall in love with her Mate has made her yearn for more from her own life. She was a victim once; she refuses to be one again. She won’t let her past ruin her future. She has learned that the best true justice for a survivor of violent crime is to live a full happy rewarding life...she just needs the courage to take her life back. He met his future at his best friend’s Bonding ceremony. She does not yet know it, but he is just waiting for her to be ready. She is teaching him patience, but he knows she will well be worth any wait. He does not know it yet, but she is done waiting. He won’t know what hit him.’

Brava to the author for understanding the needs and vulnerabilities of teens and growing those insecurities into the horizons beyond career into passion – the hope for finding the someone who is more than the ordinary superficial ‘crowd.’ At the same time, demonstrating a keen eye for the unknown other world – in the Alliance – views from other planets and places. Book 2 continues the journey to a fascinating and delightful world! Very highly recommended.

Darzik is the second book in the “Mates of the Alliance” series. This series is based on sci-fi romance and it's a wonderful read. I read the first book "Karin" and I was very impressed with the storyline so I was very curious to read more about the characters introduced in the first book. This is my second book reading by Fionne Foxxe and as I was aware of her writing and imagination skills, I was so excited to read this book, and guess what? It didn't disappoint me at all. I just loved this book. The author kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was everything I needed and wanted in a book. I found the characters to be very well-developed, we felt their emotions and understood their actions.

Darzik and Emily are my favorites and I am in love with their story, I enjoyed their interactions and the romance is pretty good. I fall in love with these two characters. Their character development is so good. The relationship between Emily and Darzik would keep you engaged throughout the story because their love is very so pure and steamy. I found myself reading through the pages of this book eager to see what happens next.

This is an extremely addictive read. I loved every character and every little scene I had created in my mind while reading this book. It made me happy, sad, angry, and happy again! What more can you ask from a story? This is one story that will stick with me cause it has all the elements I love to read in a book. There is so much I want to say about this book! I can't possibly explain all of the reasons why it is such an amazing read as it will be a spoiler. I would like to invite you all to read this amazing book.

A perfect mate may seem hard to come by, but imagine if there was just one person predestined for you. Now, suppose this perfect individual happens to be of another species, would love still conquer all?

In "Darzik," author Fionne Foxxe Farraday introduces her readers to Emily Garrison, a recent sexual assault victim of the sheriff, Banning Delacroix. Emily's birth name was Mikaela Ferguson and decided to change her name to keep her past in the distance as her way to move forward with her life, by a name change. She's told there's someone named Darzik who would be the perfect mate for her. Darzik, a Luperan Officer works alongside Karin and the rest of the team to keep the coexisting arrangement between humans and aliens peaceful. Emily's good friend, Daria is the mate of Karin, and seeing how they interact lovingly was something she hoped to have with Darzik.

I enjoyed reading this book, as the characters' development was written for readers to relate better, from the aspects of love and living on a planet with other beings in peaceful harmony. The relationship between Emily and Darzik would keep you hooked because their love is next-level gentle and steamy. I found myself reading through the pages of this book eager to learn what happens next. Fionne did a wonderful job at captivating her audience, making her characters' situations relatable, and allowing love to radiate off the pages no matter species differences. I would highly recommend everyone, especially hopeless romantics to consider reading this book, as it provides an amazing reading experience.

This is certainly one of the steamiest books I have read recently. However, it is also packed with amazing imagery from the science fiction world as it involves an alien species of eight-foot tall two-legged feline creatures and a host of telepathic animals they ride with. ‘DARZIK: Mates of the Alliance Book 2,’ I haven’t read the first book yet but will, continues Fionne Foxxe Farraday’s ongoing romantic/sci fi series and does it rather well.

Looks like these aliens helped save Earth and humanity and are now sticking around to stabilize things while, unexpectedly, managing to fall in love with various humans. This book focuses on one particular human woman, Mikka, and her journey from a victim to the enraptured lover of Darzik, a high-ranking officer of the Luperans.

It starts out slow as the main relationship moves forward ever so slowly, gaining speed and keeping the reader's blood flowing as the erotic tension is heightened and released. Nothing is left to the imagination, and one might have to take breaks as the hot and heavy love story is explored from every possible angle. The story of their work on Earth is ever present in the background, but the entire focus in the mind and body connected story of need, lust, survival and love.

Book 2 in Fionne Foxxe Farraday’s sci-fi romance novel series, ‘DARZIK: Mates of the Alliance,’ escalates everything from Book 1 and adds loads of new texture and zest. I read the first book and was intrigued by the combination of the Fate of the Worlds clash mixed with a steamy alien-human romance story.

Continuing the story of the first romance, which has blossomed into a lifetime love match with offspring on the way, Farraday brings in a new female character, Mikka, who begins her own romantic journey in parallel with yet behind Daria. They are in fact friends and Daria’s guidance is needed as the heat slowly turns up—fair warning: Be prepared for a long simmer as the onions of lust and love slowly get peeled apart.

In the background are scores of new characters, such as various highly intelligent animals, while the aliens who saved Earth set about ensuring the safety of humanity. But the main course is the personality and flesh driven high-octane romance between Darzik and Mikka, a formidable woman in her own right. You will need a relaxing cigarette break in order to recover for Book 3!

Oh Man! This is a VERY HOT Book!

If you enjoyed The Shape of Water, you’d probably like DARZIK.

DARZIK will intrigue a wide range of readers - anyone who loves sci-fi, adventure, and steamy romance should give it a try. Farraday has promised more in this series and I'm curious to see how she continues to build on the memorable characters and storylines.

Here’s a sample:

Glancing up, she saw understanding… patience… acceptance in his waiting gaze. A smile trembled on her lips. I’ve let fear control me long enough. No more. I won’t be a victim. This is my life and I’m taking it back. Mikka steeled her spine and made her choice. She took a big leap forward in trust... and took the few last small physical steps toward Darzik and into the rest of her life.

Darzik lifted their fingers with tangible reverence. Bending his shaggy head, he brushed a soft kiss across the back of her hand. He lingered a few heartbeats. “It is my hope that, one day, we will look back on this slow exquisite dance we are doing as our courtship.”

Darzik: Mates of the Alliance is definitely one to add to your reading list!

Darzik by Fionne Foxxe Farraday is an intense and empowering romance that centers on Mikka, a survivor grappling with past trauma and yearning for a fulfilling life. After spending years in emotional limbo, she decides it’s time to take control and stop being defined by her painful experiences. At a bonding ceremony, she crosses paths with Darzik, an alien Luperan and a commanding officer on the Guardian, who instantly recognizes her as his destined partner. However, understanding her need for healing, he resolves to wait until she’s ready for a relationship.

As Mikka gains the courage to face her future, she’s no longer willing to let anything or anyone hold her back. What follows is a passionate romance where healing and desire intertwine, leading to a story of resilience and self-discovery. Farraday’s novel is both steamy and heartfelt, exploring themes of inner strength, love, and the power of moving beyond trauma. With its blend of sci-fi elements and emotional depth, Darzik is perfect for romance fans seeking a story of redemption and a well-earned happily-ever-after.

Decent Read

I’ve thought long and hard the rating to give this book. The plot is great, the romance steamy, but the writing style was what threw me for a loop.
Character names were used a lot to identify who was doing what—even if there were only two characters in the scene and he/she would have sufficed. Dialogue was repeated multiple times in the same scene, and I actually found myself rereading sentences a lot to try to figure out what was happening because the sentence structures/word choices were jarring.

HOWEVER, despite the 3⭐️ review, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Alien Spice. It was good, but not the book for me.

I also commend the author. Despite the jarring writing, I can tell she poured her heart and soul into the book, and it made it easy to look past grammatical or structural errors the more I got into the story.

DNF. I got to chapter 14. Of course you have to respect and be very careful with rape victims. That was present in this book but to such a level that my teeth fell out from the sweetness. She even goes so far as to call this warrior “my sweetness”. Also whole conversations with cats and a dog. I dropped out.

Amazing!
Truly enjoy reading this author! You get taken on adventures and see so much character development. You meet new characters while visiting with previous ones. Meeting the animal companions is one of the best parts of these books, and the animals always steal the show-no complaints from me!
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!
