Ivy Penn is a multi-genre romance author who has a macabre sense of humor and loves horror movies. Growing up as a single child, she was often lonely and began creating characters to entertain herself. Now she shares her stories with her readers. Dark, morally grey, sweet, or dirty. Her belief is that all stories bloom in thier own way. She lives in the midwestern United States with her husband and daughter. Her hobbies include drinking coffee, video games, and cooking.
I loved this forbidden love, secret baby read. The story is well developed, fast paced and I fell in love with this couple. I loved that their path to HEA was not an easy one and that they had to work through some serious obstacles. This author has now become a one click author for me and I can’t wait to read more of her stories!
I liken this story to watching a train wreck - you are fascinated by what is happening, know it isn’t good but can’t look away. I really liked Vivian though I didn’t always agree with her. Ethan on the other hard, took a while to like as he seemed really mean to Ethan. These two had feelings for each other but for some reason, neither could give in which caused chaos to happen all around before they finally attempt to fix it. I found this book entertaining, sizzling hot and sometimes a little perplexing. However, I couldn’t put this book down as I wanted to know how it all ended.
I received a free advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest review.
Indecent Intent is first in a brand new series. It's an enemies to lovers, step sibling with a dark vibe trope. Lots of angst and drama, starts in high school to young adults and the miscommunication is OTT, a jerk whose pierced for a MMC and a tough, stands her ground and doesn't give in FMC. I didn't like all the editing errors, we didn't get closure on Mom or Boyfriend and I thought there should have been more groveling from the male hero who surprisingly stayed celibate after 18 yo.
Ethan York, is all that, he runs his high school, rich, good looking and sought after but he's only got eyes for Vivian Watts. Ethan has been infatuated since middle school with her but he constantly picking at her.
Vivian "Vivi" Watts is liked, has low self esteem, smart and dreams of being an opera singer. She has never had a boyfriend and even though she hates Ethan she is still attracted to him.
Ethan and Vivi's parents are getting married and that means they will be step siblings and she will be moving into his mansion.
A summer party is held at the mansion and Vivi gets trashed and draws the attention of an older dude. Ethan beats him up and takes Vivi to her room where she proceeds to jump his bones and no protection is used.
Vivi starts to date Jackson, ends up pregnant and moves out. But she shows up 2 years later and guess who the baby belong too?
How will these young parents co-parent, get over hurt feelings and learn to communicate and realize that they actually love one another?
Well I will say get your gloves out because you are going to want to punch a few people in this one hell you are going to want to do a whole lot more than punch them especially knowing they never get what they deserve…..just saying in my eyes they don’t! Vivian just makes you want to give her the biggest hug telling her it will all work out in the end all that she endured bullied daily by the king of the high school he made the decision to make her life miserable wishing for the last day of school and to make matters worse her mother decided to marry her nemesis father meaning not only is she bullied daily in school now she is bullied at home as well so there is no escaping for her. Ethan sexy as all get our bully for no reason well he liked her but of course he couldn’t let own his reasons why, the more he got to know her after moving in together the more his feeling grew but also the jealousy grew he wanted or more like needed her to himself and anytime she was friendly with anyone else he had to sabotage it some way but the more he did the more he pushed her away until he pushed her right away. She moved out with her boyfriend and that started the ball rolling now he has to work to win her trust but he also had to be real with her show her him not the bully but the man he has become will she give him a chance, will she hold all he did against him, what about their parents, what about those he put to hurting her, and where are they headed happiness??
It started in middle school, both of them being obsessed with each other.
The story starts when Vivian and Ethan are in high school. Ethan is a first class jerk with a pretty face and banging body. He's got his eye on Vivian, but he is such a d!ck that even though she is attracted to him, she doesn't give him the time of day.
When Vivian's mother Judy introduces her new boyfriend, it's none other than Ethan's rich father. Vivian tries to protest, but Judy has her own agenda and she cares little for anyone else, even her daughter. Judy never fails to criticize Vivian, and even states that Ethan isn't "her speed" as in, he's too good for her. Judy is a nasty gold digger-- Ethan and Vivian see it from the start, and it takes a few years of marriage for Evan to catch up. During that time, Vivian becomes the daughter Evan never had even after divorcing Judy.
A lot of miscommunication, and Ethan, wow he was a d!ck almost all the way through the book. I'm glad he finally realized what he had in Vivian. I like Vivian a lot, I saw myself in her. Too young to be doing the stuff she was doing, so was Ethan but they lived and learned.
I wish there could have been a scene where Judy, and Vivian's terrible, abusing ex received their comeuppance, but all in all I enjoyed the story, and like this author's voice.
They say there is a fine line between hate and love…. Vivian and Ethan liked to flirt with that line! Their story spans over years and I ate that story up!
Ethan lives in denial of his feelings even though everyone close to him can see the truth. The object of his denied obsession just became his step-sister. This is a shock to both of them.
Vivi hasn’t had the best life. Her mom is cruel with her comments always making her feel less than. When she springs a rich boyfriend on her Vivi knows without a doubt her mom is only after the money. The worst part is he is the dad of the boy who constantly pushes her buttons. The best part is that the man her mom married is actually a really great guy.
Things happen as they always do and Ethan does 99% of things wrong. 🤣. That 1% left is what Vivi does wrong! 🤣. The fun of this book is watching them push and pull each other to the end.
Indecent Intent is book one of the Port Stella Series.
This was a massive page turner for me. There is so much involved with this story I was blown away with how much was included in the story and it isn't overly long. We get a great story between Vivian and Ethan while also introducing side characters for future books.
Ethan needed to learn a thing or two about his communication skills. She has had such negativity in her life due to her mother and then at school she gets bullied by Ethan. Did he really think she wanted him in her life when she saw her chance at escaping?
I loved the relationship between Vivian and her step dad. He really was a great rock for her to have in her life while trying to navigate her interactions with Ethan. I loved his caring nature and even his little bits of being meddlesome.
This was an amazing start to the series and I cannot wait to delve into more.
Dude! What in the twisted sadness just happened?!?! The story started off one way and was headed down one path in my mind, then bam! Plot twist bring along with it pain and sadness. There is a chance that words were said that are inappropriate to be said while reading and enjoying an iced mocha latte at Starbucks.
Poor Vivi. Oh lordy did that girl get the shit end of the deal. Words cannot describe how much sympathy I felt for this girl. She needed a win and it never felt like it would happen for her.
Ethan. Douchcanoe. That’s it. Douchcanoe. To be fair, he had his shining moments. He just let his jealousy run the show. Not wise dude. Not wise.
Their story was twisted and sad, but it was also a good one. A little dirty too. Most taboo stories are. 😉 Vivi and Ethan were given a second chance and they plan on making the most of it.
I liked this book, but something was missing. The story had numerous time jumps and it lacked spice. I also felt the male side characters didn't have much personality, which made all of them blend together. There was no karma for Jackson, there should have been some sort of retribution and Grace deserved something too. Unfortunately, the ending ruined it for me. The character, Henry, literally says, don't get married for the child, do it for love. Hello? This would have been the perfect ending, but another pregnancy was added. Not a fan.
On a positive note, I liked the overall chemistry and connection between the characters, but I wish it didn't take until 90% of the book for the hero to realize he was in love.
Story ⭐.5 (rounded up to 2) Spice 🌶️ Darkness 🩶
TW/CW: Teen pregnancy, DV,l (not by the hero), Parental @buse, secret baby.

What starts as a bully romance with a couple scenes of Ethan being arse to Vivian turns into true love that is heavy on miscommunication and really lack of words. I swear both characters thought the other should have telepathic communication to predict what the other was thinking. Although there were outside extenuating circumstances that kept them apart for a bit it was really their own fault they were separated for so long. It felt unfinished that Vivian’s mom never came back or the ex BF for a third act bombshell. It was an ok read but it just seems like another go around with editing would’ve helped some of the story issues, like take out one of the miscommunication conversations and add in the psycho ex so they band together not against each other.
This was about Vivian. It was just her and her mom Judy. Judy always put Vivian down. While at school she was picked on by a guy Ethan. They grew up together. One day her mom told her they were going out to dinner to meet her new boyfriend. Turns out it was Ethan’s dad. They moved into the house after Judy and Evan got engaged. They went to Vegas and got married that same weekend. Evan allowed Ethan to have the end of school bash at their house instead of the beach because of the weather. Vivian met a guy Jackson and they started making out. When Ethan saw what was going on he stopped it and brought her to her room to sober up. He ended up staying with her. Vivian was put through a lot in this book. I loved it.
Okay textbook definition of bad communication. Ethan and Viv got on my nerves with how horrible they communicated. We get the story into timelines we see them as teenagers, and as adults. The banter was good and it flowed well. Viv’s mom was a tripped and i wish it was something more mention about her departure from there lives. We didnt get a follow up on jackson eithee but no one cares about him. I lost track of who all got pregnant. So many things was happening with the side characters as well 🤦🏾♀️ this book started off one way and ended the other. Thankful for that. So much happens in this book that you just got to read it for yourselves
Indecent Intent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ivy Penn Ethan and Vivian Great job! If you ever wanted a book that left you wanting more knowing you probably won’t get more. This is the book for you. Vivian’s mom ends up falling for Ethan’s dad, and decide to get married making Ethan and Vivian step-siblings. Vivian and Ethan both had a crush on each other, but because of their status in school, he became one of those enemies to lovers situation. Ivy Penn did a superb job, keeping your attention at every angle in this book, showing the emotions from both characters and the struggles because of one night. Would highly recommend this book to anyone.
Ivy Penn! What have you done to me? Have you ever read a book that once you start reading it, you can’t stop? Well, this is one of those books! The angst, oh the angst! Ethan frustrated the hell out of me. I wanted to reach in the book and slap him! Just when you think Ethan and Vivi’s story is going one way, it turns in another direction. Huge life decisions are affected by their unspoken feelings for each other. With help from their closest friends and “Pop Pop,” Ethan finally pulled his head out and Vivi’s confidence grew! This book is a beautifully well written story, Ivy! I’m diving into Henry’s story next!
"Game on, sweet little doe, this buck is about to show you who's boss."
This is book one in the port Stella series and what a start it was. I loved it. My first ever read by her and I just couldn't get enough of this dark, step siblings, enemies to lovers romance. I lapped it all up never putting it down. I was hooked from start to finish. Gripped to those pages. It's such a wild rollercoaster ride with twists and turns you don't see coming. That will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's action packed with spice, surprises , secrets and a bunch more things. The plot, storyline and character where fantastically written
Im so looking forward to book 2. Highly recommend!!
Indecent Intent is book 1 in the Port Stella series and my first read by this author but definitely not my last. This is a fantastic, dark, step siblings, enemies to lovers journey. This author takes us one wild ride with Vivian and Ethan. This book will keep you on your toes from start to finish. Surprises, secrets and lots of heat packed into these pages. There were times I laughed and countless times I was furious with Ethan but at all times I was hoping they'd get it together. Can't wait for book 2 in this series.
This was my first Ivy Penn book and I wasn't disappointed.
Since middle school, Ethan and Vivian have been enemies, always picking on one another whenever they can. Just when they think they get enough of each other at school, they find out that their parents are dating one another, and plan to marry. Vivian knows she shouldn't like her soon to be step brother, but she can't help her school girl crush. Ethan loves to pick on Vivian, always has, but he doesn't expect to develop feelings for her. One drunken night together changes their lives for forever.
Loved Vivian and Ethan’s story. This spans over several years of Vivian’s life. Great development of the main characters as well as all the additional secondary characters. Does end on a HEA and is told in DPOV.
The one thing I will say is that this book could have been rated higher but there was a lot of grammar and word flow that really needed to be fixed before releasing. It does mess with my flow of being “in” the story. Other wise a great story.
Why, oh why, am I drawn to the taboo?! I'll tell you why, Ivy. Freaking. Penn. I absolutely love her writing style. I would read anything she wrote. I love the, Love to Hate between Vivian and Ethan, even if there story is mop and bucket messy!! Don't worry guys, everything gets put back together for a really great HEA. You will not be disappointed with this read from the Port Stella Series, I promise you!
I will start off by saying I read this in one sitting and stayed up way past my bed time! Ethan oh Ethan, I hated him so much throughout this book for being so dumb and mean. Vivian had been through so much and she really just needed someone to be there for her. Ethan did have a right to be mad, but he took his anger out on her far beyond she deserved. But overall I really did enjoy this book and the HEA!
Vivian's school years were plague by Ethan, and even more so when he becomes her stepbrother! But as Vivian tries to move in in her life Ethan plans to be there every step of the way. Could he ever gain her affections the way he wants them? Well written steamy taboos, stepsiblings second chances and more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It was an interesting story, but not very deep. It skipped years at a time at certain points and brushed over many details and life events. While it is definitely a step sibling romance, it could be better by being more detailed and in depth. Overall it was entertaining and I enjoyed the characters.
Fun book with a couple EPIC twist i did not see coming. This book took me for a ride. There were alot of great elements and side characters! This book had all the things, tabboo and second chance. HS vibes. Misscomunication. Banter. pregnancies!
Bullying- enemies to lovers - pregnancy and more. This is the first story I've read by Ivy and it was amazing. I read late into the night and picked it up in the morning with my first cup of coffee. A great story by a great storyteller. And so happy to read there will be more set in the same world.
Great book I started reading and couldn't put it down till finished. Had to find out how it all turned out. I've never read any books by this author before looks like I'll be reading more.
First book to be read by the author Ivy Penn. This was such a exciting read from start to finish. The longing, the secrets, finally coming into their own. Such great writing, definitely plan to buy this book.
Not my favorite. It was good just too long which could have been done better. The description isn't right either. States he is a big money maker in business, that is not what is in the book. Over all it was good I say 3 1/2 stars.
I did like this book but it felt a little too long for what it was. A bit repetitive at times as well.
Vivian and Ethan kind of worked well together but it felt forced most of the time. Plus Ethan constantly assuming the worst of Vivian really got annoying for me. A few things felt thrown in just for the sake of progressing the story, making it feel a bit far-fetched and random.
Overall, it was a good book but could have been better IMO

So many novels (and real relationships) feature intense miscommunication….including this one! Viv is introduced to her mother’s new boyfriend who is also the father to her crush Ethan. When their parents go away to Vegas to get married the two get “toasted” and ……. Miscommunication ensues! These poor kids have so much to face and Viv makes some BAD choices…but I still enjoyed her character😉. I am excited to read about more of the Port Stella crew!
