A delightful tale about a girl who was offered a wolf for a pet.
Lucie has always wanted a pet dog, when her wish was granted, she wasn't really expecting a huge dog, with razor sharp teeth and a wild look .
Soon Lucie will discover that her dog is not only a wolf but a very special one, Wolfie or Fang as Lucie calls her is a talking wolf. As the days pass, a strong bond begins to form between the girl and her friend, but things won't be simple, a talking wolf, "ça ne court pas les rues" and the matter needs to be hidden from friends, family and the sneaky spy Lucie had for neighbour.
Together, the two friends will face problems that need trust, love, loyalty and a little magic to be overcome.

This magical tale is beautiful & enchanting, and which will capture your heart with its poignant message of love & friendship!!

This beautiful book is a delightful story that is utterly spellbinding, whisking its readers away on a most exciting adventure. Affecting and touching this beautiful story examines the real meaning of friendship & love, loyalty and trust that is so thought-provoking. Complete with stunning illustrations by Emma Chichester Clark that bring the narrative vividly to life before your very eyes, this is a story to treasure and which many children will be enthralled by it. Emma Barnes writing is so full of heart and emotion that one is able to connect with the story, whilst being also able to relate to the characters such as Lucie who is so well-crafted that you just want to follower her journey instinctively. The combination of strong storyline combined with fantasy and magic is just delightful, and which makes this book even more enchanting and an exquisite read!

This is the story of a young girl called Lucie who has always dreamed of owning a dog, and who finally gets her wish one very special day…But what Lucie does not expect to see is something with razor-sharp teeth and that is so large in size that totally opposes what she had imagined in her dreams, as something quite different being small, cute and fluffy. All too soon Lucie realizes that her new pet dog is not actually a dog at all but a Wolf! This Wolf is also quite unusual and no ordinary Wolf, for he possesses the most remarkable and unexpected magical powers. A talking Wolf is not only a surprise but is also something quite difficult to hide from your friends and family, hence Lucie has a challenge on her hands to keep Wolfie’s secret hidden especially from the inquisitive bully next door.

As Lucie grows to love Wolfie and their bond of friendship strengthens, she then begins to realize that her new companion is in the most terrible danger…

This stunning children’s tale is full of magic and mystery, which I concider to be a fantastical creation that is totally inspired. This story contains so much thrilling drama, twists & turns in the plot that make you gasp in shock and which sends chills down your spine as Lucie tries to help her new best friend. The cast of characters (both human and animal), from Silver Paw and Fang to Marcus makes this story is one that you really loose yourself within as they are so ‘real’ and memorable. I love how the adventure is so fast-paced that you are kept sat glued to the pages, reading in a frenzy, as the drama heightens and the story builds up to the most fantastic conclusion. This book I predict to be on every child’s Christmas list this year and also those that enjoy YA & younger reads. It is a treasure to behold with its dreamy cover and wonderful illustrations that complement the story so well and bring it to life; hence I certainly think that many children will be captivated by this wonderful book. If you love adventure, fantasy & magic and/ or animals then this is a must-read and a book that I would have devoured in an instant if I had have clapped eyes on it as a child!! I am certainly looking forward to reading Emma Barnes other stories, and both ‘how not to make bad children good’ & ‘Jessica Haggerthwaite: witch dispatcher’ are already on my to-read list!

*I would like to take this opportunity of thanking both ‘Girls Heart Books’ for holding the competition to win this book, and also the publisher ‘strident’ who sent me the copy of this magnificent book.*

A super book, loved the humour and the storyline! A very pleasant, amiable read. Cleverly put together with a 'moral to the tale or should that be tail?'! Looking forward to more Lucie and Wolfie tales in the future!
