She lost her family. Finding out why is the only thing keeping her going.
Libby Thompson's parents died years ago, and her brother's death leaves her virtually alone. Everyone says it was a suicide, but Libby knows the truth. She was there the night he was killed, and she wants nothing more than to let her grief fuel her hunger for the truth.
Fortunately Libby's best friend Rachel and a pair of new attractive companions, Richard and Hugo, promise to help. They discover that her father had been conducting secret government research, something her brother knew about as well.
But the people who want this research are still out there and now Libby is their primary target.
Can Libby juggle keeping herself safe with her growing attraction when she doesn't know who to trust or what to believe?
Unlinked is an exciting thriller with jaw-dropping twists, emotional revelations, and touches of romance.
A unique and partially sci-fi read. The only thing that brought it down from a 5 to a 4 in my rating was the poor editing. Many pages in approximately the first half of the story began with the last few lines of the previous page. It was all too obvious there was no final editing.
Libby is the main character and early in the story her brother, Jonathan, was murdered by a transient while on a break in the city with his classmates. From there the story goes to a brain implant she (and her brother) were given by her father before he died, with details relating to a science experiment he was involved in. Another scientist wants those details that are in Libby's implant and somehow links an implant he has to hers. There was no way to unlink herself from his implant without the help of a knowledgeable scientist friend and a near-death experience of her own.
This was certainly a thought-provoking thriller! Perhaps even the stuff of nightmares. Scary in a future of technology trope. The characters were all quite interesting and well developed. It just wasn’t my type of thriller, a bit too science fiction related for me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It brought you into the narrative so you got to the point where you didn't want to put the book down. Since there is really no closure, I am led to believe there will be a sequel. Pick this book up for an interesting read.
The story line was very interesting and there were definitely some twists and turns I did not expect! With the second book coming out soon, I can’t wait to see how the story develops even more.
This was unlike any stories I’ve read before but I usually don’t read sci-fi. Really unique concept. There is a big group of characters and I like how they all become and show that family comes in different forms. I have a few complaints. One is the characters emotions are all over the place - for example, one second angry at someone and after a one paragraph discussion everything is fine again. Second, the main character hates being lied to. Makes this statement throughout the book and yet the guys in this book lie to her over and over again. Im still looking forward to reading the sequel to see how this ends

I think this book is very interesting. I don’t think that it’s a bad book at all. I actually think it’s a 3.5.
It starts off with Libby brother passing and everyone talking about his death being a suicide. She however is very sure that is not what happened the night that he died. The story starts off almost making you think and feel that this poor girl is just grieving and going through the stages of grief. Maybe she is losing her mind at some point, but no. She is very convinced this is not what happened.
There’s something alongside it that no one else knows about that evening. There’s a twist that I don’t want to spoil in the review, but this book has me instantly hooked. When I was reading the beginning, what I thought happened wasn’t what was the outcome.
It’s a pretty interesting setup. I believe there is a 2nd book. I can’t wait to dive into the next installment.
