Lori Wilde can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.

She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.

Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.

She lives in her native Texas, with her own real-life hero, Bill.

In an idea, this book was long-form cosmo reading. I had wanted to read a steamy romance novel for a while for the simplest reason I never had before. They're obviously very popular and I wanted to see the hype for myself.

As I was reading this book, I kept thinking about what does a popular fantasy tell us about other people. Lori Wilde wrote a fantasy, presumably drawing from her personal fantasies, but also appealing to shared aspects of many other readers. The commonality of Wilde's fantasy is why she is successful.

My own fantasies didn't really overlap Wilde's but I found myself empathizing with those who did share her outlook. I think this empathy for another person's fantasy is surely a part of the genre's appeal. Empathy for another's person's fantasy is probably very helpful in real life too, ifyouknowwhatimsayinnnn.

In the mechanics of genre, I realized these romance novels are quite similar to fantasy novels (sword, sorcery and the like).

2 stars because it was worth my time, especially to explore a new genre, but nothing terribly special about the book itself ... although the dreamy descriptions of the main hunk, Alec RAMsey were hilarious, over-the-top and thoroughly entertaining.

4 Stars! ~ Eden's about to lose the biggest account her business has unless she finds some creative inspiration. Eden's made a huge success by designing erotic gift baskets; all are unique and designed with the recipient's personalities in mind. And to her rescue, in walks Alex, the studly sexy CEO of Single Guy magazine. He's looking for a basket specially designed for his partner and fiancée for their honeymoon. The intensity of their attraction is electric from the start, and soon Eden finds herself agreeing to Alex's proposition of a no-strings-attached fling. Only Eden has rules; they meet only twice a week, always at a hotel, never discuss anything personal like family and friends, and the affair ends in four weeks. Alex, the publicly professed bachelor for life, jumps at it. Eden wants this affair badly, not only for the inspiration for her business, but to help her over her fears of intimacy and exposing her scared body to a lover. Of course, she doesn't tell Alex that she's inexperienced sexually or that she has scars; he sees her as his sensual soul mate.

This is an awesome read! Fear of rejection has brought on Eden's creativity, and the passionate encounters that begin their fling all hide her body from Alex. Alex is in heaven and can't seem to get enough of Eden. He finds himself thinking of a longer term affair, and slowly his unbendable bachelor creed starts to waiver. Eden's physical scars are a huge issue throughout this book. But the more time she spends with Alex, the more she lets go and begins to trust in his compassion and caring. I loved both of these characters! This was a fun, sexy read with some real emotional depth too. Sensuality was VERY HOT Another for the keeper shelf
