“Like a knight without armor, no one here knows the truth. That is their downfall.” For decades, the tension between the two kingdoms – Conwald and Skovlar – has been stretched tight with the unspoken threat of war, but when a treaty is arranged, Keira Feldman believes peace is near. Daughter of a simple farmer in southern Conwald, Keira watches from the roadside as the Skovlarin king and his son, Prince Wilkin, approach. But things are not as they appear. When murder threatens the fate of both kingdoms, the commoner and the prince are thrown into an unexpected adventure fraught with peril, fear, and unlikely friendship. But humans aren’t their only hunters. From deep in the Foreboding Woodlands, a mysterious force of evil converges on the broken kingdoms. As their world collides with the powers of the unseen, Wilkin and Keira must discover the truth. Beautiful, deep, and breathtaking, Truthcry tells of the battle between darkness and light through a Christian perspective. While this book contains elements of violence, it is clean, with no gore, sex, or swearing.

“If the Enemy inhabits one’s mind for a long time, their attacks and whisperings become all that person has ever known, something that is familiar and normal. Their eyes cloud over until they are unable – or unwilling – to see their own corruption.”
Sweet story about faith and the powers of good vs evil. I thought the writing was good and it had a great message. My only complaint was it moved too slow for me, and took me a while to get through it. Would recommend for those who like the fantasy genre with faith building and an allegorical view.
I loved the parallels this book makes between the dark ones' 'power'/the Maker's voice and the actual daily battle every person faces in his or her mind. The Bible tells us to renew our minds, and this story is quite the illustration of the spiritual battles we all face to reject the lies of the enemy and embrace God's truth!
A time of knights and fair maidens who are also fighting a spiritual battle. Learning to stand on the promises of the Maker, they push the forces of darkness back and are still in the battle! I NEED TO READ A SEQUEL! loved this book!
A great beginning to an epic fantasy series. I'm eager to discover how Kiera and Wilkin rely on the Maker to overcome their current obstacles and prevail against the Dark Ones in the next book.
Found the story to be captivating and a unique fantasy with a message of faith interspersed through the adventure the characters are traveling. Looking forward to reading more.
I was, and I am amazed! I loved the novel, and the biblical truths and scriptures in it.
Also the battles between Satan's fallen angels ( the dark ones), and God's people. I also, liked that the author showed the battles believers often have, from fear, to pride and everything in between!
The author, portrayed in her writing, how the enemy whispers either things to make you feel a total failure or on the other hand, how great you are, and how you can conquer everything all by yourself ( no need for God).
However, I just HAVE to mention.... this novel reads as written by a very mature, well seasoned, veteran author.... ONLY... the author was 17!!!
Truly! I am astonished, shaking my head in disbelief, and even gobsmacked!
There were times, I was so moved, I had to stop reading and pray, because, I saw myself in some of the characters.... it was that good!
I will most certainly read the next in the series, and gosh, I can't imagine the level of excellence, when this author turns 18!!
Oh my goodness I could go on forever about how amazing this book is! The storyline was super interesting and full of adventure and the characters and setting were so well written it all felt so real! I also loved all the horses in the book and how the author describes them beautifully. As a horse girl myself, I really enjoyed all the equestrian terms that were used, as well as the sweet friendship Keira had with her horse. While I loved these things about TruthCry, the best thing to me about this story were the spiritual journeys and lessons Keira and Wilkin experienced. Though their journey takes place in another world, the lesson of Wielding the Truth against the Darkness is something we all desperately need to hear today. We really need more books like TruthCry in today’s world. I loved the ending of the book as well! Though it was a cliff hanger (which I liked), it ended with a feeling of hope.
Definitely my new favorite book! I can’t wait for Book 2!
This book reminds me a little of my own daughters' books. We are kindred spirits. 🙂 I enjoyed the horses in the book and can always tell if someone really knows them. I love my heavenly Father and like the way the story is woven with truth. I could go on quite a while, but suffice it to say that this book is a breath of fresh air! I would like to read the next in the series. May God bless your writing as you glorify Him!
It takes me a long while to get into a book and I was worried I wouldn't be able to stick with this one, but I sure did. It had the perfect flow of slower start to a "No, don't stop here!" ending. If I had one critique, it would just be the occasional overuse of a word. But it was negligible to the scope of the story. I was delighted to be able to read a good, clean (no swearing, no spice), fantasy book with clear biblical values. It encouraged me and gave me a sense of adventure that I haven't read in a while. I am excited to go on to the next book. Thank you!
Clean which is super important. Really well written. Would recommend. I can’t wait for the next book…..which is the only negative, I don’t care for books that don’t have resolution. Well done for such a young author!
Great book about the unseen fight between God and evil, believeable characters, nearly perfect writing only sometimes a bit too much description otherwhise a fantastic read. Well done!!!!
An In Depth Content Guide: 🤐 Language: Blast is said once; many curses are said but not written 💋 Romantic Content: Nondescript hand kisses (some are more chivalrous than romantic); nondescript flirty feelings and attraction between two characters; many mentions of a mother who died in childbirth (though it is past tense it still gets semi-descript) ⚔️ Violence: Moderate semi-descript including: blood; wounds; sword fights; death; murder; dead bodies; a mention of a head on a platter 👻 Spiritual Content: This is a Christian book, therefore there are Christian themes (such as prayer, mentions and worship of God, mentions of church, etc.); A man is possessed by a Dark One (While I normally don’t read books that contain demons or even mere mentions of them, this element didn't make me uncomfortable. Mostly because of the spiritual battle symbolism behind it and how gingerly the author handled it. The man who is possessed only appears in a few scenes at the end of the book.); 3 mentions of demons (no details); The Dark Ones represent demons ⭐️ Other Content Considerations: Pubs; tobacco; beer 🧑🧑🧒🧒 Age Rating: 13/14+
My Review: Truthcry was such a breath of fresh air — the kind of book that makes you forget about everything else you were supposed to be doing. From the first few pages, I was hooked. The story has a beautiful spiritual undercurrent that feels genuine and uplifting, not forced or preachy.
The worldbuilding is gorgeous — vivid enough that you can almost see it, but not so heavy that it slows the story down. And the characters? So well done. They feel real, like people you could actually meet. Austin, especially, completely won me over.
There were moments that had my pulse racing and others that made me slow down just to savor the writing. It’s one of those books that’s genuinely hard to put down — you keep telling yourself “just one more chapter,” and suddenly it’s way past bedtime.
Another thing I loved: it’s clean. It’s a story that is truly safe to hand to younger readers without a second thought. Honestly, I’d recommend it to teens and adults alike.
