Dr Heuschmann explores what it means to be a 'responsible rider', and asks whether, in today's society, it is indeed possible for riders in any horse sport to put the good of the horse first and foremost - most pointedly above ambition and fame.
There is no doubt that riding physically affects the horse. Riders can do themselves and their horses a favor by reading this book. It is full of explanations on the adverse effects that riding and training practices have on horses' physical and mental well being.
I always enjoy this author's work. I am confident that one day in the future he will take another look at the photographs enclosed and revise his position on bits and the pain and damage they cause.
