Campus Legends #2

How to Win the Girl

Rate this book
I, Drake Colter, solemnly swear I do not want a girlfriend…

Carefree and ridiculously good-looking, I have the entire student body eating from the palm of my hand—shouldn’t I let the ladies on campus have their fill rather than being tied down?

If only my brother Drew would take notes from my playbook. As identical twins, we share the same voice, the same face, and the same physique; it’s virtually impossible to tell us apart—but that’s where the similarities end.

Lately, my brother has been whining about wanting to settle down. He longs for affection, companionship and all the bullshit that goes along with it blah blah blah .

Problem is, he’s hopeless when it comes to dating. It’s seriously embarrassing to watch, considering we’re identical; everyone thinks I’m him and everyone thinks he’s me.

Luckily I’m not intimidated by women and have plenty of experience. I might not want to find myself a girlfriend, but that don’t mean I can’t help him. Dude never needs to know!

And that’s the very thing that lands me in trouble…

Drake is the word for How to Win thr Girl. And he won indeed. He is a jerk but he is softie. Good thing Miss Ney balances his character with Daisy. She takes no crap or abuse form Drake. And these two are super cute together.

I almost miss this book and then I remember I read the first book. I am so glad be able to read this.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: twin swap, mistaken identity
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥

Super cute and laugh out loud funny! Drake Coulter is sick of his brother moping around and decides to proactively help him find a girl. He sets up a fake dating profile and gets a "hit" on a girl that he had an altercation with while attending one of his brother's classes for him. When he starts chatting Daisy up, Drake finds he actually likes her and thinks she will be good for his brother, but is struggling with his own attraction for her. Eventually, everyone is going to find out about the game Drake is playing, but he never expected to have such a stake in the fall out.

I really enjoyed this one! Thought it was a cute enemies to lovers. It moved pretty well, but slowed down a bit after the half-way point. I really liked the characters. They were truly funny and Drake wore his "full of himself" quite well and the banter between the two of them was spot on. Daisy is very grounded and likable and totally called Drake out on his bull. They both had something to offer the other, but it was extra fun to the see the confirmed bachelor fall. The story made me super excited for Drew's story since he's been acting so mysterious :) Probably not my favorite of the series, but still really enjoyable!

Sara is always a one-click author for me. I love her books, I just didn’t love this one.

I knew going in that I wasn’t a fan of Drake. He’s your typical manwhore jock. It always confused me why he did so much sleeping around when his older brothers pounded it in his head to be careful with the football groupies. He never did heed that warning.

I liked the heroine. She was spunky and didn’t fall all over Drake. And when it came out that he was pretending to be Drew, his twin, she was mature about it. Drama free girl here, which I loved.

I knew the next door neighbor that Drake has been banging (for 8 months!) was gonna bite him in the ass. I was not wrong.

I’m really looking forward to Drew’s story. Drew is definitely more my type of hero. Can’t wait to find out the love interest. Maybe the high school girlfriend that ghosted him?

I was so hopeful for this book. It looked amazing. And don’t get me wrong. It was great. I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy and was quick to read it.

The story line was great but at times predictable. Twins playing the switch game on a girl so one can help the other twin improve his love life or be happier? It’s not really explained. Something is up with Drew. Whether it’s that he’s stressed with school or hating football, just wanting a steady relationship ? We don’t know. I kept waiting for the explanation but it never happened. And yes I know the story is about Daisy and DRAKE…but it all stars because Drake wanted to help his brother Drew.

Obviously it wouldn’t be long before Daisy realised that the twins had switched on her. So we knew that would be the conflict and it was easily resolved.

The story was cute and had some funny moments. Drew seemed like the stereotypical jock who was full of himself and Daisy hated that but at some point grew to love it I guess. It was all very fast paced

I think , in my opinion , we could have done without some of the extra characters. Like the roommate gabbi. She was just there to be a thorn in the side of everyone but had no real point in the book.

My favorite part of all was the gf of one of the brothers, Ryann. She might be my favorite character of the book. She doesn’t get a lot of time but her whole moment with Daisy, explaining how the world of WAGS works and how she didn’t try to defend it Drake but just explain how the dating an athlete comes with it’s challenges but it’s worth it if the love is real. It was a super heartwarming moment.

All in all it was a quick and fun read !

This is such a fun, hilarious and entertaining romance with incredibly likable characters.
Drake and Daisy start out with a bit of mutual contempt for each other. It’s an opposites attract with enemies to lovers vibes.
I absolutely loved the twin switch situation that Drake gets himself into. It is quite the predicament as he pretends to Daisy to be his brother, Drew. Obviously things get complicated fast.
It is a fairly slow burn romance. But, their chemistry is fiery and simmering very hot.
The amount of hilarious and clever banter and texting kept me completely engaged, entertained and laughing.
Drake seems cocky and carefree…and he is confident and easy going. He’s also really comical, witty and a bit absurd in the best way. He’s so humorous and has a sweetness underneath the carefree, say anything attitude.
Daisy is straightforward, she says what she thinks and she lacks a filter a bit which makes for such amusing interactions between the two characters. Their banter and jokes are fantastic! I absolutely adore their interactions, their shared sense of humor is refreshing and plain old fun entertainment.
It’s a low angst, low drama college romance that is so entertaining, lighthearted and the chemistry is really HOT. The sexual aspect is as fun and unique as the characters other interactions. They burn hot and are adventurous, they’re super sexy together. Another RomCom winner by this author for me.

This was a fun read! Sara Ney is one of the best at writing opposites attract romances!

Drake's decision to insert himself in his brother's life goes topsy-turvy when he meets Daisy. This enemies to friends to lovers but with a mistaken identity twist kept me glued to the pages and entertained all the way through.

I loved these two! Drake's self-assurance should come off as cocky and a turn-off, but it becomes comical, and you can't help but smile at him, especially when the script gets flipped on him. Daisy is unapologetically herself, which is a breath of fresh air for not just Drake but also for me, the reader.

I can't wait to see what Drew's story will be about and who will be the one to catch his attention.

3.5 stars rounded it up.

This was an entertaining read. I liked Drake but have to say Dallas is still my favorite brother.

Drake and Daisy's banter was super entertaining. This girl did not pull her punches, and it was hilarious to witness. I didn't care for the drama with the neighbors at the end only because it felt repetitive because of the first book.

All in all, how to win the girl was a solid read, and I'm really looking forward to Drew's book.

I received an ARC, and this is my honest review.

The hero here was a hoot 🤣 😁 the way his mind worked was hilarious and so weirdly endearing 🙌👑

The banter was top notch, bonus points for witty texting exchanges (idk what it is, but gimme funny texting in a book, and I'm putty in your hands) 😭😅😜

Once they actually got together, it became lame tbh, but still a fun read 🙌

Don’t Give Up.

I went through a wave of emotions when reading this book. I was hoping that Drake wasn’t too cocky that he couldn’t be redeemable, and I glad to say he was just enough and not overconfident. I did start to have major doubts that I’d not finish the story because of the way their relationship starts. I’m never ok with lying or deception and I’m glad it wasn’t something that went on long. I adored the way that Drake fell for Daisy and how he showed his vulnerable side along with his distinct personality. It was fun seeing him navigate having a girlfriend for the first time and try not to stuff it up. Daisy had her own growth too while dating Drake, for one, she learnt what being a WAG is. 😆 I’m so glad I didn’t give up on this couple and got to see them reach their HEA.
Now I’m ready for the last Coulter brother - Drew is up next.

Swiping at love!

Drake Colter decides his brother Drew needs a girlfriend and signs him up to a dating app. When taking a class for his brother so that he can finish another assignment, Drake annoys Daisy, a girl in front of him. When he sees her on the dating app, he clicks on her and they start to message each other. When Drake finally confesses what he's done, he admits he likes Daisy and they start to date. As they get closer and closer, Drake realises that he wants Daisy to be his first girlfriend. Will she return the feeling? When his neighbour from hell causes trouble will Daisy understand or take it as a sign that they shouldn't be together?
This was a fantastic read from Sara. I love the Colter brothers and their strong, take no messing girlfriend's. Can't wait to see who Drew finally ends up with!

So, I thought I loved Dallas but I was wrong. I really liked Drake. The Colter brothers are campus legends and everyone knows them except for Daisy. Drake and Drew are twins, they have that twin power thing. But lately Drew has been retreating and Drake thinks he should help find him a girl friend. I think its both sweet and weird how involved Drake is in his bothers life, But then I remember he's a twin. Trying to to be nice his good deed back fires and chaos ensues. I love the banter and Drake's southern charm and drawl. Once I started reading this I couldn't put it down. And really thats all I ask for in a book when I can't focus and have been in a book slump. I can't wait to read Drew's story.

Are you trying to tell me this guy didn’t wanna F his brother?

I get that the MMC is an egomaniac. But his attraction to his brother is BIZARRE AND IDC THAT THEY ARE TWINS SO HE ALSO LOOKS LIKE HIM. The lack of boundaries & his mindset were so freaky. This man wants to f his brother. The dynamic between the two was not a cute quippy back & forth, try as hard as the author might. This was just not it. It took me way too many tries to digest this & I wish I hadn’t tried so hard to

ARC kindly provided for the author in exchange for an honest review

I LOVE the humor that Sara Ney brings to her books! Her stories are ALWAYS hilarious, with interesting love stories and very peculiar characters, and in How to Win the Girl she also gave me a fun , different plot with unexpected twists and that I couldn't put down until finished.

I think Sara Ney writes some of the best heroines in romance books, and Daisy was certainly amazing, a girl who isn't afraid to say what she thinks, who face those who bother her and with a charismatic personality that made me love her so much, also, she's looking for a serious relationship and knows very well what she wants from her potential partner. One of the things I loved the most while reading her was the way she confronted Drake when he started bothering her, the strength of her character and the maturity with which she faced various situations throughout the book.

Drake was a bit more difficult to love than the rest of the Colter boys, his personality is too cocky, sometimes he only thinks of him and makes mistakes in his eager to help Drew, his twin brother, and although I didn't like his attitude at the beginning of the book, I have to say that I was surprised by the way he dealt with his growing feelings for Daisy, showing that he can also be a sweet, tender, understanding, adorable, vulnerable and sometimes insecure boy.

The love story between Drake & Daisy begins, and unfolds, in an unconventional way: Drake pretends to be his brother Drew to help him with his dating problems, best of all, Daisy can't stand Drake at first, but the closeness makes them get to know each other more and more, showing that they have incredibly fun chemistry. BUT Drake has been lying to Daisy and when everything is discovered the plot takes an unexpected turn that makes the relationship between these two much more tender, cute and hilarious.

oh my god. i was obsessed!! this book is so good. and i’m totally in love with drake colter. this book was so thrilling especially in the middle of the book.

drake making a dating profile for his twin brother drew and going on a date pretending to be drew? what could go wrong, huh?

and daisy!! i love her! all 3 colter girlfriends are incredible and awesome.

i was eating this book up !! i am so happy that i received an ARC because for one this book is so good and also because i read the first book too and i love that one too!!

i hope y’all love this book as much as i do!!

i absolutely loved dallas’ book as well as drake’s and now i need a book for drew !!! he is adorable and i know i’m going to love him. i wonder if there’s a book about duke and his girlfriend? because i would read that too!

(SPOILERS!!)

okay here are my thoughts with spoilers!!

first of all oh my god. drake was down BAD for daisy. he liked her so much that i knew it and drew knew it too even before he realized it himself.

and omg the „revenge“ plan?? that’s the part where i was screaming !!! because i just the thought of it gave me butterflies !! when i thought about how miserable drake would be when his plan to find a girlfriend for drew just backfired.

but him as boyfriend was soo adorable i can’t !!

the only thing i didn’t like was that drake kissed and went down on daisy before he knew that drew and daisy just pretended to be in love. so technically he kissed his brother‘s girlfriend. i know that daisy and drew just pretended but drake i did not know that. that’s what really put me off. but i can see past that, i guess..

i now hope drew finds his love too and that he admits to himself and his family that he doesn’t really want to play pro.

If you are looking for a fun, college sports romance, then look no further than this book! Sara Ney has brought the banter, along with the heat for this one.

Drake has three brothers, one of which is his twin Drew, who he is the closest with. So close that when Drew announces that he wants to get a girlfriend, Drake is right there setting up a dating app and vetting girls to deem good enough for his brother. Which his brother Drew does not know about. Drake even takes it so far as to switch places with Drew in one of his classes. Which is where he meets Daisy. They did not get off on the right foot and when Drake, pretending to be Drew, swipes right on her on the dating app. And they start chatting and have a healthy banter going back and forth.

Drake takes Daisy out on a date to make sure that she's good enough for Drew, but at the end of the date, Drake kisses Drew and makes everything 100 times more complicated.

I don't want to spoil the rest, but I love how the reveal was done with Daisy finding out the truth and how it was handled afterwards. Drake was an interesting character - he was really hard to like in the beginning - from how he talked about women to his blatant deceit, but when the book goes on, you realize that that is just how Drake is. He does not mean any malice with it; he's just a very blunt and honest person and I think that he fit perfectly with Daisy!

Now let's talk about Daisy - man I loved this girl! She was so sassy and blunt and she was exactly the type of girl that Drake needs. He doesn't need someone who is going to coddle him.

I would love to see where they end up in 5 years in an extended epilogue!

Once you have a few Sara Ney books under your belt, you know the drill; you’re in for a damn good time! HOW TO WIN THE GIRL was no exception. Daisy and Drake were so much fun together! They knew how to get the other going and did just that every time they were together. Things may have started with Drake pushing Daisy’s buttons in a non-romantic way, but trust me - that did not last long. Heat quickly crept in. The thing I really liked about Drake in this book was how self aware he was, and how he wasn’t afraid of self-reflection. He was thinking about what it was he really wanted from life, and sometimes even more importantly, what he didn’t. I love how he was drawn to Daisy and just went for her. (After a few minor mishaps.) I also loved his relationship with his brothers, and I can’t wait to go back and read his older brother Dallas’ book, which was the one that kicked off the CAMPUS LEGENDS SERIES. I loved how he had the best of intentions for his twin, Drew, and how even if his execution wasn’t quite on target, it was clear he loved his brother. As for Daisy, I enjoyed her character as well. Drake’s ultimate hotness rarely made her think twice. Sure, she had insecurities, but she made it clear to Drake that he would be taking her as she was, thank you very much. And she was always open and honest with him about what she wanted. Toss in some hot sexiness (obviously - this is Sara Ney) and you have one heck of a story here!

HOW TO WIN THE GIRL was a fantastic read that should not be missed. As for me, I can only hope Drew’s book is up next! I want to see what Cupid has in store for this Colter brother!

I liked Dallas' book so was excited to see Drake had a book too. Drake always reminded me of Trace "Buzz" Wallace one of my favorite books by the author. The way he talks and acts. He had a superiority complex so to speak when you're in his POV. Difference from Buzz is his is meant jokingly where as I think Drake means it. He's pretty douchey. I wasn't a huge fan.

Anyway Drake finds his twin brother in a rut or his opinion of one and thinks a better love life will help him. He and Drew like to do the twin switch thing which I find them to old to be doing. So he goes on a dating app against his twins wishes and pretends to be him when he swipes on a classmate Daisy. They didn't get along in class but once they match on the app they talk a lot and get to know each other. Thing is Drake is sort of falling for his twins match they both seem to be fighting their chemistry. Thus chaos of that. When the ruse is up they need to figure out where they stand.

I'm glad that part is over. Now Drake has to convince Daisy he's a good bet. They need to rekindle their feelings. All the while I'm still wondering what's up with Drew as well. He does seem different from the previous book. Daisy and Drake are an opposite attracts in a way. I like how they bonded during and after the scheme. Now the only thing to do is get on the same page on where their relationship is headed. Drake seems reluctant to be in one but that his brothers have and they became better. I like their banter and they're fun but serious they are not. Especially Drake but that's his charm. Sara Ney's signature douchey jock with heart is back.

☆ 5/5 & 3/5 spice

At first, I didn’t realize that this was the second book, so I recently went back and just finished Dallas & Ryann’s book and their banter was amazing, but the banter between Drake and Daisy was top tier amazing. Their banters and text messages had me laughing and feeling giddy.

Daisy and Drake met when he was acting as his twin brother, Drew by taking classes for him. Then later, he signed Drew up for an online dating profile, where he matches with Daisy. I like how they were enemies to lovers before their relationship developed into something more.

Daisy was such an independent, smart, straight forward, and a sassy FMC while Drake is a playful, arrogant, sarcastic, and charming guy. Daisy literally does not put up with anyone’s crap and speaks her mind. She’s such a breath of fresh air to see someone who is so strong and feisty being in control. They balance each other out so well with their playfulness and sarcasm. I adore the playful and fun relationship that Daisy and Drake have so much!

If you enjoy enemies to lovers, grumpy x sunshine, and sports romance where there are mistaken identity x twin impersonation — check this book out! The plot was engaging, the couple’s interaction will keep you laughing, and there’s also lots of chemistry.

I liked this book! The first one in the series is still my favourite, but Drake stole my heart. I loved both characters and they made a fantastic couple. Drake fell hard for his girl, and it was great to read him as a reformed manho although he didn’t know it at the time. 🫣 Never thought I would love a manho hero that much. 😅 But this is how the plot of a manho finding his girl should be written! I liked the part where Drake pretended to be his twin Drew. You just knew Drake was digging himself a hole, and I was curious how he would get out of it. 😂 The author did an amazing job and this storyline didn’t go on too long. There was enough time for the romance build up. Drake and Daisy made such a cute couple. I liked them together and the fact that they complimented each other. There was a lot of bantering and I especially liked reading their text messages. There are a few snippets to Drew’s storyline and I’m really looking forward to read his book. There is some drama involved, but for most of it, this is just a sweet romance with some sexy scenes. Drake and Daisy made this book and Drake was one of the best hero’s this author has written. I was swooning the entire time (oh well, from the moment he met Daisy 😬) and was rooting for him to get the girl. His inner thoughts were hilarious to read. It made me like him even more! There were some obstacles along the way and that made it more fun to read. I couldn’t put this book down and I’m now patiently waiting for the next book 😇

Drake Colter might just be the best Colter. This man had me laughing frequently. Not only that though he's caring, compassionate, and discovering new things about himself. Daisy was the perfect match for him. She's sassy, strong, sarcastic, independent, and not putting up with his stuff. Their meet cute was unique, and honestly quite memorable. I can 100% see Drake bouncing his knee, clicking his pen, and so many other things while trying to concentrate on a boring lecture.

This is the first book I've read about twins switching places, and Sara Ney had me enjoying it throughout. I will say that I am now even more curious about Drew's story. If Drake felt the need to do what he did for his brother, I need to know what's going through Drew's head.

I loved how Daisy and Drew handled everything that went down, and how that affected Drake. This man who thought he would never fall, has fallen harder than his older brothers did.

How to Win the Girl had me experiencing a variety of emotions/feelings. From laughter, to swooning, to wanting to smack Drake, to irritation with Shannon, and wanting the best for Daisy. Such a great book from Sara Ney.

I know some of you are asking how I could have read this book, because Drake Coulter probably isn't my type of guy. The answer is clearly because Sara Ney wrote it and I trust her. I don't know that I could have read it if anyone else had written it. I trusted her to turn Drake around for me, and that is just what she did.
Drake wants to find Drew a girlfriend, and while attending his Mass Comm class for him, he finds just the girl. Daisy is a spitfire and after matching with her on the profile he sets up for Drew and then talking with her, he knows she's the perfect catch. What he doesn't realize though, is how it is going to feel when he passes her off. You see, he isn't in the market for a girlfriend, but those are the guys who fall the hardest, amiright?
Daisy and Drake have the best banter. The humor that Sara pours into her books is what makes me coming back for more and more. I am so excited to see what is next for Drew, because it's obvious there's a great story lurking there.
I can't get enough of these Coulter boys.

Being back reading one of Sara's book is such a good feeling. I didn't know how much I missed her sports romcoms until I ended up reading one again.

Gosh, I loved the concept of this story. An identical twin wanting to find a gf for his brother ending up falling for the chosen one. I had a great time reading this and did even LOL from time to time. I loved Drake and Daisy's banter, especially the texts.

I wasn't a huge fan of Drake at first, because he seemed to be a massive self-centered athletic a-hole. A real douche. But I ended up having a thing for him at the end.
I really liked Daisy though from the beginning. By just being herself and drama free (mature handling of situations most of the time), not giving Drake the time of the day. She's like a breath of fresh air.

I think it must have been hard to write this book with identical twins and the switching. And sometimes it's very confusing reading. Which is why I'm not quite sure that it was me that couldn't follow some times correctly or if there have been some minor mistakes here and there.

So Drake, oh my gosh, he was a total character! So over the top, so douchey seeming, but not really douchey in the ways that matter. The banter between Drake and Daisy was fun. It’s interesting though that he even mentioned things about himself when he was pretending to be Drew that are different appearance related things, but then she pretended to not realize when they were getting him back. I did enjoy the getting Drake back part. Now, I was a little disappointed that the big dramatic issue at the end was pretty similar to the last book, but I liked how the author handled the fixing of the problem.

I am definitely looking forward to Drew’s book now, and wondering if Drew might not be going on to play football like the rest of his family, if maybe he’ll go to more of a science field? Can’t wait to find out!

I loved this! Drake and Daisy start off real rocky- first they annoy each other, then he pretends to be his twin to chat with her, THEN there's other issues. I was surprised she was so forgiving about him impersonating his brother. But he's super charming and she gets over it. They had good banter and this was entertaining for sure. I highlighted a bunch of parts that amused me.

I like how these two accept each other as is, I like how they fool around in a few public-ish places, and I like how well they communicate and open up. There are books out about 2 of Drake's brothers, and still one single bro, but you can read this completely on it's own.
