Tone Takle and Lise Kolstad, authors of SWEATERS, offer a book for beginners and experienced knitters alike--both for use and inspiration. An abundance of charts, sketches, detailed studies, and photos depict the endless possibilities, with 21 detailed patterns inspired by the Norwegian tradition.
This is the second book by authors Lise Kolstad and Tone Takle and I think this is actually the better of the two. There's more information on designing your own graphic patterning, striping, and using color. The photography and sweaters are, perhaps, even more enthusiastic than the first! The designs are Norwegian-inspired and there's miles and miles of fine gauge stockinette to these sweaters! Shapes are still oversized, and dated, but there is so much to inspire here.
Norwegian designers Kolstad & Takle are very talented. Many of the designs are now dated, but some are timeless, such as Model 14a, "An A-shaped Cardigan"(p.99). It features an 8-point star repeat in graduating-size stars nearer the bottom.
I could do without the hats and tights, however -- they're way too funky for my taste.
