In the mid-1970s, a group of boys in Central Texas find themselves being pursued by a vicious creature that is half-bird and half-human. The creature is known as the Witchbird, or by its Spanish name Lechuza. Summer vacation is in full swing, and she has been seen on the prowl again...looking for her next victim. In spite of the Witchbird, the boys are determined to have a great summer doing all the fun things that kids do in a small town to fight off boredom. They are certainly scared but refuse to let her ruin their summer. Come and join them on an adventurous time that is sure to keep you entertained! You will laugh and might even cry, but I promise you won't ever be bored. However, I have to warn you that you might find yourself scared!!! So don't read this under the covers with a flashlight. Leave all the lights on!!!!
Great book! It was both scary and sweet. It reminded me a lot of To Kill a Mockingbird--a wonderful picture of growing up in the south, but without the heavier topics. Highly recommend.
