She has taken additional courses from the University of Minnesota and from the University of Mexico in Mexico City. She has taught at both the junior high and high school level in Illinois and Minnesota as well as at the American schools in Quito, Ecuador, and Guadalajara, Mexico. She currently resides in Juarez, Mexico, where she works with young people and is working on a Spanish youth curriculum.
