Pamela Britton

With over a million books in print, Pamela Britton likes to call herself the best known author nobody’s ever heard of. Of course, that’s begun to change thanks to a certain licensing agreement with that little racing organization known as NASCAR.

Nowadays it’s not unusual to hear her books being discussed by the likes of Jay Leno, Keith Olbermann, or Stephen Colbert. Flip open a magazine and you might read about her, too, in Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, or Southwest Airlines’ Spirit Magazine. Channel surf and you might see her on CNN, ESPN, ABC or NBC.

But before the glitz and glamour of NASCAR, Pamela wrote books that were frequently voted the best of the best by The Detroit Free Press, Barnes & Noble (two years in a row) and RT BOOKclub Magazine. She’s won numerous writing awards, including the National Reader’s Choice Award, and a nomination for Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart and the Holt Medallion.

When not following the race circuit, Pamela writes full-time from her ranch in Northern California where she lives with her husband, daughter and, at last count, twenty-one four-legged friends.

If you'd like to chat with Pamela you can find her on her myspace where she loves to hangout with her readers.

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure I was going to. I'm a Nascar fan and didn't see how this would work out. She really does make it work. The plot is a little outrageous but I enjoyed the FBI being involved. I'm not going to do a plot summary when other reviewers have already did that better than I could. I loved the character interaction and as a reader, you really get to know the characters. I enjoyed the secondary characters, especially Lance who the second book is about. It takes you into the garages and some of the fabulous house in the NC area. I would highly recommend this book to the action adventure Nascar fans.

I liked this one, but then again, I'm biased. I'm a racing fan at heart - although it's a love of Drag Racing, not NASCAR. What I like about the NASCAR series through HQ is that the authors are female and know what they're talking about as far as car, garage and track knowledge/lingo goes. Great story, I liked the suspense and the action. If you're a NASCAR fan, you'll love it. If you're not, you'll be surprised; the book may just turn you into a NASCAR fan, LOL!

I didn't hate the heroine - Cece - but I did think she was a moron for most of the story.

First, I'll say that the story was good. It was entertaining and humorous, with moments of tenderness and suspense.

Blaine was a decent guy who obviously cared immensely for his crew members. I'm not into guys crying very often, but I felt like Blaine expressed his emotions honestly and appropriately.

Cece, however, was a terrible FBI agent. She cussed out a head honcho and released confidential information to the media out of anger at her superior officer. A smart FBI agent, when stonewalled by the local Boys Club, would have contacted her superior officer back home instead of acting like a 3rd grader and reacting out of spite. I can't believe she didn't get fired before.

As for the final issue (), I felt it was unneccessary. Like Britton just decided she needed one more obstacle for Cece and Blaine to overcome. Mix things up a little bit. I thought they had enough problems to deal with.

So yeah, another cute story. I dunno if this is a series, but a story about Lance would be quite welcome. I'm typing this up in a text document because my internet is down, so I can't check on that, but I will.

Lea and Blain have a history and not a good one, so she is surprised when Blain requests her to be the one to investigate the death of his friend and driver Randy. Not even sure that there is something suspicious she is pressured by her boss to accept the assignment.

Blain is pleasantly surprised when he sees Lea again and even more so when he realizes that he's attracted to her. But he is aware that they shouldn't get involved romantically, because after all he could be a suspect as well and it would definitely be against the rules to sleep together.

Everything gets even more complicated when the murderer targets Blain and Lea.

All in all I liked the book, the things about NASCAR that I learned, the interaction between the team members. The only thing that bothered me is the way that Blain acted in the end bothered me.

4 stars.

This one actually starts of Britton's Nascar series, but I ended up reading it last. I was shocked at the difference of the sexual relationship in this book vs. the others. This was went into much more detail where as the others left it up to the readers imaginations. Either way is good, but this one is definitely has more steam than the others.

Dangerous Curves

Another race car story. This one the heroin is an FYI agent who used to race as a teen. The hero would end up losing to her. Now he needs her help to figure out who killed his driver. And sabotaging the races. But with their chemistry ready to combust..it's a toss up where the explosion Wil be. On the track or them? Will she figure out in time who is trying to stop Blain or will Cece end up being fired for getting to close to a civil who could be the suspect instead of victim.

About 4 weeks ago, Tony and I went to a NASCAR race here in Las Vegas - first time for both of us. I was stunned by the number of women in the crowd! Tony told me about the Harlequin Romance line of NASCAR books (he teaches a strategy case about Harlequin) and how maybe this was driving the number of women fans. So of course, I had to go check it out! Well, for $1.99 you too can read Dangerous Curves on your Kindle. LOL! It was awesome in a very treacly, stereotypical Harlequin Romancy kind of way. But I don't think I will be following up with NASCAR #2 In the Groove.

This book contains nascar, the fbi, and is very smutty. The plot is not good and it could use more nascar focus but it’s ok.

4 Stars! ~ Cece Blackwell grew up idolizing her Dad and cherished the times he helped her supe up her Camero to impress her peers in high school. In honesty, there was only one person she wanted to impress, and that was Blain Sanders, the popular bad boy who barely seemed to notice her. But she made him take notice when she whooped his butt in more than one race, her Camero against his Nova. But that was high school. Now it’s a decade later and Blain finds himself the sole owner of a NASCAR team when his partner and the team’s driver is killed in a race. Blain needs Cece’s expertise. She’s an FBI field agent specializing in explosives, and her background with cars is an added bonus. From the accident tapes and then later through evidence it’s soon apparent that someone has murdered Blain’s best friend, and that someone is also making promises of more big bangs to come, including threats to Cece. Blain’s whole Team is in jeopardy when the racing officials yank his license and Blain loses his sponsor. Cece has a tough job to do, not only is she fighting the attraction that still exists between her and Blain, but her hardnose superior has it out for her and rejects her talents for investigation and puts her on bodyguard detail with Blain. Which only makes things heat up between them and Cece has to reject Blain completely in order to protect her career. When they finally attempt to capture the murderer, Cece is seriously injured and this proves more of a challenge to their relationship than her job had been.

When I started this book I was a little scared of it’s size. It’s 376 pages, and lately I’ve had trouble concentrating on anything more than 200. My fears were misplaced, as Ms. Britton wove her tale magnificently and Blain and Cece’s story drew me in. Before I knew it I was at page 100 and the pages kept on turning! I was taken in by both these characters. Cece is driven and devoted to her career, and after witnessing the effects on her former partner’s wife when he was killed in action, she’s determined not to let anyone get too close. Blain’s no longer the cocky bad boy, he’s genuinely concerned for his employees when the Team’s future is in jeopardy. Blain’s not afraid to show how deeply he feels, and isn’t embarrassed for Cece to see his tears. I was ready to shoot him though near the end of the book, thankfully he came to his senses before Cece fully recovered, or I’d have always doubted him. Fast paced, emotional, and sizzling in the chemistry department. A very good read!

Fast cars, fierce chemistry, and a heroine who knows how to take the driver’s seat—Dangerous Curves blends motorsport heat with romantic heart. A fun, fast-paced read with just the right amount of sass and speed.

I'm not violent, but if I were one to physically throw a book against a wall, I'd throw this one. Nothing to do with the writing's quality, but with a particular story element. I'm offended. Not personally offended, but it still feels insulting in general. Perhaps you'll feel different.

In the big climax scene (involving a civilian grandmother aiming a rocket launcher, no less) the heroine's spine is damaged. Not fully severed, though, so I could've predicted the ending, but with most books I find it best to just read - and not think.

So Cece's in a wheelchair, feeling sorry for herself and shutting everyone out. This goes on for about three months. Then Blain proposes to her, and Cece agrees conditionally. Then she manages to stand up - swaying, but unassisted. That condition: the wedding will only happen when she can walk down the aisle. About a year later, they're married and pregnant.

So that's a happy ending? Why couldn't Cece have remained paralysed? Do wheelchair people not deserve love and marriage? Maybe the short-term paralysis was only put in the story to create conflict, so it shouldn't be such a big deal, but I am freaking pissed off. What the hell? Are the author and publisher saying that love cures disabilities, or that paraplegics don't deserve love and marriage? This was probably not their intention, but that's how it comes across. Admittedly, this book was published back in...2005, perhaps, but I think my point of view would have been the same then. But I could be in the minority - I'm able-bodied, so I may not have a right to feel offended in this case. Huh.

Dangerous Curves by Pamela Britton
NASCAR #1
A decade ago, Cecilia Blackwell, known as Cece, was a girl with hero worship and ended up embarrassing herself often because of that particular guy. Now as a grown woman, an FBI agent who is good at her job, she has learned she can turn heads and knows how to use that power. Everything changes the day she’s pulled from her undercover job to investigate a murder. A murder that includes working side by side with the past she wants to forget.

Blain Sanders has just lost his best friend and believes it was more than just an accident on the track, he believes Randy was murdered. He’s been told his old high school nemesis has become a well respected FBI. He expects to see the same tomboy he knew, not a beautiful woman, a woman who is determined to put her work before everything else, including him.

This first book in the series has suspense riding along side the fast pace behind the scenes of NASCAR and Blain’s racing team. It seems like everything is going against the Sanders Team and Cece is doing her best to keep him at a distance as well. Ride along with them as they try to find the killer before they strike again. There are seven books in this series.

Pamela Britton's DANGEROUS CURVES, is an amazing story! She not only has characters that are multi-leveled, but 'real'. She knows her NASCAR and makes you want to come back for more. DANGEROUS CURVES is non-stop fabulous!

CeCe Blackwell is a no-nonsence FBI agent who left her small town to pursue a career in law enforcement. But she gets a case that she can't shake working for Blain Sanders, someone she tried to forget way back when. He is a Cup car owner who lost a dear friend to what doesn't look like an accident and he needs CeCe to help him figure it out.

This is a page turner, and you won't be able to put it down!

Not a good start. I was actually bored reading it, which is what prompted me to put it down half way thru then pick it up again .... but then the last half kind of surprised me and was quite enjoyable. I actually enjoyed trying to figure out who was behind the bombings and I didnt see the outcome coming either, but the romance between Blaine and CeeCee needed work, big time. The author just sort of made it materialize out of thin air. One day they were long time acquaintances with sexual attraction and the next, I love yous were flying and marriage proposals were spouting out .... Like I said, not a great read, but it wasnt a total loss.

CeCe Blackwell has grown into a well respected FBI agent, but she still remembers her embarrassing teenaged crush on Blain Sanders. He's a champion Nascar driver now, and one of his team members and best friend has been killed under suspicious circumstances. He requests CeCe be assigned to investigate the case.

Dangerous Curves has mystery, romance, auto racing and is a typical Harlequin romance. The main characters are immediately in lust, but they fight and bicker constantly. I found it annoying and quickly lost interest. I only read it for the auto racing tag and can't think of a single person I can recommend it to.

Special Agent CeCe Blackwell is smart, savvy and knows her way around a race car, so heading up a team to investigate the murder of a NASCAR driver is right up her alley. The only problem is that team owner Blain Sanders remembers CeCe from high school as a tomboy who had a crush on him, and he is having a hard time taking her work seriously.

A light, entertaining romance with enough suspense that you won't want to put it down. Highly recommend--especially for racing fans.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a romance book, however it was filled with many twists and turns as CeCe and Blain followed the clues to determine what happened to his best friend and top race car driver as they also tried to manuever around their feelings for each other. I'm anxious to read the rest of this series.

Very easy read, very light hearted (even though there was a murder in it) and enjoyable. It is hard to take this book seriously with the main characters acting the very unprofessional way they do most of the book. But it was fast and fun so I gave it 4/5 stars. I will definitely read another book by the author because she did write the book well.

This was a really good book with a few surprises. I enjoy suspense coupled with romance and this book has it. I like the twists here and there along with the NASCAR background. The book itself is well written with good characters, some of them are not what you expect.

Confusing

This plot had potential but it was confusing to read. It didn't flow well. It was hard to form any sort of attachment to the main characters, they seemed hollow and not likeable. Don't waste your money.
