Jerry Ahern (born Jerome Morrell Ahern) was a science fiction and action novel author best known for his post apocalyptic survivalist series The Survivalist. The books in this series are heavy with descriptions of the weapons the protagonists use to survive and prosecute a seemingly never-ending war amongst the remnants of the superpowers from pre-apocalypse times.
Ahern was also a firearms writer, who published numerous articles in magazines such as Guns & Ammo, Handguns and Gun World.
Jerry Ahern passed away on July 24, 2012 after a long struggle with cancer.
Ahern also released books under pseudonym Axel Kilgore.
Another winner from Jerry Ahern. This time Dan Track is on his own in an unnamed country south of the border of Mexico. The trouble starts when a Senator's daughter runs of with a gun/drug runner and ends up in the unknown country. She was using an allies so no one would know who she is. Unfortunately for her, El General, whom her boyfriend was trading his ill gotten gains, finds out and kills everyone with the girl. He takes her for a bargaining chip against the USA.
Track heads down on his own. No explanation about why he did not take any of his partners he normally works with. That's not a problem though, because the action is thick and fast. You don't spend much time thinking about it. A lot of twists and turns and the blood flows freely. Too bad there is only three books left in the series.
