Not sure if I classify this as a gothic. It takes place on an island in an ancient castle, but it’s more of a thriller surrounding a sybarite and her devoted followers. More specifically a satanic cult. Every night there is some sort of twisted game played, and the heroine is often drugged or in danger. In one such instance she is drugged while having sex with her ex-fiancée, and the cult followers all watch her have sex with him. The ultimate goal of the satanic cult is to exorcise the goodness from the heroine. I also found it hilarious how apparently archaeologists have a proclivity towards satanism lol. Overall, this book was not what I expected, but its randomness and wtfery is what made it an entertaining read.
