With her life recently torn asunder by the tragic double deaths of her husband and father, Professor Joanna Reed needs a friend, but the seemingly God-sent arrival of Charis Langenberg is no accident. Reprint.
I really had to adjust to the writing style. It was very... stilted to me and I just found it odd. After I got over it, I started to enjoy the book a little bit. Then, it just got weird. Unbelievably weird. The weirdness resolved itself and I started to settle into the book again.
And then the ending. Just... ugh. I really got through that entire book for *that* ending?
My only consolation is that I didn't go into this book with any high expectations. I found it at a library sale and thought, "Why not?" Now I know.
Allot going on in this novel. First time reading this author. I truly enjoyed the storyline, but there were some moments where I felt there was too much detail/description that elongated parts of the book.
Joanna Reed is the main character and so much happens to this happen. I just kept wishing she could figure out the reasons thing were happening to her. We are given both sides, which I believe helps the novel.
There's allot going on, but it is definitely worth it. A really good read.
