Threshold of Time is worth a read, but the plot didn't entirely manage to captivate me and I expected more from the time travel aspect. It had a nice 50's vibe with interesting ideas, good characters and a fitting conclusion at the end.
I never really found my footing with this one, and I’m afraid it had neither the prose nor the characters to make me slow down enough to really absorb it or have any interest in re-reading the more obtuse bits. Moves around too rapidly to get acclimatized, and never takes the time to orient the reader. Lots of interesting moments, lost in confusing digressions and placeless action.
I read this book when I was a kid, it belonged to my father and was on one of the shelves our library.
I few years ago when I moved I was packing my books and saw this one, and remembered that it belonged to my father and I got it when I left my parents house, then I wondered if I would still enjoy it so much as I did the first time since I was not a kid anymore. I read it for the second time then and had a good surprise, I really enjoyed reading it again, it is a well written book, fast pacing, you just can’t stop reading once you started.
Oh before I forget, I read this book in portuguese so I can also add tha the translation was very good.
The first sci fi book I read, when I was around 10 years old. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it got me into reading books in the sci-fi genre, of which I have been a huge fan ever since.
