I was so, SO excited to win a copy of this book in the Goodreads giveaway. I loved the idea for this book. There is something about the forbidden love dynamic that gets me; I’m a total sucker for it. I keep flirting between 3 and 3.5 stars for different reasons, but I’m going with 3.5 because it is a very sweet love story, and for a debut novel it deserves it.
Zan always knew the role for which he was created – to guide, encourage, and protect. He spent every moment of his angelic existence preparing for his earthly assignment. What he didn’t expect were the intense emotions – love, loss, heartache – that came along with it. More specifically, the feelings tied to one of his “callers,” a girl named Providence.
Will Providence’s love drive him to choose the unthinkable?
As I mentioned before, this is a sweet love story. You can’t help but fall in love with Zan and Providence. This story does have an instalove feel to it. I agree with Allegra who mentioned that it has a twilight feeling about it, but that may just because we are dealing with a love story between a normal girl, and a supernatural being. I also felt like the instalove in this was a little too fast for me. Because the story was all told through Zan’s eyes I never really got a good feel for Providences build up of feelings, and because Zan focused a lot on ignoring his feelings for Providence (in the beginning), I didn’t feel like I got a clear build up of his feelings as well. Despite this it was still a very touching story, and it was done very well. I loved the premise and the ideas as well as the journey the characters went on, and their love for each other. It was a nice read, and I really enjoyed the book.
