What I enjoyed about "The Other Side of Divine"....
This was another great read from this author...which was a continuation of 'The Other Side of Dare' novel and with the ending of this novel gives us a good ending. The characters... Gabrielle, Miss Crowe along with many others really gave this series and us the readers a wonderful amazing read.
I loved how this author gives the reader a knowledgeable scripture before each chapter only delivering to her readers a wonderful novel that give us the 'Word of God' ... through 'Strongholds, forgiveness, faithfulness, resisting temptation to love dedication and respect.'
I would like to thank this author for such a wonderful spiritual read.
Let me start by saying that I have not read any other novels of this series and did not realize that there was a preceding one. I found myself a little bit confused when diving into this one. There were a lot of characters introduced at once and it was frustrating trying to keep up with them and attempting to figure out what relation they had to one another. After all that was sorted and understood the book started to become a bit more enjoyable. There was definitely a lot of drama going on in this book and it kinda reminded me of a soap opera if it hadn't been so religious. I am not a very religious person and at times found myself skipping through the sermon chapter or areas of overly used religious praise. I think I would have enjoyed this story a lot more if it didn't mention God or the Lord in every single chapter. However, I do understand that this is the intended category of this book...it just wasn't for me. Generally though, it was a very good story. The characters were quite likable and the plot remained interesting throughout. There weren't any weaknesses in the writing and I was completely happy with the outcomes for everyone. I think this is a great book for anyone that enjoys Christian fiction, but not so much so for anyone that does not like preaching in their books.
I received a free copy of this book through Good Reads First Reads.
This book for me was okay, not bad or really good just ok.I did not know that this was part of a series and wish somewhere on the cover it stated make sure to read such and such first! There was a lot going on in this book and the recap of what happened in the past so difficult to understand that it just made it confusing. I partially blame this on the writing style and me not reading the previous books. The transition from one scene to the next didn't always happen smoothly sometimes it was rushed and other times not mentioned. If you like a lot of drama then I would re comes you read this book. I wanted to how everything played out so I kept reading and it was okay.
A job well done by the Vanessa Davis Griggs. This is an awesome story. Miss Crowe is back and ready to continue to her blessings. Miss Crowe was a blessing to Gabrielle before her accident. Without Miss Crowe in Gabrielle’s life might be totally different. God place people in your life for a reason even if it is just for a season. The word of God for the people of God………Excellent job again Vanessa Davis Griggs…..
One of her bests, loved revisiting the characters & seeing some of them in a different light. As always, plenty of lessons to be learned, with an unpredictable twist or two thrown in. Hopefully this won't be her last!
So, I just finished reading The Other Side of Devine and I am so pleased with the outcomes. Forgiveness is something special and when given you help yourself as much if not more than the person you are forgiving, but most of all LOVE reigns supreme.
Looking at the cover, I am wondering which character is portrayed on the cover, guessing Darius but as reading the storyline seems like it should be Zachary due to a marriage coming up with Gabby; yet the female definitely looks different from previous cover so his is why I suspect Darius.
Aside my cover issue, the book started off mediocre with Gabby and her wedding coming soon until an unsuspected guest comes to her doorstep which makes the book a bit intriguing. Now many of us who has read the "good Word" knows that we are to be forgiving to one another no matter what they have done to us, literally turning the other cheek so to speak, and surprisingly Gabrielle (Gabby) does that when he father comes to the door and needs a place to stay. However other people in the home feel that she shouldn't be so forgiving so sudden. I was also wondering do we really do that so abruptly but it does show that she has forgiven the man who has murdered her mother. Definitely an eye-opener lesson right here.
I enjoyed the preaching sermon that Pastor Landris had given early in the book since I am going through something where it stirred something in me and disagree that it was preachy or too much, especially if you are reading Christian fiction. This blessed me in the midnight hour. (Yep a late night until about 2 AM).
Darius, hmmm, is he the Samson of the new day? Then Ms. Divine, Delilah Vine, my my my and wondering what scheme she is really up to like the real Delilah in the Bible. What is it in for her? The soap opera romance drama with this one...is all I can say. I actually learned some things concerning meth!
Paris, is she truly facing her consequences, or karma, and doesn't know how to handle it. She tried to confess her secrecy with mom but ended up going to her father instead which he already knew. Now look at that...father like daughter. I wonder how long she is going to keep this secret or hopefully all will fall in place for her regardless of her past mistakes. I hope to see. Oddly I can feel some of her inner pain because I have found myself where she is but didn't play it out as far as she did or how the storyline goes.
If you like a wholesome, church friendly book, then this one is for you. (I will see where this book will take me since I am midway before making my final conclusion).
3.5 stars (good ending! Is this the end (of the series)?)

Another outstanding Job l In “The Other Side of Divine “ Vanessa Davis Griggs displays her deep knowledge of the word of God in her foreword to every chapter and manages to inspire the readers with the sermons via Pastor Landris. The” I am” message was so powerful. It was wonderful to see Paris give her life to the Lord and exciting and romantic to read about Gabrielle Mercedes and Dr. Z Morgan tying the knot.
This inspirational book has it all, which centered not with one person but several persons with different problems and solutions. I love reading these type of people who are lead by faith even when it doesn't seem popular with other and/or those who find comfort in learning to walk by faith. This is a book I would recommend to those who read other love stories other than inspirational one and I feel you may be hooked.
Glad I realized this was a series or I would have been confused. There are a lot of characters and sub-plots that tie in together. They all have individual stories that the author manages to tie together.
I chose this rating because Vanessa Davis Griggs always writes amazing g stories. She is an A1 author in my book. Her stories flow consistent from beginning to end. she never ceases to amaze me.
3.5 Stars!!!! She drew this story out a little too much for my taste. Although she answers all the unanswered questions from "The Other Side of Goodness" I don't think it took a sequel to do it. As Always, I love the referenced scriptures and life lessons.
Ms Crowe is awesomeness! Good thing she took over bc Gabrielle is too slow! Lol
This was a good conclusion to the series. I hope to see more of these families sans aunt CC. I'm so glad everything else worked out. Everyone was suspect for me until proven otherwise. Won't spoil it.
Another great read. I have fallen in love with these characters and feel like I know them. Glad to see the happy endings for them. Esther Mae and Jasmines bond was awesome and just love all of them.
