May be the last historic record of animals I read, for most of the information is outdated and I end up reading Wikipedia at the end of every page to get the most accurate information. I appreciated the new text, but being published in the 1960s, is still outdated.
Besides, most of the “scientific” accounts written by Audubon and Bachman were just stories of how swiftly the animal could be killed, various methods of torture to learn about the animals’ behavior, and how good the meat tasted. Glad to be finished with this book.
