266 books1,834 followersI don’t know about you, but when I check out an author's bio, it’s usually because I’ve read a book I liked and wondered about the person behind it. Let's skip the formal bio and I'll give you the inside scoop on who Roxanne St. Claire really is.
First of all, call me Rocki. Everyone does. Evidently, when my mother brought me home from the hospital I seemed too scrawny and small to pull off “Roxanne” (she’d read Cyrano de Bergerac while pregnant or I would have been Judy) so they called me Rocki.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest of five (overachievers, every one), and fell in love with words and stories the summer I read Gone With The Wind. That year, for my twelfth birthday, my parents gave me a typewriter (with italic font – it was the coolest thing) and from that day on, I’ve had my fingers on a keyboard, pounding out love stories for fun. My AP English teacher taught me the two most important lessons an aspiring author ever needs: 1) verbs are the key to life and 2) a writer should get a real job. After attending UCLA and graduating with a degree in communications, I tried acting and television broadcasting. Oh, they aren’t real jobs? I learned that the hard way. I changed my last name from Zink to St. Claire because a news producer told me Roxanne Zink had too many harsh consonants for a TV personality – apparently Katie Couric didn’t get the memo. I got some fun gigs, and even met Tom Hanks when I did a guest appearance on Bosom Buddies. I liked on camera work, but wasn’t too crazy about starvation, so I moved to Boston and got that “real” job. In fact, I placed my foot on the bottom rung of the corporate ladder and didn’t look down until I’d climbed all the way up to the level of Senior Vice President at the world’s largest public relations firm. On the way up, I met the man of my dreams in an elevator. Two years later – in the same elevator! – he asked me to marry him and I wisely said yes.
I stayed in PR, moved to Miami, had a few babies, lost my home in a hurricane, built another one a few hours north and all along, I kept writing my “stories” for fun. One night, I read a particularly fabulous romance novel that changed my life for good. That night, I decided I wanted to make someone else feel as whole and happy as that author made me feel. (Everyone asks! It was Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.) With two small children and one big “real” job, writing my first novel wasn’t easy, but I did finish a manuscript that managed to get the attention of a literary agent. She told me to do one thing and one thing fast: write another book. (The first one is usually a “learner” book, honestly.) That second manuscript sold to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books and was released in 2003 as Tropical Getaway. Since then, I’ve written almost thirty more, in multiple genres, and long ago replaced the corporate ladder with the rollercoaster of publishing as a full-time novelist. Finally, writing is my real job.
Today, I live in a small beach community in Florida with my husband and two dogs. Our kids are off to college and law school, which means my nest is empty! I spend my time writing, working with the kids at my church, enjoying my husband's gourmet cooking, and hanging with my many writer friends. Of course, I love to read. I’m still crazy about words and stories and hope to write at least a hundred books in my lifetime. And, yes, verbs are the key to life. My favorites? Love. Work. Believe.

Bullet Catcher Dan Gallagher was a former FBI agent and one of his undercover assignments involved a young woman named Maggie Varcek who unwittingly provided him with the details to bring down a drug lord and his enterprise. Though they were lovers, he never let her know of his duplicity and disappeared when the drug lord was arrested. Now that these criminals have finished serving their time (14 years later), Dan decides to visit Maggie and ensure her safety.
I really enjoyed this story with its multiple layers of intrigue, duplicity and suspense. Keeping up with the lies and subterfuge was a good challenge and the pace was just perfect. One of the things I was hoping to understand was more about Dan's true feelings for Lucy Sharpe and this story delivered that by giving lots of essential background about him and his past relationship with Maggie, who I adored. Her son, Quinn, made this an even better story with his quirky wit and personality.
This might just be my favorite of the series. It has lots of excitement, mystery and suspense with a really great romance.

Bullet Catcher Dan Gallagher travels to the Florida Keys to check on Maggie Varcek, a former lover who may be in danger. Fourteen years ago, Dan worked undercover to bring down Drug Lord Alonso Jimenez. Alonso's son, Ramon, ended up in prison after Maggie unwittingly gave inside information to Dan. Now that Ramon is out of prison, Dan fears for her safety. When Maggie realizes who Dan is, she is furious about his past betrayal. Dan is stunned when he learns that Maggie had a secret she never got a chance to tell him.
I've been waiting a long time for Dan's story and it did not disappoint. This story had a good balance of romance and suspense. I liked that there were several different people trying to acquire the information that they believe Maggie had kept hidden for years. You never knew who Maggie could trust. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

I wasn't crazy about Dan Gallagher's story...........perhaps I wanted him to pair up with Lucy Sharpe...........maybe not. I liked him in the previous books, but here...he was so boring!!!!
I thought the plot meh!~!! I just could not connect with any of the characters.
I found the heroine, Maggie irritating and totally annoying. And her son.........he annoyed me beyond anything.........
The chemistry between Maggie and Dan felt forced....I just never got it with the two!!! I found myself skimming a lot of the pages....especially the sex scenes....after a while, they became a bit boring.
Despite the disappointment...let's just say...this was an okay read.......I will continue with this series!!

Fourteen years after the devastating night in which she witnessed an FBI assault on a drug lord's warehouse, Maggie Varcek comes face-to-face with the agent who betrayed her trust. Now a Bullet Catcher, Dan Gallagher has returned to ensure Maggie's safety as the Jimenez family is out of prison and looking for revenge. Can the two overcome their past to ensure their future?
A huge improvement on the previous bookt both in terms of the suspense plot and in terms of the romance.
Several reviewers have mentioned their disappointment in the pairing of Dan and Lucy with other characters. Personally, the idea of a relationship between these two never appealed as whatever minimal connection and chemistry existed between the two remained underdeveloped.
Similar to Lucy and Jack, Dan and Maggie's romance is based on second chances and forgiving past grievances. However, unlike the first couple, Dan and Maggie's chemistry is off the charts and their snappy dialogue hits all the right notes.
The suspense plot is gripping with none of the immaturity or unprofessionalism that characterized Jack and Lucy's story. The villains are sufficiently menacing and the action is intense and satisfying.
In sum, this book returns to the series' roots with a hunky hero and admirable heroine, intriguing plot and compelling secondary characters. Looking forward to the 8th and final installment.

One of the best of the series. I loved how we finally got to see Dan as a human and that his past mistakes haunted him. That doesn't mean that Mr. Perfect is anything less arrogant, it just means he shows a side that we hadn't seen in the previous books.
As a young FBI undercover agent, Dan Gallagher and a partner are in deep with a shipping company that also is running drugs. The Jimenez family has been quite successful and now the FBI is ready for the takedown. In order to obtain inside information, Dan became the lover of Maggie Varcek, whose boyfriend, Ramon Jimenez, is the son of the head of the family. When the takedown happens and the bullets fly Maggie sees Dan go in the warehouse and come out on a stretcher completely covered. She believes Dan is dead and runs for her life. And the life of her unborn child.
Fourteen years later Ramon Jimenez is released from prison and Dan is concerned that he may go after Maggie looking for revenge. Dan tracks her to Marathon, FL in the Keys where she has lived since he abandoned her. She tends the bar she inherited from her late husband, raises her son the best way she can and has no clue who Dan is when he drops back into her life. Some hot guy is hitting on her and she definitely feels the heat.
When another interested party shows up and Ramon is on the scene too, Dan has to tell Maggie who he is and that she may hold the key to the Jimenez family's fortune. To say Maggie is pissed is a vast understatement. But they must work together to recover the fortune and also save their son.

Dan Gallagher got his life settled and I was thankful for it. I believe Dan's character has been in all or most of the previous Bullet Catcher books, so it was definitely time. Since he was so adamant about never settling down or having kids, his character had to either eat a lot of words or go back to the past. He did the latter. Hunt Her Down was a book about rekindled young love. Fate. Superstitions.
Dan and Magdalena (Maggie) had an affair fourteen years ago while Dan (AKA Michael Scott) was undercover for the FBI and Maggie was the girlfriend of a drug lord's son, Ramone. Maggie was a naive 18 year-old who was biding her time with Ramone until she got a "sign" from her deceased grandmother to do otherwise. She was very superstitious. Dan, grew to care for her, but was dedicated to his job. His role was to "die" in the drug bust and all these years Maggie thought he did just that. Sadly, she had a HUGE secret and didn't get the opportunity to tell Dan/Michael she was pregnant.
Fourteen years later Ramone is out of prison. Dan, worried that Ramone might find Maggie, tracked her down. Maggie was now a widow and owner of a bar in Florida. When he sees her the old flame is still burning and she's grown up. She doesn't recognize him, but is attracted to the good-looking man that comes into her bar several days in a row and stares at her.
As the plot moves along, Ramone--and several others--are after Maggie. They believe she has information to a fortune that has been lost for 14 years. Several bad guys appear. A few new characters turn up that could lead to more Bullet Catcher books!
The last 1/4 of the book I felt the plot needed to be tightened up. Too much rehashing, assuming, hoping and guessing. The momentum was broken for me and the multitude of bad guys coming out of the woodwork coupled with too many wild goose chases had me wrinkling my nose. Just when I thought the tale was winding down it would go in another direction and start back up again. And what's with making Lucy (leader of Bullet Catchers) out to be a perfect woman? Those constant remarks of her "greatness" seem over-the-top and hit my Silly Meter.
Still enjoyed it. 3 1/2 Stars from This Reader.

Dan Gallagher, the number two in command of the Bullet Catchers, a company comprised of elite, best of the best bodyguards, is one of the most intriguing and likable characters of the series, and we finally get his story in Hunt Her Down. The ex-FBI man is a notorious playboy, happily using women as a means to an end on assignments when necessary, an outrageous flirt, easygoing, and never seems to take anything too seriously, yet there’s always been something deeper hidden behind his casual, carefree demeanor, and at long last we learn why.
Fourteen years ago, in the middle of an undercover FBI drug and money laundering bust, Dan had to watch his lover and unwitting informant Maggie Varcek walk away. He’s always been haunted by the past and his feelings for Maggie, but never able to do anything about it. Now, the drug lord Dan and Maggie put away is out of prison and hell-bent on revenge, so Dan tracks her down to Florida and offers his protection. But Maggie’s never forgotten or forgiven his betrayal and won’t take Dan’s help that easily, no matter how hot she thinks he is or that their chemistry and attraction is still just as explosive after so many years. And Maggie’s harboring a dangerous secret that she’ll do anything to protect.
It’s a thrilling addition to the Bullet Catcher saga with lots of action and steamy romance. This story also introduces sexy, mysterious thief and mercenary, Constantine Xenakis, who will be the lead character in the next book in the series, Make Her Pay, which comes out later this month, and I’m really looking forward to more of him! 4 ½ stars!

This was more 3.5 stars because I just didn't take to Maggie or Dan. Both weren't attractive characters, unlike previous Bullet Catchers and their women.
The story moved along quickly but I found it too convoluted for what was, to me, an interesting-enough plot. I felt like I was being pulled in too many directions chasing after the fortune/fortunes.
I'm giving 4 stars because on the whole, the Bullet Catchers setup is fun to follow as there hasn't been many of these sexy, hot guy-teams since Brockmann's Troubleshooters. The story moved along quickly but I found it too convoluted for what was, to me, an interesting-enough plot. I felt like I was being pulled in too many directions chasing after the fortune/fortunes.
I'm giving 4 stars because on the whole, the Bullet Catchers setup is fun to follow as there hasn't been many of these sexy, hot guy-teams since Brockmann's Troubleshooters. I really loved this book. I loved the connection bewteen the two main characters. The scene in the shed was HOT! I loved the sexual buildup throughout the book. Overall just a good romance suspense read. The only problem I had was that I wanted to see more of how Quin handled the situation with Dan. It got brushed over too quick. Even after the danger died down, there was no real discussion.

Dan Gallagher's story.
So Lucy has fallen in love with Jack and Dan is leaving the Bullet Catchers - everyone thinks it is to (metaphorically) lick his wounds but he tells them its personal.
Indeed it is. Fourteen years ago he was an FBI agent undercover to bring down a Venezuelan drugs family, whilst undercover he had a torrid affair with a young (18 years old) girlfriend of the Don's son. As part of his cover his death during the FBI raid was faked and she has believed that he died for the past 14 years. But now the Don and his son have been released from prison and Dan has to make sure that the woman is safe and/or warn her that they are free.
When he visits the woman, Maggie, at her bar in Florida he finds the old attraction is still there - but Maggie has a very big secret. It seems like everyone wants something from Maggie - something she knows nothing about - and only Dan and the Bullet Catchers can keep her safe.
Again this was pleasant enough, Ms St Claire does love her two competing villains tropes (is it a trope if its personal to her?) and this one is no exception. I can never work out with these romantic thrillers whether the bad guy's identity is meant to be obvious (because its a romance first and foremost) or whether I just find them too well signposted.
Having said that, the romance was kind of lacking in this too. Maggie's never stopped loving Dan deep down (although she also hates him for being an FBI narc and [she thinks] using her to get information). Dan thinks it's just lust and fully intends to walk away. And then suddenly, he changes. No gradual realisation, actually no sudden realisation, just suddenly he loves her.
So, I realise that I always focus on the negatives. The story was well-constructed, some inconsequential throwaway details are brought back into play later in the book vey cleverly. I'm happy to keep on reading but I didn't really warm to Dan.

If you love red hot romantic suspense, you'll enjoy this next installment of the Bullet Catchers. When they clear the air, they clear the air and helped protect each other, while fighting for their undying love. What a great novel!

I didn't care for this book. I didn't connect with the characters at all. Maggie, the heroine, annoyed me at times. She just didn't feel real. And Dan was just sub par. A few of the Top Gun references had me smiling, but otherwise nothing special happened.
This book had an average plot, with average characters. The plot, I thought, seemed to be written hastily. There were a lot of loose ends throughout the book, making it difficult to keep up with. I also thought there were to many bad guys popping in and out. After a while I just started skimming. I skimmed the love scenes too. Just not enough character connection.
I'm taking a break from this series....

Not my thing, I like action and adventure with a bit of thrill and romance, but this book was so busy with sex that it was hard to keep reading without wondering where they found the time to get it on all the time. I guess I would be too busy to stop and have sex every time someone tried to kill me.
It is a series, but I think I will skip the rest unless I really feel the need to run for my life and I really do have time to have sex along the way.

A good romantic suspense with plenty of exciting action. It had an interesting setup of the relationship and did a good job of working through it. There were a couple of far-fetched events near the end but overall an enjoyable story. Ex-FBI agent Dan seeks out old lover Maggie when he learns her old drug dealer boyfriend just got out of jail.

I adore Roxanne St. Claire! Her books have the right amount of suspense and romance in them for me. She is truly one of the best! I read everything she writes and I've yet to feel disappointed in anything. Keep up the excellent work, Ms. St. Claire!

Good, but gahhh!!
This was my favorite bullet cached but I swear to god Roxanne StClaire thinks of the shittiest thing a man can do to a woman, and then makes a book out of it. This is another bullet catcher where I doubt, had it been me in the lead female characters roll, I would have EVER forgiven the main male character/hero for what they've put the heroine through. I swear to god, I've despised EVER bullet catcher for what they've done to the heroine, and I almost ended up despising the heroine for forgiving him. BUUUUT, the story was awesome and I have to appreciate the characters for who they are, not dislike them because they're unlike me (or any woman I've ever met, cuz let me tell ya, no woman I've ever met or known could forgive what this dude put her through). I digress. Lol

It's been a while since I have read a Bullet Catcher book. It seems unethical, but the men keep falling in love with their clients. But in this case, Maggie Varcek had fallen in love with Dan Gallagher when she was a runaway teen working as a nanny for the daughter of a drug lord, and supposedly the girl friend of his son, Ramon. However, Dan was actually undercover FBI, and when the bust was going down, he told Maggie to flee. Dan never forgot her, and eventually left the FBI to become a Bullet Catcher. But when he learns that Ramon has been released from prison and might be seeking revenge on Maggie, he takes a sabbatical to track her down. Not only does he discover that she is in danger, but that he has a fourteen year old son. Lots of twists, turns and betrayals in this exciting story.

This is the first time I'm reading Ms. Roxanne's book and I was stunned, I'm more into suspense and this excites me for real but tbh at first I thought this would turn out awful because there's romance in it but damn I was a amazed it was good, the suspense is 100% don't argue with me, its so good that I ended up throwing the book because it ends lmao. Anyway Ms. Roxanne thank you for this wonderful book we really enjoyed it no cap.

Considering this was written in 2009, it didn't feel dated at all and I enjoyed every second of this romantic suspense.
Maggie is drawn back into the underworld when the person she used to date is released from prison and soon Bullet Catcher Dan is back in her life to help.
Two of my least favourite tropes being second chance romance and secret baby were in this book, but I actually didn't mind. The book was super fast paced, I loved both characters, and the action was superb.

I picked up this book and didn't want to put it down. "Hunt Her Down (Bullet Catcher , #7)" by Roxanne St. Claire is suspenseful, and a great read. As soon as you pick up the book you get the premise of the story through the Prologue. You'll know what happened to Magdalena Varcek, Maggie, and what causes the events to occur throughout the book.

This book was good overall! The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star was because it wasn’t a book a couldn’t put down! Good story line, good characters; some which you hope to read about in future books! A good read.

So glad Dan finally got his act together. So sad it had to be at Maggie’s expense. But finally Dan and Lucy can work together! Loved this story of love lost . . . or was it found, times two? Dan’s redemption is simply sweeter!
