such a wild ride, and so well written. taught me a lot more about f1 and also fit the jjk lore so well. made me so emotional and happy, it was genuinely so bittersweet to finish.
shout out to the final paragraph that made all of the satosugu struggles worth it. they’re soulmates in every universe and i love them w all my heart. “He looks down at Suguru at the barriers, flushed from crying and screaming himself hoarse. He thinks about being able to kiss him later, thinks about going home and giving himself over to him. Thinks about how he doesn’t mind it, that he doesn’t need a seventh to be home and held tight and to hear a heartbeat. For it to be real. He’s never needed it, and he’s only realising now.”
Not sure how to rate this. I guess maybe 3.5 rounded up. I went into this knowing it was a F1 romance but Jesus Christ there was sooooo much fucking driving and like sure it’s cool but god at some point I’m like when will the fucking plot move forward???? Like a slow burn is only a slow burn if it pays off in the end and I really don’t think that the relationships and the romance in this story felt grand enough or deep enough by the end, given that we were forced to wait so long for them. I could really feel the limitations of the author. That being said the racing and world building WAS cool. There was just way too much of it. I feel conflicted… I will never forget this book, but fuck. And the ending??? I feel like I was promised way more than I got.
