Each millennium, the passing occurs, a quick and painless crossing of three realms. The one firmly fixed on Earth, the utopian Lux, and the dystopian Umbrae.
The passing has always been a smooth transition. A means to collect souls, light and dark. The year 2000 was when it all changed. The worlds collided.
Present Year: 2065; very little human life is left. The Earth is overrun with darkness and all existing light is being snuffed out.
There are those among us who serve as protectors, but protecting an entire species might be more than anticipated.
JOSEPH EASTWOOD was born on the 9th of June 1993, in Lancaster, England, although he’s fairly certain that he’s only a visitor on Earth. Wait unless you’re the with government, in which case, Joseph is a human being with human interests, such as reading, and not dissecting human beings in order to use them in his—ahem—fiction.
He has many writing interests, including young adult, poetry, fantasy, thriller, and even romance, so make sure that you look at the recommended age guidelines before you pick up your next JOSEPH EASTWOOD book.
The Calling is a great first part to what I can only see being a great series. It found me loving some of the characters that I thought I would hate, and hating the character I should've been rooting for. This is a giant twist on fae and faerie and it's very fast paced. Come on, Mr. Eastwood, we're waiting for part two!!
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves, Fae, fantasy and fast paced action with a side emotion ;)
The Calling, the first in a dark fantasy series, give a new take on the paranormal creatures we've come to know and love. Eastwood weaves a story full of intrigue, suspense and great strong characters (of which we only get to see a glimpse because of length of the book). There's a lot of imagination and originality in what happens in the story and reading this you can sense there are lot more things happening then what we're reading and I can't wait to find out what that is in the next books. The pacing is great, never leaving you enough time to grow tired. Reading this was to put down as I wanted to find out what would happen next and see what the talented author would come up with next. It's a great first read in what is bound to be one of my favourite series.
