Good Cop, Bad Cop

Rate this book
Fame and fortune is a blessing that, for me, has changed its taste from sumptuously sweet to murderously bitter. Leaving me no choice but to look over my shoulder at every turn and question the scruples of even my most faithful friends.

I would give up all the glowing adoration from my fans in a heartbeat in exchange for not running for my life. But fate doesn’t deal cards that way, and instead I find myself far out at sea and being bounced between two hot cops—one so chilly just his glance gives me frostbite, and the other showing a kindness that barely covers his own demons.

So with nowhere else to turn, quite literally, I have to trust two men I hardly know with my life and cope without the luxuries my status usually affords me. But it’s not long before I discover when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Turns out these cops are not only the wrong guys to mess with, they also have partnership skills above and beyond the requirements of their day job. And for once, while just being me without the frills, I get to discover that they are as sinfully bad as they are dreamily good in every department, and it seems, I am the one they want cuffed and controlled at the same time as they are protecting and serving.

India Moore, a famous and beautiful country and western superstar is being stalked. She escapes from stalker thru a small bathroom window, in the restaurant she’s having dinner with her entourage. Chased by the stalker, she hides in a boat, belonging to two off-duty cops on vacation.
Jose, who is trying to deal with some past tragedy, is the good cop and Dillon, with baggage too, the bad cop and before the end of the day, India has the hots for both. Jose is gentle, Dillon is hard and sweaty and before we know, the three fall INSTANTLY in love and lust of course….!
Oh yes, the stalker finds them and everything works out in the end and the three live happily ever after.

I know this is fiction and make believe, but even so, I need to FEEL that it can happen and somehow the characters FEEL real to me. This was so not happening for me here.
India, Jose & Dillon irritated me most of the times…..ooh no this can’t be happening….yes, I feel so much for you both…blah blah blah!!!!!!!

There were other things that had me skimming over the pages…..the Baldy part, when the stalker “lands”…night goggles!!!!!!!!!!! And the sex scenes…well I suppose one can call it erotica…but whew...the whole Dillon thing and his butt……….

I almost gave up but I managed to finish the book and it’s not exactly a terrible book…I am sure that others will enjoy it…but for me…..Didn't do it!!!

This was a Goodread recommendation for me. This was a pretty good story. India Moore is a Country & Western Singer who has achieved fame, fortune, and a stalker. After a night out with friends, she finds herself running for her life and ends up hiding on a boat. After being discovered the next day and treated like the stowaway she is with no special treatment, she realizes she is in the safest place she could be is with Jose and Dillon. I didn't like Dillon at first because he came off as too rude and insensitive and he was jerk when he first discovered India hiding out on their boat. I really liked Jose who was kind, understanding and treated India good as a woman. He was trying to recover from a painful past and it just made me love him more. I also liked India she was a tough and has been through a lot with fame came a stalker. The sex scenes between these three were hot as hell and I enjoyed every minute of it. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. If you like reading menage with hot cop and a stalker then I recommend that you read this book.

This was another freebie from Lily Harlem, though we get the added benefit of Natalie Dae as a co-author. I haven't read her work. I might need to go find some. :-) This was good... a good amount of suspense and a great story of finding love, healing damaged souls, etc.

India Moore is a super popular country singer. She's touring America right now, but she's uneasy because she has a stalker. The stalker has promised to kill her. She's trying to play it cool, though knowing she's in danger. She's at a restaurant in Florida with her entourage, and she needs to go to the bathroom. She goes with her bodyguard, but her bodyguard is a male, so he doesn't go into the bathroom with her. Unfortunately, that's when her stalker wants to make his move. She escapes out the bathroom window, attempts to get back into the restaurant, but she's unnerved by the danger and can't get her wits about her. She ultimately finds a boat moored at the restaurant, the door is open, and she sneaks in and hides as best she can.

She wakes the next morning to one very pissed off man. Who happens to be a cop, but who has no idea who she is. His partner, Jose, clues him in, but that doesn't make Dillon happy. They're supposed to be on vacation, dammit! Once India has told them how she ended up on their boat, their protective instincts kick in. And their libidos. Big time.

I liked that India felt comfortable with them both enough to finally enjoy life for a bit. And I was glad with how she was able to heal the demons haunting Jose. I thought it was sweet that Dillon could care less who India is to everyone else... it only mattered who she was to him. And Jose.

My one complaint:

Generally, a sweet, sexy, enjoyable story.

Book provided by author for an honest review

I really enjoyed reading Good Cop, Bad Cop by authors Lily Harlem and Natalie Dae aka Harlem Dae. I'm a huge fan of stories involving men in uniform so the title intrigued me and I couldn't wait to see how this story would play out with Dillon, India and Jose. I admit that I did not like Dillon at first because he came off as too brash, rude, insensitive and a total jerk when he first discovered India hiding out on their boat. I didn't understand why he acted the way he did with her. On the other hand, I really liked Jose who was kind, understanding and treated India more respectfully as a woman. He was trying to recover from a painful event in his past and you couldn't help but feel his pain.

I did come to like Dillon as the story progressed and he acted like a human being rather than a unfeeling guy. I enjoyed how protective he became of India and his uncontrollable desire for India. The sex scene between him and India was really hot as Dillon divulged his inner need as well as the one between Jose and India, which was sexy and tender. OMG! I loved the threesome scene! It was filled with raw emotions and such passion that it scorched the pages! If it was any hotter, my body would be up in flames *fans self* Readers will definitely need to cool off after this scene.

I also liked India who was a strong heroine and she needed to be in order to handle Dillon. She was a tough gal and was not fazed by anything that came down or thrown in her direction like a bad guy that's stalking her or being treated poorly by Dillon. I loved the suspenseful elements and action sequences in this book which had me glued until I finished. Only a few authors can write in first person and have me enjoy the book and these two sure did.

Two and half stars. I found all three main characters to be initially unlikable, and had a hard time convincing myself to not set it down after the first few chapters. The book has an unusual structure of alternating first person in the voice of India, the entitled female star, and third person viewpoint of the two cops, both of whom came across as nasty and unreasonable. At the initial discovery of India, the "bad" cop, Dillon, handcuffs her, which just seemed weird. It got a whole lot weirder when he refused to take the cuffs off even after he learns of her plight and vows to help her. Jose, the supposedly "good" cop doesn't want to take them off either which results in odd sex scenes in which India remains in cuffs.

The sex was somewhat imaginative, but even though the two guys are not supposed to be interested in each other, there was a lot of stuff that seemed to imply that they were but weren't about to admit it. The ending was abrupt and made it seem like there was more to follow. With not one, but two authors, you would think they could the sex stuff right. Water is not lubricant - it is the opposite of a lubricant, ouch.

I actually enjoyed the plot of this story even if I wasn't totally surprised by the villain. His motives, however, were a surprise. I think that the characters all had great chemistry together. I'm a big country music fan, so I loved that the heroine was a country & western singer, but I do have to admit that she spoke like no other country singer I've heard. It was just a bit too proper, and not a single "Southern" word was said. That aside, the story had a good feel to it and I enjoyed reading it.

It was fair enough for a quick read. The whole story just didn't strike me as very believable. Mainly the second half and a lot of it stems from the dialogue. Especially considering the men are supposedly Miami DEA. In the beginning they speak like Americans. The second half of the book *BAM* British. Reading the whole second half of the book was like who the hell are these guys?

Gift from author (LH) for an honest review

India Moore, America's C& sweetheart, is being stalked by a serious nutter. Whilst running from her would be killer India ends up a stowaway on a private boat, which turns out to be owned by Jose & Dillon, two DEA cops just wanting a holiday.

A great suspense story, with three lost souls finding each other, mentally & physically.

Take a shot every time you read the words “pubic hair”.

Jk. Don’t do that. You’ll die.

I’m sure this is someone’s cup of tea. It’s not mine. The lack of substantial plot really killed it for me. The two guys not getting jealous seems more realistic than the whole trained professional stalker storyline. Like what even was that?

My biggest complaint is the switch between 1st and 3rd person. Pick one, thank you.

So many unanswered questions. Why was the reporter able to get back so quick but they were gunna spend forever getting home? They all fell in love in under 12 hours? Why did everyone just decide she was dead with no proof and only being gone overnight? Whose island house has a fucking airstrip but dated decor?! WHY DOES HOMEGIRL WHO WAS GETTING STALKED HAVE TO CALM DOWN THE ANGRY GUY?! She deserves to be talked off a ledge more.

Anyways I didn’t like any of the characters, India was especially annoying but the guys were close behind. No emotional investment. Okay I’m done now.

India Moore is a singer who has a stalker after her. One night when her entourage is having dinner, she's cornered in a bathroom. She escapes out the window and ends up on a boat, which ends up going out to sea. Dillon and Jose are cops who are on a much-needed vacation and they aren't happy to find they have a stowaway on board. This was a short and sexy story with some suspense - it ended up being much better than I anticipated.

A steamy, ménage romantic suspense that was easy to read with great characters.

India Moore is a famous country singer, she has been receiving death threats that have been getting increasingly worse. When she has to run from her stalker, she ends up hiding in a boat and is later discovered by two hot cops who are determined to protect her.

I enjoyed this book, it has plenty of steamy moments but overall has a good storyline.

Just your usual cheesy porn-type plot. It could have been a lot better. The heroes' overuse of the word "awesome" was really annoying and so not sexy, and the heroine didn't say much other than "ok" as a response to EVERYTHING.

Orignally Posted on By The Broomstick

An erotic quick read. This book has some seriously erotic scenes & then some random 'action' scenes. India Moore is a country & western singer who has been receiving a few pieces of hate mail, recently they have increased in number & their threats have gotten worse. As time passes she become increasingly agitated & paranoid, so much so that when she is at dinner with friends she thinks she is being followed and jumps out the bathroom window. While running from a stalker India climbs on to a random boat & luckily for her it belonged to two cops Jose & Dillon. Jose is starstruck when his favorite country & western musician India is found on his boat, he is willing to do whatever necessary to keep her safe. His friend Dillion however isn't fond of celebrities because the ones he had to work with were too high maintenance for his taste; which made him a bit harsh with India when he discovered who she was. Jose & Dillion decide to help her even though Dillion isn't on board at first.

Dillion at the start was a little bit of a jerk because she was a case when he needed some serious down time. Then when he's faced with giving her up he decides that he rather take care of her himself.

It was good, the erotica took over the story (you will hear no complaints from me that's what I'm here for). The stalker angle was good it helped move the story ahead; giving the heroes a chance to be 'heroes' I particularly loved the Dominant in the situation & then I'm left wondering if there is going to be another story, based on how it ended. That shower scene?? Yeah all kinds of hotness.

Cons:
Although the stalker angle allowed them to meet, when it kept cropping up during the story it broke the continuity. I get it, you want to indulge in each other but with your life on the line & you have no idea who the criminal is, why not call for help?? Why not return to land where you can get some back up & take on the case more seriously? Then there is trusting this random stranger to tell them where to go?? How do you know it wasn't a set-up with more than one assailant??

The random guy who tracked them down?? India not listening & putting them all in danger?? It just didn't go with the story. I think it should have just stayed an erotica, with the action kinda taking place in the background or off stage. Putting it in didn't really spice up the story; especially because the end seemed rushed to just hurry up and get him out of the way. While I really liked the erotica/love affair, I could have done without the 'action'.

It's a good romp & a quick read. Enjoy!!

India Moore is a Country & Western Singer who has achieved fame, fortune, and a stalker. After a night out with friends, she finds herself running for her life and ends up hiding on a boat. After being discovered the next day and treated like the stowaway she is with no special treatment, she realizes she is in the safest place she could be … with a Good Cop and a Bad Cop, Jose and Dillon, whose reputations precede them in their real life roles. The trio enjoys the R&R on the ocean blue in some new and exciting ways.

This book gives new meaning to “quick and dirty” and was an enjoyable, quick, and steamy read. I enjoyed the plot of the book and was surprised by the villain. I had someone else pegged in the beginning. It should be noted there were two authors, but I couldn’t tell which one was writing what part personally, so that was great for continuity. One issue I had was that India is a Country & Western singer, but she seems more diva from Cali who has never broken a nail instead of country girl with a great voice and a story to tell. Considering anyone can make it in the music industry in real life, that is fine, but when you type-cast someone it should be closer to reality. As a smut lover who loves it when sex comes together easily, the quickness of the sex and the combinations they enjoy doesn’t detract from the story or truly seem far-fetched to me. It felt like they could have come together on dry land if that was how the story was told – the sex was believable for me and would make you wish you had stowed away as well. With this trio, there were endless possibilities.

I look forward to reading other works by both of these authors. I was given a preview copy in exchange for an honest review. Definitely a great beach, girl’s trip getaway, or run from the kids for an hour or two read.

One woman in trouble and two sexy as hell cops who happen to be the rescue she needs. Yum!

When it comes to the 'Bad Cop' that is definitely Dillon. He is downright mean sometimes, and he's an ornery smartass with anger issues, not the best combination. But oh my goodness he does seem to love those handcuffs.

A simple rule between partners. "He who cuffs, uncuffs."

Jose, on the other hand, is most definitely the 'Good Cop'. After a bust gone completely wrong he hasn't been the same. He gets lost in his own head sometimes. But when he finds out the stowaway is a county singer who he is a huge fan of he begins to peek out of his shell. With her he is no longer the stand back guy who lets Dillon take the lead. She helps him to bring back his sexy dominating control.

India has an amazing singing career, a cozy lifestyle, and a crazy stalker bent on ending her life. After running terrified from a bathroom window she finds herself on a boat falling asleep from terror and exhaustion. When she wakes she's in the middle of the ocean with no land in sight and with two sexy men. One who absolutely does not want her there and uses his intimidation to prove that fact and one who she knows is an obvious fan, but as their day continues they all become a little closer than any of them could have imagined.

Three things come immediately to mind after finishing this: Wow! Ow! and What the hell was up with the teaser ender! I would have liked to actually read what happened instead of assuming it.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: I loved her reaction when she realized what was actually going to happen the first time all three of them were together. "Fuck, no, that's impossible."

My Favorite Moment: When Dillon unleashed on India's stalker and then what she had to do to calm him down afterwards.

India Moore is a famous country superstar being stalked and tormented. Numerous death threats on her life through hatemail have made her paranoid and wary of everyone around her. So much so that when she feels cornered in the bathroom of a dinner event with her entourage, she halls ass it through a window to escape. While running from her would-be stalker, she boards a random boat and waits it out. Only to discover, the next morning, that she has become a stow away on sailboat belonging to two cops, Jose and Dillon, who are on a much needed vacation. While Jose is starstruck and ready to help, Dillion doesn't know or give a damn about who she is. He just knows she's on his boat without permission and interrupting his vacation. Eventually it becomes clear that they are only ones who can help her.

This started off decent and pretty strong but as soon as she meets Jose and Dillion, it fell off for me. I didn't connect with any of the characters. India was meh and annoying. She was stupid and endangered them more than once. Jose was suppose to be broken and mentally messed up, but it came off more like distraction then emotional instability. Dillion was an asshole. I don't know if he was just suppose to be the big bad, tough guy but it didn't come off that way. He was unnecessary assholish. Their connection didn't seem believable. And no way did they care so deeply all in the matter of hours.

They didn't take the threat serious enough. They put their trust in some random stranger. They only tried once really to alleviate the threat. The romance seemed to be in the way. More like it was plopped in but it didn't fit at all. Trying too hard to be erotica but didnt work.

An ok read.

India Moore is a Country star who's attracted a stalker. She's cornered in a restaurant bathroom one night with the only way out being a little window. She climbs out the window & runs away, but hears someone calling after her so she stows away on a boat.

When she wakes, she finds that boat is in motion & she's stowed away with a cop who doesn't care who she is or what she does. She's on his boat without his permission, interfering with his vacation, so Dillon cuffs her.

His partner Jose is a fan though & doesn't want India treated badly. He's attracted to her & wants more.

Dillon & Jose finally take the time to find out why she's hiding on their boat & decide to help her. The rest of the book is mostly some sex scenes (with one really hot menage scene) and the resolution to the stalker.

I thought the ending was a let down. It didn't give any details about what happened after the stalker was apprehended and the threesome was able to be together. Just India back out on tour & the guys come to see her after one of her shows.

We got off to a bad start with this one. The number of times the MC was called a country and western singer was enough to make me drop this one. Then you have a spoiled singer who is so dedicated to her music but refuses to take responsibility for her own safety. Characters that are constantly talked about but we barely even meet, so what's the point of them.

Then we meet the cops. Rather than good/bad, they felt more like mean/aggressive and nice/conflicted. Their past was obvious but weirdly handled, not to mention their vibe towards each other. I feel like this was a missed opportunity for a really interesting MMF story.

It wasn't over fast enough and yet I still can't tell you much about the 3 MC's because there wasn't much to them.

OH and the multiple POV's was very confusing. You need to specify who's pov it is when you change it every chapter, I found myself lost until I figured it out.

I want to give this book 4.5 stars because I thought it was really good. The action, suspense and mystery in the plot balanced nicely with the romance and sexual tension between the three main characters. All the characters were well developed with good backstories.

Dillon is sexy as hell. Jose is tragic and beautiful. And India? One lucky girl! Not only did she escape the clutches of a maniacal stalker, but in her haste, she also managed to jump onto a boat moored at a pier which was soon to be captained by two very hot cops!

These cops offered her much needed protection and served her in other ways that she didn't know she needed, or even wanted...with two protective and tough alpha males in charge, they made sure that she was well taken care of in every way that matters.

Fun, sexy and sinful read!

Hmm... yes, the sex was hot, and the story enjoyable, but the insta-love killed it. I understand tough situations can bring people closer together, but... no way would Jose spill his guts that quickly after supposedly not having talked about it for years, for example.

Surprisingly I wasn't as bothered as usual by the first-person narration, maybe because we also got the guys' pov.

The set-up was wildly unbelievable, but I guess that's the only way the author could get them to get together.

The guys were cute, I especially liked how Jose was her fan, that was really sweet, and Dillon's tough-yet-sweet grumpiness was also adorable. Also I really appreciated India's lack of body issues, thank goodness for that. Been reading too many of those.

I like Lily Harlem's books. This was awkward.

However, this was one big f-bomb, which also seems to be the most profanity they knew. For adults, they didn't seem to have the vocabulary and maturity that usually comes with experience. Their gutter mouths during sex made it seem cheap and wasn't a turn on. The violence made me roll my eyes. The heroine is constantly mentioning how different she is from her image it was annoying. The heroes deny having sexual feelings for each other but don't mind intimate touching during menage. Also, water isn't a natural lube!

I agree with many other reviewers that the characters were unlikable and over the top.

Sometimes book ideas should stay book ideas...

I'll call this a practice in endurance.

The writing was so stilted, awkward, and nauseatingly corny. It either read as phonily emotional or entirely mechanical and neither was pleasant. Not to mention the perspectives just changed randomly between paragraphs.

India, Jose, and Dillon were really, truly, just awful. I mean absolutely terrible. All of them were just awful. Weakly contrived, flimsy personalities, and entirely intolerable. India was stupid and self-obsessed, Jose was slimy and insufferable, and Dillon was just a total ass.

Don't even ask about the plot. The opening chapter tells you exactly who it is.

Avoid this.

Good Cop, Bad Cop by Lily Harlem and Natalie Dae
These two are a powerful duo!
They compliment each others writing skills. This story has it all, a little danger, sailing the high seas and some seriously hot sex with two gorgeous men. How can you trust two men you just meet? Well India has no choice in the matter. She is on the boat ride of her life. This story will make you have to take a cold shower after reading it to cool you down. If you haven’t read any stories that these two women have written then you need to ASAP.

2.5 stars

This book was a quick read for me but ultimately I didn't love it. I felt that certain parts were rushed and although I liked the heroes, I couldn't connect with the heroine. I think this is more of a 'me' issue, though, as I know some people would feel the opposite of me. Also there were a couple parts where my eyes nearly bugged outta my head, but it wasn't bad. It was just, "wow" for me, ya know? Having said this, a 2.5 star isn't a bad review. It means the book was okay but I had issues (mostly subjective) and I'll still very likely check out other work by this author in the future. So, there's that.
