Kay had discovered secrets, lies, shocking truths, and even love in a strange new world hidden from humans. Everything she thought she knew was turned upside down when she found out three things:
- She wasn’t human. - She has a power she can't control. - And there was a possibility that she had found a way to cure the cancer that was rapidly killing her with that very same power.
Then, just when she was on the precipice of gaining everything she wanted and saving her own life, tragedy struck. Will she be able to fight her way back to Ryan and save herself in the process?
Kira had lived a terrifying and confusing life of servitude and abuse under Lord Donovan and his son, Cole. It was an existence that had stripped away her emotions, and eventually, her reason to keep fighting. Just when she thought freedom was within reach, Lord Donovan struck again, ruining her plans and almost killing her in the process. When she awoke from her injuries, it was to stunning revelations that would change her life forever. Changes that she was not entirely sure she wanted to embrace.
Persistent individuals such as Prince Kane refuse to let her walk away, though. Will she embrace all of the sudden fortune in her life? Or will she walk away from those who need her most, forsaking their acceptance and love?

Favorite Lines “And you couldn’t have two girls any more different than those two. Kay was soft, kind and almost innocent-like, but she had a fire burning so bright in her she could blind you with just her smile. Kira, on the other hand, was a hardened warrior who would strike a man dead before he had the chance to wink at her. She possessed an icy stare that could leave you breathless.”
“You really have no idea of the power you hold over me, or how much I care for and desire you, do you?”
“Kay… you were the fire.”
“Do you feel it? Or am I lost in this alone?”
“You can't stop death, Kay, and you can't change fate.”
This series gets more incredible with every book! I love how this authors switches from one POV to the next. It keeps you in touch with all of them! I just love it! These twins are literally fire and ice! The story is one that I can easily dig into this story and not come out until I'm done. These characters are spectacular.. I can't decide if Ryan or Kane is my fae boy toy! I think Kane! I shed tears during this book, laughed, and cheered with revenge was give to our girls! The different types of Fae in this book really make it something I enjoy! I am eagerly waiting for the next part of the fabulous series! I know Kay and Kira will get that crazy violet eyed freak and when they do it will be epic. I would recommend this to anyone who loves Fae books with love, action, emotion, and keeps you wanting more!
I was given this book by author in exchange for an honest review
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
All I can think to say is that I cried at that ending. Wow, that was emotional, and it wasn't even as horrible as all the deaths that take place in this book! And yeah, there are a lot of dead people. Some key players are definitely out of the picture now--good and bad.
Most of the book takes place over a very short timeline. We learn a lot about why Lord Donovan is a bad guy. What triggered him to play the devil. That was an interesting story. Didn't see that coming. Also didn't see a few things that I can't give away in a review.
Some characters took a back seat in this book from the first, but then there are a few new, key characters that really bring this book to life.
The Frozen Star picks up right where The Burning Star left off. Kay has been kidnapped by Lord Donovan and Kira is recovering from the near fatal wounds she received trying to stop him. Kira is the main focal point of this story as we learn how she came to be raised by Lord Donovan and what her connection to Kay is. Now safe and secure in the Seelie castle, Kira is finding her first taste of freedom somewhat stifling.
Kay, waiting for the unknown in Lord Donovan’s dungeon, gains unexpected allies as she tries to figure out what Donovan is planning. Still reeling from learning she is not human and she has powers galore, Kay struggles against her illness while trying to find away to escape and make her way back to her family, friends, and Ryan.
Jessie Lane has upped the ante on her fantasy YA series. More action, intrigue, suspense, violence, and romance permeate this installment. Emotions run high as we learn the of the complicated ties that bind Kay and Kira and Lord Donovan’s end game. Lane continues to manipulate the legends of the fae, borrowing from other fairy tales to create their own version. Crisp concise writing and a fast pace engages the reader from page one. I enjoy the YA tone that the series continues to carry. Still refreshingly barren of the purple prose and huge emotional angst scenes that seem to clutter YA much more often than not. A good balance of suspense and humor goes far in keeping the storyline on an even keel. The world continues to build and evolve with added knowledge and characters.
Kira and Kay’s back stories are incredibly different yet they are very similar personality wise. Kira, like Kay, is strong, committed, and loyal. You get an old soul feeling from her even though she is only seventeen. Her life has aged her both emotionally and mentally. Not raised in the most loving of homes, Kira’s childhood was a study in cruelty. She was raised by Lord Donovan with his malicious son, Cole. Abused and tortured, Lord Donovan systematically stripped her of everything, leaving her an almost empty shell, devoid of even the smallest of emotions. Unlike Kay though, Kira is a warrior. She will not be content sitting safe in the castle while everyone else fights for her safety. This causes some untold problems when Kira’s parentage comes to light and suddenly Kira has a large family that loves and cares for her.
The unsure romantic entanglements from The Frozen Star are sorted out in here. There are multiple romances that sweep through the book offering hope and humor to lighten the dark undertones. The romances are sweet, heartfelt, and undeniably YA which worked perfectly with the tone of the book. Prince Kane is undeniably a romantic as he tries to convince Kira she is the only one for him and shows her in a manner that can’t be ignored. Ryan is heartbroken Kay is gone but receives a gift, proving to Ryan that she is indeed his soul mate. Even Nick finds love with a prickly fae but certain events keep the reader unsure if they are meant to be.
The main conflict is supported by various subplots but easily contained in that the storylines are told primarily from Kira and Kay’s viewpoints. The shifts are easy to follow with no lag time or confusion. Through the girls we learn the source of Lord Donovan vendetta and what his future plans are. Some new characters are introduced to help widen the scope of the world while some are lost. I enjoyed seeing familiar faces and getting to know them better. Prince Kane has to be my favorite. He’s so open and the perfect foil for the darker more somber Kira.
Lane once again systemically resolves the main conflict with the appropriate means, leaving us some what shocked and dismayed by some of the results. We are left with a cliffhanger but not a major one.
The Frozen Star more than answered the challenge left by The Burning Star and is perfect for those YA readers who enjoy a steady diet of dreamy boys, action packed adventures, and diabolical villains in their paranormal diet. I look forward to the next and I look forward to book three, the final installment, title and release date to be announced.
The Frozen Star was an awesome sequel to The Burning Star, the perfect continuation of a powerful story!
I loved this thrilling and intoxicating sequel! I longed to read and learn the truth about Kira, one of the major characters from the first volume, which I was very much impressed by. Her personality and her past has made of Kira one of my favorite character from the first book. In addition, Prince Kane seems to have thrown his sights on her (Oh I wish he had his heart set on me, he seems so... intense!) and I was eager to read about their growing relationship. Jessie Lane did not disappoint me on that!
Several majestic revelations were waiting for me in this series and not only about Kay or Kira. Every page holds a new secret, a new drama and the mixed feeling I felt while reading The Frozen Star was awesome and refreshing!
Not only has the author Jessie Lane offered several startling revelations, but also an incredible adventure full of action with extreme measures and even murders! I was overwhelmed by many horrible scenes where Lord Donovan is the main actor. With the prologue only, I had Goosebumps and you quickly understand why Cole is as it is today, a heartless monster. Lord Donovan is quite the Bad Guy of the year! He's merciless, heartless and everything he does serve a specific purpose and I think the reader just saw a glimpse of what he his and can do!
The prophecy about Lord Donovan and the twins was great. I liked the fact that it concerns not only Kay and Kira, but also an important new character in the story.
The Frozen Star isn't a stand-alone, you need to have read the first book to understand the essence of the story and feel the excitement just as the only Jessie Lane is able to describe them. All novels written by these talented writers are always fall in my literary tastes and I never cease to be impressed by their equally impressive stories!
I recommend this title, well the entire series and even all the books written by Jessie Lane! The Star series is a must-read if you love YA paranormal romance!
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
I fell in love with the first book in this series. I loved the whole Fae world and the mystery of Kay. Who is she? What is going on. Then we meet Kira and we KNOW she is important why? Well we get the questions to those in book 1 but they leave us perplexed waiting for book2.
So this book begins with Kay being held captive by Lord Donovan. Kira finds out she is a Princess ANNND kay's twin sister. Kane is right there to snuggle with this princess. I have to admit i loved the scene where Kane shows Kira his wings.....if you read book 1 you know the significance of that...It defo made a SIGH.......The two start to build a relationship and are defo heading in the right direction.
Ryan is LOST without Kay. He knows she is it for him. She is his soul mate. They two have a mind connection which ends up helping Kay through some tough times. Kay is being tortured by Donovan and we find out why he wants the Twins......he is cray cray for sure.
Cole....MAN DO WE HATE HIM!! He is very present in book 1 and book 2. Lets just say, he is still a super special Fae...please read that with sarcasm!!!
The twins find out what their special gifts are and that they need another family member to help them to destroy the Lord Donovan. It is a really cool story line. Skye is the family member that they need who ends up being Nick, the werewolfs, fated mate. I loved the scene when he finally admits that she is the mate he knew would come....but then something happens and Nick is very hurtful to his Fae.....SNIFF SNIFF.
I can't wait for the next part of the movel.....The War is defo getting ready to start. Lets hope that the girls to figure out how to destroy Donovan before he destroys the world!!
I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
First let me just say that this is the first book, that I read from this author, and let me just say that I am so glad that I got read it, I have to say I haven't read the first book, but I did not have no confusing at all, I love the characters and love how the book end it, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.
The story begging with Cole mother when she gave birth to him, it tell you how she was beating and had her child taking away from, than it will tell you when she being in a lock down for the last nine years, and how she seen her son for the first time since he was born, than it will tell you four years ago when she stop fighting, and Cole saw the light of life dreading away from his mother, the only thing is that he did not know that was his mother.
Now is the present and Kay is waking up, but she don't know where she has waking up, she finds her self tied up and bleeding, and she is met with Cole violet eyes, will she have the same fate as Cole mother.
I really love and enjoy reading this book, I love the characters, I love it how this is one different book, that I had read from before and I love it, Author Jessie Lane THANK YOU for the introducing me to this awesome book and this amazing characters love it.
Jessie Lane is one of my go-to authors. When asked to read and review The Frozen Star for her I didn’t even stop to think. The answer was so easy, DUH! Of course, I would.
The Frozen Star takes right off where The Burning Star left off. Lord Donavon is holding Kira hostage while telling her lies about why she is orphaned and living with him. Kay is about to find out everything she knows is not quite the truth.
I love that many of the characters from book one are found in book two and that Jessie Lane introduces new characters that add so much to the story. The plot of the story is told over a very short time period, but yet there is so much detail and depth that the story is not rushed or parts missing. Jessie Lane gives enough detail to each setting and character that you feel as if you are traveling with them and seeing what they are seeing.
My only complaint is that book three in this series, The Divine star, is not available yet so I have to wait to find out if Kira and Kay fulfill their prophecy. This entire series is one I highly recommend and anxiously look forward to more about the old and the new characters.
Excellent May 30, 2014 By Pat Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase This is a must read. The Ladies have done it again. The Frozen Star draws you into their desire, their pains…. Shoot between wanting to cry, beat the crap out of a few characters, and falling in love with the hunky guys,( I am sure the guys will be fantasying about the girls also), you are constantly feeling that you are right there with all of them. And let’s not forget the Killer suspense, and anticipations that takes you to the brink that you can feel every emotion coursing through your own veins. This whole adventure keeps you glued to your seat wanting more. Their writing style, sparks your imagination and at times can leave you breathless. As you’re reading, the visualization of the realms and how the characters look and act are so well written. I love books that don’t short change you with the details but in the same instance don’t give you so much detail you forget what the characters were doing. They did a fantastic job of blending and balancing details with the character’s actions and their surroundings. Bravo, Lady's. Carefully they intertwine the innocence of love around the dark side of harshness and cruelty that sometimes life dish out. All I can say is Well done and Thank you for and exciting adventure and Please……. hurry up with book 3. I can not wait to see what happens. Biting finger nails off till then. This is and awesome adventure for young adults 16 and up,and us older folks to LOL. Keep up the great writing. Your Fan, Pat.
