When I was in high school I did a "thesis" on runaways. My teacher thought it was a lame idea and tried to talk me out of it. I was determined...and anyone who knows me basically knows that once I dig in my heels, you had best just give up.
What I learned is exactly what this book says. Most runaways aren't out there because they are belligerent, naughty, spoiled kids. They are trying to escape the awful things that are happening at home. Almost all prostitutes have been raped and abused...before they are ever a prostitute.

This story lost a star for it's unrealistic ending. Forget any formatting or editing issues. The story was powerful and an honest portrayal of something that happens everyday. But, the ending? Yeah...it doesn't usually end up like that.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. This is one of the first full length books that I have ran in some time. I am glad that Alexis's story could be told in one sitting!! I wish that authors would go back to full length at time!!(OK enough of my ranting lol)

Alexis's journey is one that many can relate to. You may not have been through some of the harsh things that she has endured, but I am sure that you have felt some of the emotions that she has felt t one time or another.

Alexis's mother was an drug addict but she never harmed her until she couldn't pay her debt to her drug dealer boyfriend. Although, her mother knew it was wrong she let her bf rape and sexually abuse Alexis to keep getting high. Alexis who is normally a straight A student; becomes withdrawn. Tired of the nightly abuse she runs away. On the streets left to fend for herself, she sleeps in an old bus stop shelter, until an unlikely character offers her a warm place to stay. Thinking her problems were solve, young Alexis has no idea what is in store for her.

This story was about finding your strength, moving forward, and not looking back. If you find something you love, you don't ever have to search for it again!

Typical

The more I read this book the more I felt like the story was headed down a typical path. The things that kept happening to Alexis made me roll my eyes a lot lol. Not to say that her situation isn't something that happens to women in her life of work, it was just a little annoying to see that every bad thing that happened to her ended the same. The best part of the story to be was when Alexis was able to pay all the people back in her life that had helped her. I would've like to see a romance relationship happen between her and Greg because a lot of times in the story it seemed like something was going to happen with them. Overall, the story was ok.

While the description of the book was intriguing, the book was not. I was really disappointed. I admire anyone who can write and have their work published. This book needs editing and the story just didn't flow well, in my opinion. :(
