Tangled & Bound

Friendly, adventurous, sexually submissive…and a complete stranger. She’s exactly the anonymous, no-consequences diversion fetish-club owner Sam needs to kick off a few days in Las Vegas. He doesn’t hesitate to take her up against the door of the in-flight bathroom.

Powerful, dominant Sam could have walked straight out of one of Melanie’s dog-eared BDSM novels. When he strikes up a conversation with her on a late-evening flight, fictional fantasies become knee-weakening, panty-soaking, feminine-core-clenching reality. And oh-em-gee, does she want another taste of that!

When Sam informs her that his plans don’t include a long-term D/s relationship with an impulsive young blonde for whom submission is more than likely a passing whim, Melanie throws herself into convincing him she is exactly the submissive lover he wants, needs and can’t live without.

Another disappointing read. This one was, again, short but it took me three days to finish because the heroine and hero annoyed me to no end.

The heroine was desperate to be dominated, she left her self-respect out of the door and dressed herself as a doormat. She wanted the hero, Sam, who is suppose to be a Dom to take her under his wing. The hero refused for some inane and ridiculous reasons ever and she can't take no for an answer and hounded him.

This went on for about 90% of the book. When the hero finally relented, they had boring sex, went to the "club" and then the end. Meh.

A free copy of this book was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
After her neighbour on a flight notices Melanie reading a BDSM novel, he challenges her to experience the real thing in the plane bathroom. Expecting the experience to be a one-off, she is then surprised to find the man, Sam, is actually a friend of her brother and sister-in-law and attending the same wedding. She then tries to convince Sam to take her on as his submissive, despite his resistance.
I'm not really sure how to review this book. It started off so promisingly with a hot scene between Melanie and Sam on the plane, and then descended into chaos. Melanie suddenly became whiny and demanding, Sam kept getting Melanie off and then pushing her away, and for all their talk of contracts and correct etiquette in the BDSM community, no kind of aftercare was ever shown to Melanie after their scenes. I know it was part of the whole 'Sam regretting their encounters' part of the story, but it just seemed odd when he was supposed to be a top Dom who always played by the rules. It was just very confused and it was repeated about three times over the course of the book, when once would have been enough to make a point. If it wasn't because of the good chemistry between the main characters I probably would have given up on the book.
Good characters and a promising, sexy start to the story are let down by an indecisive hero. 2.5 stars.

This book was HOT from the get go. Melanie is going to see her brother get married, she is reading a hot book on the flight. Sam sees a hot girl on the plane and asks her about the book she is reading. One thing leads to another and they are joining the mile high club. This book was so hot and you have to read it see what happens once they get off the plane.
Characters: The characters were well written and believable.
Sex: oh yes
Religious: no

Not specific spoilers, just my impression of the story.

Only one sex scene stands out in my mind, the first one. There were a few others, but the most overriding impression I have from this book is irritation. For the Dom to be a dominant Dom, he spent most of the book telling the h No, doing stuff and then abruptly withdrawing. I had whiplash watching him go back and forth. I've read books about bratty subs before (and she's a neophyte, introduced to the culture by the "mommy porn" ), and books where the sub wasn't quite aware of what they were getting into, and it was handled better than the constant grab then shove away. However, jmo, and I'm sure others will enjoy the story.

Melanie is on a lat night flight to Las Vegas with book in hand when she notices the man who is seated next to her. If only her dreams could come true instead of through a BDSM book. Sam also notices Melanie and the book she carries. Next thing you know the two are in the airplanes bathroom fulfilling both of their desires.

The author did a good job in writing and plotting out this book. I was however, a little disappointed in Sam's character and his evolution in the story. He was a wee bit to hurt and harsh for my taste which made Melanie's character seem a bit insipid. The ending was overly predictable as well as the story line. The saving grace was indeed the love scenes.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

Great novella, hot, hot, hot and fun too! This is the third in the series, and rounds it out beautifully with the story of Melanie, David's sister and Sam the owner of the BDSM club. Not surprisingly, he has lots of experience and no desire to be tied to one person. She has no experience, but lots of desire. The dance they play is funny, sad and finally rewarding. Very entertaining, and definitely re-readable, as a standalone, or even better as a trilogy.

Thank you Ms Ryan-Davis for a great series.

This book is misleading, in the best possible way. All through the first chapter it seemed we were heading into pure erotica with a fluffy, somewhat unbelievable storyline. But as far as first impressions go, I could not have been more wrong.

We begin the story with our heroine Melanie wandering in the airport and having just spotted what she thinks might be an actual dom. Being a total newbie to the lifestyle—honestly more of an enthusiastic bdsm fan at this point—she is pretty excited. A state which increases exponentially when she discovers that the hypothetical dom in question is not only assigned to the seat next to her, but not hypothetical, at all. What follows is a flamingly hot d/s encounter (one flight stand?) that unfortunately confuses her as much as it arouses.

Our mystery dom is Sam, and he is…kind of amazing. Bizarrely, I loved him before I was even certain that I liked him, and for one simple reason: He actually explains himself.

“I understand you’re hurt. I realize my failure to remain consistent is the reason you’re hurt, and I apologize. I’m attracted to you. I want you. I want you under me, submitting to me, and begging me to fulfill you. I also want you turning to me for comfort when you’re upset, looking to me for guidance when you’re lost and relying upon me for strength when you’re weak. Wanting you isn’t the problem. Trusting you is.”

A book dom who knows what he wants, doesn’t play around, truly takes responsibility, and actually communicates? Be still my heart. In contrast, Melanie is playful, but while she doesn’t take no for an answer (when she probably ought to), she doesn’t do anything from a spiteful standpoint. Which is also refreshing to read.

I want to say that this book doesn’t work as a stand-alone…but that’s not entirely true. While it’s obvious that this is part of a series, the hints toward David and Jovanna’s relationship do not in any way take away from Sam and Melanie’s story. They do, however, make the reader grab at their never-ending To-Be-Read list to add another title.

I did have one real issue with the book, as much as I enjoyed it. I felt that a lot of the backstory on Sam and Melanie was missing. Through out the story we get a decent crash course on d/s, but only snippets from the lives of the main characters. In the end, we’re left with more of a brief synopsis on them, than actually getting to know who they are as people.

For the sake of full disclosure it must be stated that I received this book, free of charge, from Netgalley.

When I ran across an end-cap display selling copies of Fifty Shades of Grey in a major chain grocery store last year, I realized the degree to which BDSM has been assimilated into our culture. Whatever the merits of that particular book are in terms of literary importance or accurately portraying the BDSM lifestyle, its popularity certainly has benefited the genre in general - all boats rise with the tide. Perhaps as an acknowledgement of or an homage to its pervasive influence, the opening scene in Emily Ryan-Davis’ Tangled and Bound subtly incorporates Fifty Shades of Grey into the story merely by mentioning the iconic man’s tie on the cover of a book one of the main characters is reading on a flight from New York City to Las Vegas.

Fittingly, the book she later refers to as mommy porn becomes the gambit for a conversation between Melanie and the passenger seated next to her, Sam, a lifestyle dom who oozes self-confidence and sexuality. In true erotic novel fashion, the conversation quickly escalates to the extent that the newly acquainted travelers slip off to the plane’s restroom and join the kinky contingent of the mile high club. Unfortunately, their rendezvous is followed by awkwardness during the remainder of the flight as Sam experiences the equivalent of morning-after regret.

When the flight finally reaches its destination, instead of being able to go their separate ways, the pair discover that they are both being met by Melanie’s brother and his fiancé, whose wedding they are attending. Most of the book from there on is a sort of tortured mating dance in which Sam wrestles with his reluctance to open himself up to a free spirit wannabe submissive despite their obvious mutual attraction and lust for one another. In many respects this book seems to be a serious attempt to portray the “real" BDSM lifestyle and its protocols/ethics within an erotic format. Alas, as a result some elements of the story come off a little like “how to" lessons in proper safe, sane and consensual etiquette.

Whereas Tangled and Bound is ostensibly a work of BDSM erotica, it has surprisingly few consummated activities in that regard. The story contains more thinking and talking about and wanting to than actual doing. Also, it bears noting that while the erotic scenes are all very well done and sexy as hell, from a kink standpoint they are relatively tame. Whether or not this matters to prospective readers will largely depend upon their sensibilities.

Review originally posted at Romance After Dark, a Romancing the Book site

When you’re a divorcee in your forties, disillusioned with marriage and – especially – marital sex, what do you do? Well, if you’re Melanie, you join an upscale, exclusive BDSM club.
Her first night there, Melanie meets Sam, one of the co-owners, who ostensibly will just escort her around and show her the ropes (GET IT? The ropes? A BDSM club?). Sam’s tour turns much hotter when he finds himself unable to resist her, and the two hit the sheets. Melanie craves the spanky panky, and Sam craves delivering it.
They fall for each other: she finds a man willing to take the dominant role in her life, pushing her limits and inflicting pain when she needs it. He finds a willing submissive who pushes his limits and accepts the pain he needs to inflict. The romance aspect is fairly straightforward, which just goes to show that BDSM fans are just folks. Melanie, still smarting from her divorce, is reluctant to give her heart, while Sam has to face issues of his own.
There aren’t a lot of surprises in this book, but that’s okay. It’s a quick novella, and the sex scenes are HOT. Let’s face it, when you read one of these books, you aren’t exactly looking for character development. You want the sexy times, and Emily Ryan-Davis delivers. There is one exceptionally combustive scene that takes place in Sam’s club when he puts Melanie on display, so to speak.
Aside from the hot sex, Sam and Melanie are pretty good characters. Melanie is someone we can relate to because she’s realistic. She wants to discover her sexuality, and she is old enough and secure enough to know that she deserves to seek out the pleasure she wants. And Sam. Sam, people. Sam is the perfect hero, BDSM or not. He is strong, supportive, and knows how to please a woman. Boy, does he ever.
So, yes, while this book is predictable, it’s nonetheless fun and steamy. And who knows – maybe you will get some ideas for some fun things you can try out.
Warning: This book features BDSM, and while not bizarre or hard core, there are scenes featuring beatings and exhibitionism.

Thoughts: This erotic little tale certainly wastes no time diving right in...can you imagine meeting a stranger on a plane and letting him do naughty, wicked things to you? Well, that is exactly what Melanie does...and it is certainly surreal! It fits right with every erotic romance reader, as that is how their conversation starts - over a popular erotic novel she is reading on the plane - when he decides to make her curiosity become reality! Unfortunately, it's when the plane lands that things start to go a little haywire.....can they make their little bit fun in the sky turn into more?
This was a well written tale about Melanie who was looking to explore the BDSM world, and she found just the dom to do it in the more experienced Sam, who had a moment here or there where he could have stood being knocked down a peg or two. He was a very likeable character, but in his mind Melanie was just going through a "phase" so he tried scaring her off at one point - which was certainly not his finest moment. Melanie was great - she knew her mind, knew what she wanted - and she was determined not let anything phase her from that. I admired her determination. It was a well written book, and there are certainly some books that a that are out there of this genre that are super-popular that are much worse than this one - I won't point out any titles (or colors). Well, done...I'll have to read more from this author and from this series...it certainly caught my attention that's for sure...and I'll definitely think about this book every time I board a plane, that's for sure!...LOL

This is the erotic story of Melanie and Sam. Having a mile-high fling with an anonymous stranger is something Melanie never thought she would do, and when said stranger turns out to be her brother's friend Sam, a whole new world of possibilities opens up for her. But Sam isn't interested in a relationship - co-owner of the sex club Bondage, he's seen everything out there and doesn't have room for love and affection in his life. Melanie wants what Sam won't give her, until he realizes that if he doesn't take care of her needs, she'll find someone else and suddenly that isn't good enough for him anymore.

I quite enjoyed this story! There isn't a lot of romance in this book. I found it to be more of an exploration of the world of kink and the emotional impact of one's sexual choices. Melanie was a really interesting character as a woman learning that she wants and needs to be submissive in the bedroom and when she finds that with Sam, she isn't ready to let go of their anonymous encounter, trying everything to convince him that she can be the woman he is looking for in his life. She is bound and determined to prove it to him. Sam is a strong, dominant man, one who trains women to be submissive but has avoided the emotional connection to any of them. He realizes that he is feeling something for Melanie and he tries to cut it off, avoiding the sexual invitations she sends his way, but to no avail. The sexual attraction between them is strong and he can't fight it. The scenes between them are well written and steamy, but carry an emotional weight as well.

Overall, this was a sexy read, introducing the reader to some of the kinks of a sex club, but more importantly revealing the desires and needs of two people looking for a fulfilling relationship. 4 stars.

Experienced male Dominant meets submissive-curious woman and they live happily ever after.

Heck no! It’s not that simple! Emily Ryan-Davis takes us beyond the “gateway drug” of Fifty Shades of Grey and educates us about what the BDSM lifestyle really looks like, from the point of view of experience, AND the point of view of the curious and observant newbie. She does this with a lovely, romantic tale and a LOT of hot sex that will melt your eReader.

“'Submission. That’s what you’re reading about.' His smile returned, faint at the corners of his mouth. 'Critics are calling that a gateway book.'”

I’m going to be buying lots of other books from this author. This series, so far, is filled with quick-read novellas, but with complete stories that don’t leave you hanging or feeling like something was missing. Her voice is positive, quirky, funny, and oh-so-sexy. I bought the first two books in this series a couple days ago, without realizing Emily was going through a change in publisher. So, I returned them today, and bought the ones with the shiny new covers and the new series name of Blue Room VIPs. I’ll be more careful with my future purchases to be sure this wonderful author gets proper credit for book sales.

As of October 20, 2014, this book’s information is not updated on Goodreads, so I have not included a link there. This book was released by another publisher on September 21, 2012. The author has recently self-published this series. Accurate information can be found through Amazon.

Tangled & Bound is the third book in the Blue Room VIPs series, but was easily enjoyed as a stand alone novella.

If you're looking for a great short book with some steamy sex scenes and a bit of personal conflict, you've found the perfect book. Melanie and Sam have a HOT tryst while on an airplane bound for Vegas...only they wont be separating ways once they get off the airplane.

Going into this book I thought that it would be filled will dirty, raunchy (in a oh so steamy way) BDSM scenes, that's not quite the case though. While Sam might be a long time Dom, he is unwilling to take things with Melanie too fast, leading this book to have a more mild BDSM experience. There is plenty of power play within the book, but most of it occurs while their clothes are still on, which would make this a great stepping stone for readers new to the BDSM genre. There is also a bit of anal play involved, again it's pretty mild for an erotic book.

I find that often times novellas or shorter books have a tendency to over complicate stories and rush through them, I didn't find that to be the case for this book. I thought that it had a decent storyline, and that it moved at a great pace while still giving a feeling of completion at the end. I also really liked Sam's character and the inner struggles that he dealt with when it came to Meanie; it wasn't really something that I had expected in a shorter book.

Sam Fletcher is a man of mystery and many needs. He is a club owner and a dominant that values his relationships if that what you would call them. He is proud to say that he usually can help figure out what a woman wants and needs he will give that to them and then he moves on. A chance meeting on a plane with a pretty young thing and he soon realizes that he may need more than he has been allowing himself. It scares him and he decides he needs to get away. As fate would have it the very thing he is running from ends up right smack in front of him. He decides to play it cool and aloof. Melanie Burke is a sensitive, giving person that still feels that she hasn't found her way. One small taste of our dominant Sam and she feels that she may have found herself a lifestyle change.
Sam is not convinced and decides for the welfare of both of them he should leave. They end up right back where they started several months down the road and this time they have no choice but to figure this out before some one gets hurt! I think that Sam and Melanie may have been my favorite out of the group although I did enjoy our man David from Book 1 !!! A great series of short read that help you indulge in fantasy and play.

Book three Tangled and Bound would have to be the Best book out of the 3 Blue Room VIPs books, it really delves into the world of BDSM and how a young girl wants to become a Sub.

Melanie Bourke is on her way to Vegas for her brother's wedding, little does she know the man sitting next to her is her brother's best friend Sam Fletcher who is part owner of Bondage the BDSM club. She is drawn to him and wants to be his Sub.

Sam Fletcher doesn't do relationships and a tryst with Melanie in the plane bathroom make him want things he hasn't wanted. What makes things worse when he finds out Melanie is his friend little sister he knows he should stay clear.

This book really came to life, you can see the chemistry between Melanie and Sam, you want him to give into to his needs but at the same time you feel maybe Melanie is to young.

This book really gets into the nitty gritty part talking about contracts and what can happen, Sam try's to discourage Melanie but can't let go. They both change and both grow to except what will happen.

I found this book very hot at times and could really see another book in this relationship to see how far these two can go.

I gave this book 5 stars

Melanie that girl is something else, "well, you used a condom and you didn't leave me hanging, so I figure you fulfilled your obligations." she shrugged." Melanie gives Sam such a hard time and it was fun watching him go insane, "Sam gritted his teeth, smothering his desire to rid her of the attitude and fortifying his determination not to look down. "I wasn't checking you out." The relationship between these two is interesting and kind of unconventional, "he discarded his ace and collected another card from the dealer. "Are you calling me old, little girl?" There were times I didn't like Sam I thought he was to guarded and mean, "because we're not lovers and that wasn't supposed to be foreplay," he bit out." There were times I loved him though and that was when he was loving on his girl, "simple solution, honey." Sam pulled her away from the wall and directed her up the stairs ahead of him, one hand resting possessively on her hip. "You stop thinking about anything except how much I want you." I enjoyed this book a ton.

ARC (of new edition) provided by CrushStar Multimedia LLC via NetGalley for an honest review!

This was actually quite HOT and fun to read! SO, you have a little 'one flight stand (lol)' just to realize the 'stranger' you just had sex with very very high in the sky is NOT staying a stranger due to outside forces! Um yea ..... that's funny! lol
There's not a lot of romance in this book, but more of an exploration of the world of kink and the emotional impact of one's sexual choices. You see, our heroine wants to be a submissive, to our hero. But he's not having any of that. And she will go to any lengths to prove to him that she is the one for him. Well our hero does a good job of keeping her at bay until he realizes that if HE doesn't step up then she's going to find someone who will!
Overall, this was a sexy read. The sexual attraction between them is strong and and the scenes between them are well written and steamy! I loved the exploration of the relationship as well.
Highly recommend this to anyone that likes their romances with a bit of kink to them :)

I love how the series keeps taking just a step away from the already established characters. We’ve already met Melanie and Sam briefly (since Melanie is David’s sister… and Sam is a co-owner of the club where everyone lives out some of their fantasies in some way or another) and after a (sort of) chance meeting on a flight… Melanie & Sam go way past meeting. Although… it’s not really a meeting… more of a mystery mile high encounter. Until Melanie & Sam are BOTH picked up at baggage claim by David. It wasn’t event until they met David at baggage claim that I even remembered exactly who Sam was. Yikes.

All I can say is… Sam must’ve been all kinds of mind blowing on that airplane…. because as much as he fights going anywhere beyond the flight with Melanie, she is certainly persistent. I wanted to smack both of them more than once. It seemed that everyone (even Melanie’s big brother) knew and expected them to be together. It just took a long time for Sam to catch up.

As much as the struggle drove me all kinds of crazy… it did make the end sweeter.

You dont have to read the others in this series to read this one. But the characters do make cameos in the other books and other characters in this one. All of the books stand-alone really well. That being said I really liked this one and it was very hot but at times completely frustrating!
Sam was very hot and cold with Melanie. I could understand where he was coming from not wanting to hurt Melanie and thinking that he would be too much for her but he was so on then off it was crazy. I wish they got more into his back round. He is very intriguing but he is still a big mystery.
Melanie was sweet but at times very childish. I really like her and Sam together but she acted at times like she didn't know what she wanted.
When they were together it was very steamy and erotic. Its another fast read from the author.
Its a great series and I hope to get more in it. I'm definitely going to check out her other work.

The third installment to the Blue Room VIP’s series is Tangled & Bound by Emily Ryan-Davis. This is the story of Melanie and Sam. When Melanie sees Sam on a plane she just knows he is the man for her. Well she really hopes, he gives off the I am in charge vibe, when he sees what she is reading on the plane and offers a taste of submission. She cannot help but take it.
When they land and reality hits can Sam let Melanie be the one for him? Or will he let his fears hold him back?
I liked these two characters they are both strong yet vulnerable in their own special ways. I loved their chemistry whew I will never think of a plane ride the same ever again. These two are really meant for each other.
Unlike the previous book in this series this one should be read in order. I think you will love meeting David and Jovanna again and seeing where they are today. I loved Tangled& Bound truly a book to remember.

This is the third in this short novella series. This was an ARC I received and I truly enjoyed it. I read the first two in this series because I do not like reading anything out if order. So, needless to say, these really can be read out of order and do not all have to be read in order. This one I feel is better than the first two and seemed longer to me. Sam and Melanie have some things to figure out and Sam is sure one stubborn man! I enjoyed this one. The characters were good and the scenes were hot. I am glad we were able to see David and Davonna in this one. This author has strong characters who know what they want and are not afraid to go after them. well, some of the characters!! Good fast read!

I received this ARC from the author via Net Galley for my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you, Net Galley!

More than she bargained for...

The third is this BDSM series is Melanie and Sam's story. Melanie is on her way to Vegas for her brother, David, and Jovanna's wedding. And now a bit about the story...

Melanie has yet to find her perfect match and her romance novels are just not cutting it anymore. When she sees a hot cowboy at the airport, she has no idea who he is and is even more excited to find out they will be sitting next to each other... When she meets David and Jovanna at baggage claim, she learns the hot cowboy is Sam and he will be at the wedding. From the anonymous encounter on the plane to the numerous ups and downs... this book will have you tangled up wondering what will happen next.

Favorite passage: “I’m a big girl. I get to drink and vote and make decisions like whether or not I should follow a man into an airplane bathroom.”

Hottest on plane stranger sex EVER! Ok just had to get that out of the way first. Melanie is on her way to Vegas and ends up sitting next to a hot naughty talking bossy man - Sam. He is her Dom fantasy man come to reality, but he doesn't think she is serious about the lifestyle and pushes away any possibility of taking things further. Their story is more than just her wanted to explore her sexuality though. It is about two people finding and completing each other, Two people falling for each other and walking through their relationship with a few bumps along the way. All I could think when I reached the end of it was how much I wanted to read more about them. I loved their passion and play and everything else about their story.

I give Tangled & Bound 4 hearts!

anyways Noah and Ty and Tasha have a growing relationship though Ty and Noah are feeling as if the other don't want them . and Tasha feels uncertain on their future . she and Ty were long ago best friends and she came to take Ty from Noah . their relationship though as all relationships have are issues that needed to be worked out as to what well must read to find out , and see what the future may hold for these three people who each have a lot to lose if the relationship fails but can they set the record straight or not . buy , read and review .

This might have been the hottest one yet!! Melanie meets Sam on airplane and boy does it get HAWT on that plane!! I'll never look at an airplane bathroom the same again! Melanie has been considering becoming a Sub but she hasn't be able to find her "right" dom, until she meets Sam. Sam doesn't want another Sub, especially after learning who she is. Can Melanie show Sam that she is serious and what she wants?
Man I tell you! These books had me so hot! I felt like I was actually in the scene and not just reading it! The tension between the two is cut worthy and leaves you aching for more!

A chance encounter with a stranger that turns hot enough to melt your socks, a unexpected crossing of paths and an overwhelming need to experience more, all lead to an engrossing tale of two people inexplicably drawn to each other despite one man’s totally denial that it must be fate.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series from the first book, Melanie and Sam are resilient and convincing, and the story is compelling!!!

Tangled & Bound was most definitely my favourite of the series! So I hope you enjoy this tale of a determined woman and a jaded, well meaning Dom as much as I did!!!

Received an ARC copy for a honest review. Loved it! OMG! Panty dropping hot!!! Storyline was a well written and quick read. So entertaining and spicy that I could not put down. The interaction between Sam and Melanie was passionate and smokin hot along with a look at their inner emotions. Loved how Melanie may be a submissive but she's outspoken and sassy. First book I've read by this author but won't be the last. Would recommend.

Sam and Melanie have a chemistry that threatened the life of my Nook. It was so hot! I enjoyed this ride from beginning to end. The characters were developed just right. The flow was seamless. The writing felt real. It wasn't fluffed up. If there was pain, there was pain. The supporting characters were interesting in their own right. I'm definitely a fan of this author! You'd be crazy to miss this read.

I really enjoyed this author's voice. It was vibrant and sassy, got to the point and into the heads of the characters. I enjoyed the 'mile-high' scene and the h/h time in Vegas, the push and pull between Melanie and Sam, the attraction yet the desire to do the right thing made for a good plot. I will definitely be seeking out more by Emily Ryan-Davis.
