Caden Kink #1

Lovers' Feud

Rate this book
The Hatfields and McCoys meet Dallas…

What should have been simple BDSM club play becomes complicated when lifelong neighbors Bye Caden and Karen Oakley discover there’s more between them than one steamy night. But acting on these feelings is unthinkable, for if discovered, they could reignite a century-old feud between their families.

Sneaking around to be together ups the heat factor of their relationship, but it’s only a matter of time before they must come clean. Forever is hard to come by when one’s father shoots first and asks questions later.

Against a larger-than-life ranch setting, the lovers must overcome not only their own misgivings, but the opposition of their respective families. A task that could prove to be as big as Texas.

Reader Advisory: Our heroine finds herself at the mercy of two sexy Doms one hot Texas night. Lucky girl.

Not at all what I was thinking about when I saw this book -
but it was a cute story

I'd like to think of Romeo and Juliet, but Bye and Karen weren't that young.. But the feud between the families seemed to be almost as bad.

I enjoyed reading the book mostly from Bye's POV - change of pace to have the guy dealing with the emotional problems instead of the female :)

The book starts off at the BDSM club that Karen's cousin Boyd owns. She's playing a scene that she's really enjoying.. more so than she has ever enjoyed in her life.

The Dom working her over has a hood over his face, so she doesn't learn until after it's over who he was.

Bye had a crush on Karen since high school. Sure she is 2 years younger than him, and there would be no way he'd ever be able to get together with her since her father was likely to shoot his head off, and ask questions later. Not to mention his own father's resentment towards her family. But being able to play with her at the club... now that was what Heaven felt like.

Their next meeting at the club was a little different. Especially since it involved Jack, Karen's co-worker. But after that night, Karen went a couple of weeks before seeing Bye again.

Bye's mom was going downhill fast. And it was all Bye could do to keep himself from falling apart.

When the day came and she passed away, Bye's heart broke. The day before the funeral, Bye did break. He needed someone to help him grieve. He called Karen. setting up a secret spot, they met.

She held him, he talked and cried for the loss of his mother.. then she comforted him the best way she knew how.

The next day was his mother's funeral. After the funeral, all hell broke.
Bye learned that his father had another son.

Meeting with Karen in secret again, he spilled his guts and told her everything...

Karen knew getting involved with Bye was only looking for trouble. She could already feel herself falling for him - but she knew her father would never be ok with it..

How could they love each other when their fathers hated each other so much??

The story was really well played out. I loved the hands on cowboy stuff with the calves, and the bulls and the horses.
Fun book to read :)

The BDSM is very slight -

I was a bit bored with the first half of the book, and that's pretty much where all the "Caden Kink" took place. Once Bye and Karen "fell in love", they were pretty tame. (Do you know how many times I had to reread a sentence because Bye as a name is so unusual, and "bye" as a word didn't fit? It was a cute variation on Byron, but very distracting.) "Fell in love" is in quotes because damn, it happened fast. I'll give you that they had a crush in high school and a strong draw now, but I swear it was after their second time together that they were both thinking love. I'll give them lust, but it was too soon for love.

The "mystery" about the decades-old feud was interesting, but a little anti-climactic. I suppose both sides fueled it over the generations, whether on purpose or just by non-action, but that it just fizzled out because two of them fell in love was the anti-climactic part. I was so certain that Bye's daddy, Four, was scheming to get Karen's property when he seemed so la-di-dah about Bye confessing his love for her, but apparently not. At least not in this book, and I don't think I'm ever going to know, because this book was not enough for me to care to continue the series. I'm a *little* curious to see a sober Slade, but who knows if he'd even be a big player in future books. Like I said, I'm not gonna find out. :-/

The Hatfield and McCoy saga intrigues me so when I saw that this book was perhaps similar to a modern day version, I was curious to see how this type of story would play out. Ms. Jacobs does an excellent job of leaving us on the edge of our seat wondering what in the world could have ever started a feud that would have lasted as long as it has between these two families.

Even though the characters meet in a BDSM club owned by Karen’s uncle and the story leads us to believe both her and Bye are each involved in the BDSM lifestyle, the plot told us a different story. It seemed more like experimentation because the BDSM aspect only seemed to apply while they were together at the club.

Both Karen and Bye showed a lot of depth and emotion throughout the story and I enjoyed getting to know each of them. Bye is not only rugged and masculine but shows his tender and sensitive sides as well. Karen is a strong, determined woman who seems very secure with who she is and, despite the feud, is not afraid to be there for Bye when he needs her the most.

There are also several secondary characters that I enjoyed meeting as well and look forward to reading future stories of Bye’s sister, Deidre, and their “friend” Jack. Karen’s Uncle Buck was quite colorful and seemed like he would have some interesting stories to tell. Bye’s dad held a reputation throughout most of the story that made the way he capitulated later on a bit out of place. He’s presented as a hard-nosed, tough as nails father and boss but towards the end his personality seemed to have mellowed.

Without spoiling the story, I do feel the ending was a bit too happily ever after. I’m far from an expert on the “issues” that were being faced by a certain character but it seemed a bit out of touch with reality. Had this been a full-sized novel with more time involved and this portion of the plot developed further, maybe but it just seemed too soon.

Overall, Lover’s Feud drew me in right from the start and if you are looking for a story that has a little bit of BDSM but doesn’t play a major role, give this one a try. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Jacobs.

Lover's Feud. (Book one in the Calden Kink Series)

Ann Jacobs

Contemporary. Act/Adv. Sus/Myst

M/F. BDSM. Voyeurism. Ménage Toys

A century-old feud between families seems to be a hurdle that needs to be aired again.

Karen enjoys a BDSM club for an outlet of pent up desires and needed release. Watching is a turn on that she craves as well as being watched until she meets an unknown Dom that fulfills her every desire and leaves her with something she has never before experienced, a sexual euphoria. She feels satisfied and cherished.

The family feud that had been on going for centuries stands between Karen and Bye. They both feel a driving need to be together and find ways to do so. It isn't just the wild sex that they both crave but more and they both are willing to fight for what they want.

Karen has an out of control drunken father to cope with that takes a toll on her as she fights for what she desires, Bye.

Bye's world is turned up-side-down when his mother dies and his father has a secret aired that he had kept for more than thirty years. Bye turns to Karen for emotional support and they seem to hold each other together as well as have some fantastic sex to release pent up frustration.

Family secrets air aired and more dug out to hopefully end years of feuding.

Be ready for a few tears of joy at the end of this emotionally, sexual and feud fired relationship.

So glad this is book one because I look forward to more from this author and cast of characters.

5 stars. I know Texas is a lone star state but this book earns all FIVE. STARS

Lovers' Feud is a Romeo and Juliet style tale of lovers caught in a feud between their families. I thought this one started out with a real promise of good things to come. Karen and Bye have been neighbours all their lives, but have rarely communicated due to the estrangement of their families. When the book begins, they meet in a private BDSM club - Bye is hooded, but knows who Karen is. Their connection is immediate and Karen can't wait until the next time she is able to play with her hooded mystery Dom. From there, things develop into a real relationship. Karen and Bye work to try to discover the mystery of the feud so that they can have a chance at a future.

I thought the chemistry between Karen and Bye was great, and the steamy scenes well done. I thought the author had an interesting take on the BDSM aspect of their relationship, however. At one point, Karen decides she doesn't need the "play" any longer, as Bye is enough for her in a vanilla way. It seemed that the author was saying that BDSM wasn't a real need for her, but just something for fun. As I said, an interesting take on this, and something I haven't really read before. Most books I've read in the BDSM genre treat the need for kink as something that doesn't go away once someone has found a relationship and a partner.

As the plot progressed I thought the story lost some of its earlier promise. Karen and Bye work to discover the mystery, but it seemed to me that the resolution came just a little too easily...would these older men really change attitudes so quickly? It didn't ring true for me.

I did enjoy the story for the most part, it just wasn't anything spectacular - 3 stars.

Two ranches, a hundred year old feud and two young adults that just may stop it.
It has just about a little bit of everything packed into a sweet story of two adults who want to put the past in the past where it belongs.
Bye Caden has never figured out why he needed to stay away from the Oakleys down the road. Always to afraid to ask his old man or ma. He just kept his head down and kept doing what he wanted to do. Until he played with her at his favorite playground The Neon Lasso. He almost didn't recognize her but now he wants more than play dates. Will he be able to convince her and not get shot at by her pa at the same time.
Karen Oakely had always heard from people that her pa and them were just trash besides no good. Never understanding the feud either, other than the cussing her pa would string out about them Caden's. She's always had her eyes on the oldest Caden boy Bye. But with her heritage she said was too shy to say anything and just let it all pass her by. Until one night at the neon lasso. When her uncle tells her who she played with. Now that she had a taste, she wants more than just play. But can she get Bye to see that? Or will she just be a play-toy to him?

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. This the new Romeo and Juliet or Hatfield and McCoy story but it is called the Caden and Oakleys. Bye Caden is a rancher coming from money and Karen Oakley is a lawyer from rich family also but from "the wrong side of the tracks".
Karen and Bye meet at their local BDSM club and the attraction is immediate. Their passion knows no bounds and can't seem to get enough of each other. However, there is a problem... there has been a feud going between their 2 families since the 1800's and since they want to be together, they have to unravel the story of the feud. The book is packed with surprises and passion and I look forward to reading the rest of this story.

There has been a feud for generations between the Caden’s and Oakley’s, no one quite remembers how it started and no one is making any effort to make amends. When Bye Caden recognizes Karen Oakley at a BDSM club he frequents, he engages in one of the hottest scenes he has experienced. Finding a quiet comfort in Karen is what he wants, but the family feud has them sneaking around and neither is happy that they cannot see each other publicly until an incident has them making an important decision about their future, feud be damned.

I received this book in exchange of an honest review.

This was really a good book! A fantastic mix of BDSM that turns into a love story.

The Romeo and Juliette story of two families feuding for over 130 years that comes to an end with the love between the two heirs of each of those families.
Bye the heir of his father's ranch and Karen the heir to her father's oil ranch.
Can love erase 130 years of hatred between these two families?
Yes it does!!

The first half was very good (hot, dramatic), then it just kind of fizzled out for the HEA.
