It's never a good thing when an alien utters that fateful exclamation, "Oops!" A humorous tale of the end of things. And strawberries. Bonus short story included: The Emergence, a story of a sentient ship who will do anything to protect her beloved captain. Even if it means working with an alien threat.
"Eight Minutes Until the End of the World" was first published in Another Realm magazine under the name Judith Boyer.
Review from Gary Markett of Another Realm: "I like Jomocha Almond Fudge, myself . . . I also like this debut story by Ms. Boyer . . . a lot."
Saw this here on Goodreads and gave it a shot since I absolutely love short stories, especially sci-fi short stories.
The first story is "Eight Minutes Until the End of the World". It's what I would consider slightly longer than a 'flash fiction' story. The premise is a bit of a humorous look at an alien 'accident' that affects humans. And strawberries.
The second story is "The Emergence", about twice as long as the first one. I enjoyed this one even more than the first story. A sentient ship AI has to come to the aid of her captain.
As the first story is so short, I am glad she included The Emergence.
After reading these two stories, I am sure I will also enjoy the other short story I purchased, "Name of a King".
