Katie Morgan has her future planned. It doesn’t include becoming serious about anyone before she achieves her goals, not even her handsome boss. Just because she does not have time to date, doesn’t mean her boss shouldn’t. Her new mission…to make her boss happy, whether or not he wants to be.
Wade McAlester fell in love with Katie the first day she walked into his clinic looking for a job. He hired her, content to settle for friendship until she lives out her dream of becoming a vet. Against his better judgment, Wade allows her to fix him up with a couple of her friends. The dates are disastrous. He can’t believe the kind of women Katie seems to think he’d enjoy spending his life with. However, when Wade’s old colleague, Dr. Laura Redmond shows up, Katie is rethinking how happy she wants her boss to be, and with whom. Definitely not the gorgeous doctor.
Katie (age 22), thinks that her friend and boss, Wade (at 30) really should settle down, so decides to fix him up with a few dates. Wade is perfectly happy to be single, because he’s in love with Katie… but she’s so much younger, he’s her boss and he even lectures her college classes sometimes. A relationship isn’t an option. This had the potential to be a nice friends-to-lovers plot (well, lovers in the Victorian sense, given that this is a Christian novel).
Unfortunately, Falling in Love is full of problems. It is full of head-hopping back and forward between the characters (to the point where I was constantly backtracking to try and work out whose thoughts I was reading) and awkward sentence constructions (“Careful not to cause the kitten, which had grown considerably in the last couple months, any more pain, he laid it down on the towel.”).
In addition, it used unnecessary adverbs, was confusing with two characters with the same name (Margaret the wannabe model and Margaret who runs the orphanage – do they even have orphanages in America any more?), there was redundancy (big surprise that the brunette had brown hair), there were several saccharine moments of mutual admiration between the hero and heroine, and an ending that was cheesy beyond belief - even for a romance. I might have forgiven the ending if I wasn’t so frustrated by the headhopping in particular and the writing in general.
I have read another novella by Susette Williams, published in a collection about Quakers. My recollection is that it was much better than this, with none of the editing issues. I guess that’s why I’m so disappointed in this – I know that she can do better.
This was initially pretty cute and had a lot of potential. But the end was just too rushed, unbelievable in a little-too-easily-resolved kinda way, and oh so cheesy. 2.5 stars
Katie Morgan has her goals set. Go to school to become a veterinarian, she could not fall in love and become distracted. However she realizes that her boss Wade McAlester is a really great guy, and she decides he needs to find a girl and get married. What Katie does not realize is that Wade has already found a girl, nor does Katie realize who it is. Wade McAlester is the local veterinarian that Katie works for, and he has fallen in love with Katie, but is afraid he will scare her off, since she has stated up front that she will not be distracted. The story that follows is sweet and sometimes funny as Katie tries to set him up with different friends on a couple of disastrous dates. One girl who was so in love with herself, Wade was sure she didn't even really notice anything about him, other than the fact that was a "Dr. " Then there was the poor girl who was afraid of her own shadow, and terrified of him, after she pulled out the pepper spray he was sure the date was over. All Wade can hope for is that someday Katie will realize that he is in love with her. I loved this book, I think that one thing that made this book really great is the fact that you knew from the beginning that Wade loved Katie, that made it great watching the story develop. The characters came to life for me and I was cheering Wade on! You will definitely want to read this book, it is a great story, and I have to add the blurb at the end of the book for the next in the series, has me hooked. I cannot wait to read it! Great book, great story! 5 stars 85 pages $2.99 Amazon e-book
Wade is in his thirties, a gifted veterinarian and single. Katie, his younger assistant and friend, can’t seem to figure out why he hasn’t found the love of his life yet.
Katie’s obsession with finding Wade the right woman and his obsession with her collide in a very predictable, but deliciously romantic story line.
The tug of war over friendship boundaries and mounting romantic desires send Wade to prayer again and again.
Tension? Oh my goodness! The romantic tension between the characters is almost tangible. Notice I said romantic tension not sexual tension. I love the clean approach the author takes with them. The innocence of every touch and the silent prayers behind every feeling make this a story you could comfortably share with your teenage daughter.
Very well written scenes stir up the reader to root for a romance that seems to be more than a passing fancy. Wade and Katie have all the markings of forever love, if they could just get out of their heads and make a move already.
Falling In Love is a quick read full of heart. You’ll swoon through each page, your eyes glued until the very last sentence and you’ll no doubt put it down satisfied.
I enjoyed Falling in Love. It's a fairly short novella with endearing characters. The storyline involves a couple who work together. While he knows he is in love with Katie, she just sees him as a friend and her boss. After she attempts to set him up and a couple of dates, she realizes that her feelings are of a romantic nature.
This is an excellent inspirational romance with a gently growing love story. There are definitely references to their Christian faith, but they do not come across as preachy at all. I recommend this delightful story to anyone who enjoys a sweet romance. Happy reading!
Katie wants to be a Vet. More then anything so she has major tunnel vision. So much so that she has no idea that her boss & mentor Wade is madly in love with her. She just wants to finish school and meet her goals. Knowing this & not wanting to spooky her Wade goes along with her plan. Until one day he just can't. Does she see it? Feel it? Return it?The love he so much wants to give & get? You so enjoy I am sure & the excerpt for the next book looks good too.
If you're a fan of Jane Austin's Emma, and would love to get more into Knightly's head - this book is for you. Swoon-worthy Wade is the perfect modern example of Mr. Knightly and he captures the heart from page one. Kate on the other hand is totally clueless, and like Emma, continuously fails at her match-making skills. There were times where I really could have smacked her in the head. Overall a fun read and a sweet romance.
I just love how the heroine tries to play match-maker with her Veterinarian boss. She wants to please him no matter what, but what she doesn't know is that he likes her. Wanting to stay a professional means no office romance in the stalls, so he hides his feelings. How long can he do this without giving in? Buy the book and see.
A love story apt for telling to young adults in Sunday school. A simple, straight-to-the-point, quick read that will appeal to romantic readers who wants something wholesome. This is the first in a series of two romantic Christian novellas, and I am just encouraged to read the next one.
I loved this book,it was really sweet and adorable.Watching the romance kinda grow and hoping that the person will eventually see you as more than a friend.Worth a read.
Short and sweet...Katie was a bit naive which made me cringe, but Wade was a man after God's heart, really trying to stay true to his Christian faith and values... he was wonderful
Katie and Wade work together and he has been in love with her ever since they met. But Katie does not consider him more than a friend, until another woman enters the scene.
This is a very predictable romantic story. The story, though told many times before, was well written. I always enjoy stories that include a deep connection with God. I highly recommend this.
This was a light, short novella that didn't take a lot of effort or brain work to read. A pleasant change from all the non-fiction that I've been reading. A cute story.
A sweet short read with a good amount of faith and prayer all in between, I would read this again as it’s a can’t put down book. A love story that shows patience for Wade and trusting in God. Katie is naive and thinks she has her life planned but God is in control at the end!
Title: FALLING IN LOVE Author: Susette Williams Publisher: Self August 2012 ASIN: B0094ONQXQ Genre: Contemporary romance

FALLING IN LOVE is a difficult book to write a review for. I know this author is talented. But this book was amateurish and not up to the standards I expect from her.
Katie is a pre-vet student, working at a clinic, but she acts like a fifteen year old girl. I’m not sure how old she is really. Wade is thirty, a doctor, her teacher, and he is falling all over himself when she’s near.
The characters are Christian and go to church and pray. But it seems Katie is all mixed up. The girls she fixed Wade up with do not meet the criteria she reamed him for when he went out with Laura. Yet she didn’t get mad at herself for fixing him up with them, instead she got mad at him picking a mature version of the ones she chose.
Wow. I don’t mean to be so harsh. Again, I know this author can do much better. But FALLING IN LOVE is not a book I’m FALLING IN LOVE with.
This a Christian based book and clean as one would expect. So, I found the idea of four separate stories connected by a season theme intriguing. It reminded me of one of my all time favorite series, The wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas, if you've never read don't wait. Back to the present book I absolutely loved reading the couple. Katie was so clueless to the way Wade felt about her and the poor man had it bad. OMG, than to make it worse she tries to fix him up with her friends and I had to laugh at his second blind date as she attempts to pepper spray him and a waiter. LOL. Incidentally I read that she is a h in book 2 I believe. The story was so delightful and I couldn't wait until matters of their hearts were unveiled. The reveal is a unique idea and cute but it was taken a little too far when it was followed up with a proposal. While I think poor Wade's torment should finally reach an end after three years of silence, it was written in an odd way that made it sound generic IMO. I hate to say that as I loved everything else about the story and I hate angst but in this book it just made it so exciting waiting to see that moment. I think it was because you get Wades character sketched early in the story and your like, " Oh yea he's a goner."
Katie put him in the friend zone putting all her focus on school wanting to get her degree first that she doesn't realize how he has etched himself in her heart. It is only until as the book blog promises an old friend comes to town and throws herself at him. It ends where the two make the choice to wed and I hope we get more of them in the books. Enjoy!

Back to the feel-good 'Inspirational', but this time a novelette... and it was an epic 'MEH' read, I must say.
She's his veterinarian assistant. He's loved her for three years, and the idiot NEVER noticed it, even though he sits by her in church, tutors her in her med classes, takes her for dinner, brings her coffee, hangs out at her house, is constantly touching her... ((?!?!?!))
So she decides she's going to set him up with friends, because he's obviously single and needs a woman. And the author then pulls out THE most obnoxious candidates ever (that this girl would NEVER be friends with). Seriously? It was dumb beyond words.
Then finally she thinks he *might* like her, and turns one of his casual dinners-out into this sexy-black-dress thing, and gets upset at HIM for showing up casual. But at least it's the (very lame) vehicle for the author to spur him into an actual declaration - because the black dress means she's finally picked up the clue phone, right? Although having them do it as Romeo and Juliet in a hijacked (NoTe: rude to other customers!) dinner theatre production.
I really, really didn't like this. And there was no spirituality, except several references to pews and an oh-so-necessary "thou shalt not marry an unbeliever". Mileage on that one apparently varies, too, btw. ***SIGH!***

I think I would have enjoyed this story more if I could have figured out WHY the guy was in love with the heroine. She’s fairly annoying from the beginning and proceeds to set him up with her friends, a word she’s using loosely as she doesn’t know anything about either woman. Then both main characters appear cold when they share a laugh over the woman who is fearful of men. It doesn’t occur to either of them that those fears might stem from at attack or abuse, which should not be remotely entertaining.
The age difference should not have been a huge obstacle, but the guy mentions it so much that it feels as though he’s bothered by it and that’s a little creepy, particularly when he wants to kiss her because she looks like “an innocent kitten.” The ending made me cringe so much I could barely read it. (If you believe declarations of love should be private, you’ll agree.) It didn’t even make sense because in the actual play Juliet “dies” before Romeo.
I can forgive plot holes for a well-written tale, but this one had dozens of typos/grammatical errors and tons of awkwardly worded sentences.
Just when you're getting into the swing of the characters and learning their names, BAM, the story's finished. But, you don't have to muck about with frivolous details that really only take up space within the story.
This first venture into the "Seasons of the Heart" series asks for some leaps of faith, but since it's a novella, I tend to go with the author a bit more than I normally would.
Wade is a veterinarian. Katie is an intern in her office. (No, there isn't a blue dress involved.) Their relationship is built on friendship, but Katie keeps trying to set Wade up with her friends, refusing to see more in their relationship.
As the story progresses, feelings change. Add in some jealousy, a big exam, a strange dinner theater denouement and you have the first novella tied up with a bow.
--I was given this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This is the perfect afternoon listen. Suzette Williams has a wonderful knack for being able to write novellas with well developed characters with substance and good storylines. So many times the shorts end up leaving you wanting to know your people better, this book does not make you feel that way. Katy, a student works for the local vet, Wade. He is older, and she thinks he should be dating and thinking about marriage. Wade is busy thinking about Katy. Through a series of events, Katy finally realizes that her feelings for Wade are no longer just friendly, but she wants more. This is a good wholesome romance, absolutely loved it.
Allyson Voller provided a warm and emotional performance. You can picture the scenes in your head with the voices she uses. A definite recommended listen.
I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest review. For the first part of this book I was probably leaning more towards three stars. The story just seemed simple or aimed toward teenagers. As it went on, however, I was more drawn into the story and the characters and relationships seemed more mature and more layered. This is the story of a young college aged woman, Katie. She works for Wade, an older veterinarian. Normally, you would think the younger girl would fall for the older, handsome man. In this story, Ms. Williams has reversed the rolls. It's pretty funny when Katie keeps setting Wade up on dates with disastrous consequences. I ended up enjoying this book quite a bit. I'm on to the next in the series.
I usually avoid novellas, in general I feel like there isn't enough time to truly developed the story and its characters. But I came across a free download for this book so I thought I'd give it a try.
I thought the omniscient pov was distracting. It changed back and forth several times within each chapter always making me wonder whose head I was in. Overall, it was just too cheesy. And the whole dinner date at the end felt like a nightmare to me. If a guy did that to me I would be mad. But then again, I don't like being put on the spot. And call me crazy, but I prefer sitting by my date.
This is a cute and conservative story about people figuring out they have a crush on each other and are falling in love. Think abbreviated church version of Nicholas Sparks with little to no conflict. It would be a good love story to recommend to a conservative or even to a younger audience since it is very family friendly.

Pretty cute story, but really cheesy. Being one who likes cheesy, fluffy novels, even this was a bit too much for me. The plot was predictable, but the story of Wade and Katie was sweet. It was also clean. I'm actually more interested in reading the sequel to this book, Winter Chill, which tells the story of Katie's friend, Sasha.
Very romantic short story. The vet and the girl who works for him have feelings for each other. She wants to get through school before she is sidetracked by dating and love. He is more than happy to hang out with her and even help her study. The problem comes when she decides he needs a wife.
