I was seconds away from marrying the love of my life, seconds away from becoming Mrs. Sean Scofield… Then that bitch fucked up everything…

My name is Melody Carter and I’m one of New York’s youngest and harshest movie critics. Even though half of the movies I’m forced to watch are utter crap (Utter. Crap.), the best ones are usually the romantic comedies. Those are the ones where the couple falls in love at first sight, the ones where the groom ditches the bride at the altar in favor of the real love of his life—some woman he met three weeks ago.

At least that’s what I thought until that very thing happened to me…

Now, I refuse to give any of those movies more than one star, and if my boss tells me to tone down my words on any more of them, I’m going to rip his head off.

I don’t care that Matt Sterling, Hollywood’s sexiest actor alive, is offended. I don’t care that he’s storming into my office and demanding that I change my review, and I don’t care that for some strange reason, he’s pursuing me and making me feel things I’ve never felt before.

Not at all.

A jilted bride is forever jilted, forever jaded, and true love only comes once in a lifetime…

Right?

Book one in the Jilted Bride series.

This was the most outrageous, funny, cute and actually an enjoyable romance love story ….
 photo tumblr_mdkdnh429L1qzj56jo1_500_zpswnua6au6.gif
Even when some of the scenes were beyond OTT….and perhaps unbelievable beyond anything…it still kept me turning the pages …..what could possibly be more outrageous!!!!

Melody Carter, beautiful and talented NYC movie/book reviewer/critic is finally seeing her dream come true! Standing at the altar, saying her I do to the man of her dreams, when a woman walks up the aisle and steals her man from her! The man of her dreams ditches her and runs away with the wedding breaker!!! No, this is not The Runaway Bride Scenario….
 photo download_zpsyyi8q1va.jpg
She’s at the altar, alone at her three thousand dollar wedding she had always dreamt having…..
 photo 360_jilted_bride_0309_zpsz0yrltni.jpg
Devasted, heartbroken, left without a word by the man she believed was the ONE for one and she the ONE for him. That’s so cold!!! How could a man do something like that to a woman like Melody?? Because, she never saw beneath that glamour of his…that he was nothing more than …yes, this is what I think about her darling Sean…..
 photo download201_zpswkjshocx.jpg
What is a girl to do in this situation? Go back to Mom and Dad, hurt, miserable, heartbroken, wanting old Sean back..blah blah blah…and naturally crying buckets!!!
 photo nicki_zpskcapelcr.gif
But there comes a time when you have to do something about the situation…right?? Stop the sobbing and the tears and get on with life…start with the first thing….how to get him back…remember he didn’t like your beautiful red hair and made you change it to brown….start now….
 photo tumblr_mny59kdJ7F1rlhofao1_500_zpsdl8sy3my.gif
And no, girl, throwing darts at his foto is not even close to good enough……
 photo tumblr_mm7lxu7PER1rqml7ao2_r1_500_zpsrgz1gick.gif
Yes, that thought you had!!! Keeping the bestest and most expensive wedding presents for yourself….no, throw away the cookware, keep the money and diamonds and art….
 photo tumblr_mzd0rlZbAf1qkhnbbo1_250_zpstorbxcfq.gif
So it’s back to work and continue with your movie reviews…especially the nasty ones about Matt Sterling’s movies!! Hell, girl, they are beyond cruel!!!!

Matt Sterling, mega superstar, movie star, tabloid Hollywood darling is royally pissed off about the horrendous and negative reviews he gets from Melody Carter, super movie critic and he’s about to tell her exactly what he thinks about her!!!

Their first meeting in Melody’s office is totally brilliant…..
 photo skittles-rainbow-table-240km102010_zpsfww0aucb.jpg
What follows next after this meeting is beyond believable!!!!
Matt Sterling and Selena Ross are a couple, both mega movie stars, once in love but now so not!! Selena wangles a way for Matt agreeing to them having the wedding of the century for publicity purposes, which turns into an absolute nightmare for Matt…because you see, he’s totally besotted with Melody but he can’t seem to find a way to get his life straighten out!!!

Melody is totally besotted with Matt…who would ever guess she could find the REAL man of her dreams so quickly??? But then Matt Sterling is no Sean….he’s so much …so beyond much more than that not Melody’s real first man……
 photo tumblr_mdxd2x6eXA1rifnf9o1_500_zpsqxnjgt8m.gif
This was such a quirky story with some really great secondary characters….my favorites being Joan, Matt’s PA and Jen, Melody’s sister!!! They were a laugh a minute.

Look, this is not a book that’s gonna win any Pulitzer or whatever prize…rather it’s a story that takes you away from the mundane and everyday life…a great escape from reality…and just what I needed!!!!

Ok, so apparently I've read this book before, although I'm 110% sure it wasn't this book. I'll leave the review I wrote, although it's about a totally different book (too bad I can't remember which one).

So. This book definitely goes into the "Nope" category.

It didn't start out awful, it just got worse and worse. I don't like the characters, they feel so flat and they have absolutely no chemistry. I don't understand the male MC, he seems to be an idiot (and you all know how much I love idiots!).

It's boring and predictable (to be expected in a romance) and it's one of those books I dunno why I didn't DNF.
Not awful, just bad.

now for the review of the book that I can't remember but that's definitely not this one

Well this is confusing

When I started this book I didn't know what to expect. I definitely didn't expect a dark romance.
And when I say dark, I mean DARK .

It's not a book for the faint of heart. It has and so much more, but you should know what you are getting into when you start this read.

Good parts, it's really well written, it was hard to put down (even though I wanted to so many times). The characters are interesting, definitely something else.

If you decide to read it, be ready for a hard plot to swallow.

Ugh! I'm so peeved that people would poorly rate a book that probably doesn't even exist but in the mind of its creator!

Here's 5 stars to you Whit!

Won this on Goodreads!

When I entered to win this on Goodreads I just thought it was a typical chick-lit book, a light read. So, when it came I waited and waited and waited even longer to actually pick it up. I had other books on my list ahead of Take Two. How stupid of me to wait! I learned my lesson. Take Two is daring. While it is a romantic comedy and extremely well written, the romance between Matt and Melody is very risky. The entire story, while heartbreaking and hilarious, is different.

Melody is at the alter about to marry the man of her dreams, when he looks her in her eyes and dumps her. After his girlfriend disrupts the wedding. Her tears and heartbreak were so painful to read about. As a woman, every time I read her pain I cringed inside and wanted to STOP. Is that not every woman's worst nightmare? The days and weeks and months afterward, when she'd break down and cry, felt so real. Yet through all her pain, Melody somehow managed to stay strong. She tried going back to work. She moved. She did so much despite her pain. She even let Matt in...slowly.

Matt's an actor engaged to an actress just for publicity. When he meets Melody, he pursues her. Will Matt marry a woman for fame? Or will Melody change his mind? After being left at the alter, will Melody tolerate Matt's engagement? Or decide she refuses to be the other woman?

Ms. Williams created a beautiful, strong and vulnerable character in Melody. How she managed to blend strength and vulnerability into one amazing character is a testament to her talent. As for Matt, well, read for yourself.

From beginning to end, I loved it. I love it so much, I want more. I can't believe I waited so long to read this!

Jilted But Joyful

Next time you watch a romantic comedy where the groom leaves his fiancee at the altar, remember that not everyone in that movie gets the happy ending.

Thank you to Mitsy for recommending this book to me. Take Two is a fun contemporary romance featuring Melody Carter, NYC movie critic. Melody stands at the altar for her lavish wedding to Sean when another woman shows up and snatches her groom away from her. Turns out Sean is in love with this other woman, and he leaves Melody feeling like a jilted character from the romantic comedy movies she critiques. Only this time she's not laughing!

Meanwhile, hot actor Matt Sterling (I love his name) is sick of starring in romantic comedies that fail to showcase his acting ability. All the directors seem to care about is showcasing his muscular torso and abs. His feelings toward big-time actress Selena Ross have changed from affection to annoyance, yet Selena won't give up their relationship due to its smashing popularity.

When Matt meets Melody--the critic who typically bashes his films--he's instantly attracted to her. Though Melody also feels the attraction, she blocks his every advance, still nursing her wounds from being left at the altar. Naturally, Matt keeps pursuing her. This storyline made me think of the book Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat to Dreamgirl - A Woman's Guide to Holding Her Own in a Relationship LOL. I haven't read it yet but the premise urges women to let men pursue them and not vice versa. I guess we always want what we can't have!

I enjoyed the characterization of Melody, Matt, Selena, and Melody's sister Jen. It was great that Melody made a "F-- Sean" playlist. I also like the gift Matt gives her toward the end of the book.

There are some editing issues with this story, but ultimately it's a lighthearted romance where maybe everyone does get a happy ending.

This was my first try at reading a romantic comedy. I had low expectations since it was a kindle freebie, but I honestly loved it and didn't want it to end. I got to 90% and seriously saved the last 10% for right before I went to bed.

Melody's sarcasm is impeccable and very witty. My heart almost broke for her at her wedding, I can't begin to imagine how that would feel... Nonetheless, I love a heroine that's strong-willed and strong-minded, and she is definitely both. The hero, Matt, is a Hollywood star in a fake relationship with another star, Selena. I found their interview with Ryan Seacrest hilarious and I laughed out loud at all of their one on one verbal exchanges and encounters with paparazzi. I loved loved loved seeing Matt pursue Melody. He went completely out of his way! I won't write any spoilers but I enjoyed watching Matt and Melody's relationship develop.

I'm not really sure how the sequel is going to work--there's a preview at the end and apparently its going to be about Selena? I'll definitely read it though.

I'm very careful to not be too critical because its a tad too easy to write a mean little smirk of a review when you're not brave enough to put your own neck on the chopping block. One author told me she felt it was only a matter of time before a writer commits suicide over the evil things written about their work on Goodreads. At any rate...

Keeping in mind I don't expect most books to be Grapes of Wrath I liked this story but wasn't anywhere near as convinced of Matt Sterling as I was the characters in the Midlife Love series. I really loved the heroine but Matt Sterling's inability to tell Selena to "Suck it", allowing their crazy sham engagement to drag on, was tough to buy. Still, a fun little read. Next up, Take Three.

More like a 2.5 star read. The references to pop culture (a-list celebrities, iPhones, iHomes, Skittles, etc) about did me in. I prefer books that are timeless and don't list name brand items (like saying a phone or docking station would have worked in this book) and make up celebrities names so that it isn't a whose who in Hollywood right now.

So, this was a kindle freebie. I thought the premise sounded interesting, the whole jilted bride angle. That would totally suck, btw! Melody is our jilted bride, I was pretty confused about her fiancé Sean. He did ALL these things that seemed like he was head over heels in love with her, but cheats on her and runs off with another girl. I kinda think he got cold feet and will be regretting his decision. In fact, I kept waiting for him to show up trying to win her back. I wanted a bit more closer with him, he seemed to get off too easily. Although, I'm glad she went cold turkey with him and didn't beg for him back or anything. One other thing, shouldn't she have returned all the wedding gifts? I thought it was weird that she kept them when there wasn't a wedding. Maybe it's just me, but I think it was wrong to keep everything.

Anyway, the story is also about super Hollywood star Matt Sterling. The chapters rotate POV. Matt was okay, he didn't come across as a celebrity at all. I even caught myself rolling my eyes a couple times, I don't know. Something was just off for me. As for the romance, it was okay. After awhile it just seemed like they were hooking up all the time. I actually thought they had better chemistry before they got together. I don't know if they have enough in common to really make it, I mean she doesn't even like his movies and was constantly putting down his acting. They had some nice moments though.

Overall, it was enjoyable. I liked the premise and it kept me entertained. I would have liked it more if it had been cleaner, no language and the romance cleaned up a bit more. I also would have like a showdown between Sean and Matt, it'd be nice to see what Sean's reaction was to Melody dating a Hollywood heartthrob.

Content:
Language- handful of swear words, including B and F a few times.
Romance- per www.likesbooks.com it'd be considered "subtle".

It had it's moments. The time line of the story felt a little off to me. At one moment one character would go through a month of story in a chapter. Then it would jump back to the other character. I was never sure how much time had passed by. There was nothing special about this book, it was cute so that is why I am giving it 3 stars.

I guess Mid-Life Love as comparison to this one was not fair. Perhaps Mid-Life Love was beyond expectation. I couldn't bring myself to love, even like, the characters. Though I admit that I liked the cynical Melody, but still, I felt something's off. I couldn't engage myself with Melody and Matt. I couldn't feel the chemistry between them. The happy ending saved three stars from me.

You can't have your cake and it too.
Hero's a douche and what he's doing is cheating even if it was a pretend relationship. I can't believe she even put up with it and became the "second party" when she herself was a victim to cheating.
Anyways, the constant name-dropping of real celebrities bothered me too much. This isn't an auto-bio.

I honestly don’t know how to rate this book… I feel very cheated and the ending was ridiculous.. We had no sex, just hints that they are doing it; half the story was camouflage so that you “have” to read Selena’s story to find out what actually happens to get Matt to man up. I want my hours of reading time back dammit.. it feels like parts of the book is missing; I literally am cussing at this book right now!!

Thankfully your current books leave a better opinion my dear author…. A disappointing read for me, I would have liked at least one description of them doing the dirty sheet dance lol 😂 2.5 stars ⭐️

Anyway, moving on to the next one…….

Pardon my French, but for Whitney G. this was boring AF! I could amost always excuse Whitney's jerk(ish) Heroes and stupid heroines, since fun was what she always delivered. This time... No! Melody just got out of relationship, when her ex stood her at the alter, because of him cheating (dramatic much?), only to fall for Matt - movie star, who is in a fake relationship (when it's probs just him who knows it's fake) with some other actress? As of 55% Melody still thinks he has a baby on the way, when he makes his moves on her.

I really wanted to like this one, but for some reason it never happened. After reading so many books from this author I expected so much more. The story, the characters, nothing felt real, no even funny, it didn't even make sense at times... definitely not so interested on reading the second one...

I enjoyed the humor and lightness in Take Two but as the end was nearing, I got more and more irritated by indecisiveness of the hero. Plus, the ending felt so rushed (probably because the wedding to another woman took up almost the whole book).
