Gives insight into the logic behind the NEP: war destroying big industry to such an extent that it was difficult to provide for necessities --> spurring small exchange --> necessity to allow them else you run against what will happen regardless / simply drives small exchange into a black market status --> development of small exchange leads to centralization, which is necessary for the abolition of commodity exchange / commodity production / capitalism
