Travelling Alone for the First Time is Takagi Naokos latest travel journal, including 35 travel photos. Let your heart go free instead of in restless hesitation. Traveling alone is marvelous. Have fun.
Published back in 2006, this book has a kind of analog, old-school charm that I really enjoyed. As the author mentions in the afterword, there’s a sense that she worries a bit too much about what others think—but that’s also part of the fun. Watching someone who isn’t a seasoned traveler struggle, adapt, and push themselves into new experiences is actually quite endearing.
The illustrations are warm and comforting, which really adds to the atmosphere. Honestly, I think I prefer this earlier version of the author, before she settled into a more “domestic” style in later works.
What can I say, this is a Manga :D It was really interesting!
Basically this mangaka detailed her first year in traveling alone, and shared a lot of tidbits and anecdotes from her adventures. Includes information and website of places that she highly recommends (think of it like a reference travel book)
