What Is Flash Fiction?
Flash fiction is short form stories that can be told in 50-1500 words. Also art, according to FictionBrigade. It's a genre of its own. Not poetry, not quite short stories, but delightful slices of life that can each be read in one sitting.
This was a combination of very short stories, some only a page long. It's not a long read and it's not usually a meaningful one, but some of the stories in this collection were thought provoking or poetic or contain interesting or creative concepts. Most of what I read I had to read a few times to try and get the meaning of the words, but there were some stories, that I honestly enjoyed.
For those who don't know, these stories are creative and defy explanation. This is the kind of fiction that gives life to newspapers or has a doll possessed by a late family member or turns the sun into a living, talking being. Each story is unique and each is worth a read in its own way.
Note: Though this book was a free gift from the author, the content of my review was in no way influenced by the gifting. The book speaks for itself and my review would have been worded just this way even if I'd gone out and bought it. I also give bonus points for Text To Speech enabling on Kindle format.... but that also wasn't a factor in the above review.
"Lucid" is the perfect title for this collection of flash fiction. The imagery the authors used , and the originality of some of these stories formed vivid pictures in my mind. I especially enjoyed the first story; the editors did a good job with deciding to use it as the opener. The only criticism I have is that there were several mistakes with punctuation and missing words.
