Kin picks up where Sprite leaves off. Annabelle is faced with a shocking and heartbreaking revelation about the boy she loved, and the feelings she now has for the boy she is with. Annabelle is also coming to terms with the fact that she is the second Alpha, destined to try to fulfill an ancient prophecy. She and Adrian are in a race to find the clues that will lead to the discovery of Triton's lost shell, which is the key to bringing order and restoring balance. They face constant attack and threats from the Trackers, who are determined to stop them at any cost, and they endure trial after trial in their quest.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship with Adrian and Annabelle develop in Sprite, and even more so in Kin. Annabelle is turning out to be quite the heroine, and Adrian, the beautiful boy who saved her, grows into quite an admirable man. Though their attraction to each other was instantaneous, the relationship itself evolves over time. Just when she is coming to terms with the revelation about Blake, her old boyfriend, he does some things that cause Annabelle to question if his feelings for her were real or not. They are almost out of time, and Annabelle has to choose to save her sister or save a race she has come to know and love. Under constant attack and threat of capture, Adrian, Annabelle, and their friends race against time to save Triton and end the constant threat the Trackers pose, not only on the world under the sea, but also to humanity itself. We are introduced to several new characters in this book, and we get to know the characters from the first book better as well. The story continues with the creative and imaginative writing that Leigh Michael featured in Sprite, and ends up leaving you wondering what the future holds for these characters. This is a really fun series and I enjoyed it. Again, I feel it is something that is geared towards tweens and teens, especially those that love fantasy, mythology, folklore, and merman.

Wow, I did not think that Kin would top Sprite, but it did. Really its just a big book, broke into 2 parts, and it was great that I had Kin ready to read, as it was a bit of a cliffhanger, and was glad to continue this amazing journey with Annabelle.

I do not want to spoil anything, so will keep this spoiler free. I Loved the surprises too, and hope you will as well.
I loved learning about all the different water types in the folklores, and the author’s imagination. The research she must have done for these 2 books had to have been extensive.

These books are so well written too. Such a pleasant read, both of them.

I really liked Annabelle, still, and just loved Adrian even more. We get some major twist in this, that will have you on the edge of your seat. Its great.

I highly recommend both these books, Spite and Kin.
Give them a try. 5 out of 5 stars for me.

I don't know how to feel about this book.

Kin starts just where Sprite left off. Annabelle is left to deal with the profecy of ABA m, after discovering a shattering secret. Now, Annabelle must face these and other many revelations along the way. She has to prepare for a battle that will not only ultimately decide the fate of all the Sprites, but can also change her life one way or another.

I have the same issue with this book, as I had with the first one. I found everything so fast paced. I liked that the story developed itself, but if I think back to what actually happened, the majority of the book was focused on one event. It wasn't a bad book, in fact it was better than the first one, just for that I'm going to rate this book 4 stars. There's something about this book that irritates me that I just... Don't know.

I wasn't connected to the characters at all, in fact I sometimes laughed at how forced some of the dialogue seemed. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the prevalescence of Greek myths and the character development.

The ending of this book has me bothered. This book is supposed to be the last book of the series, yet it ended with an almost-cliffhanger. I know there's an "anthology" that supposedly answers this question, but why would I buy it if I only want to read 10 pages out of 354?

I guess I'll make up my own alternate ending to this series...

I immediately started Kin after Sprite (Book One), particularly because of how Sprite left off with a pretty big revelation. Leigh sucked me in from the begining and I enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between Annabelle and Adrian. Although his affection for her started a long time ago, I believed the process she went through in dealing with a past love and a new one. There was one battle after another, and that worked for me. Some characters died, while others prevailed, all while Annabelle learned how to accept her fate - a perfect recipe. Leigh did a fantastic job with this series and I look forward to reading more of her work.

The Good: Fast paced, lot's of action, and growth of the MC.

The Issue: There were a few instances throughout where I had POV issues, particularly in some of the character's back story. This is also the last book but Kin had an almost-cliffhanger ending, and that surprised me. However, I do know that this lingering question is answered in a follow up short story included in Furthermore, so I can live with it.

The Rating: 4 conch. Fans of magical mythology will truly enjoy this book and the series.

'Kin' is the second book in the Annabelle's Story series and picks up right where the first book left off. The story continues effortlessly from each book into the next, which makes for great flow. The characters grow and gain more depth with the second novel, which makes them all the more realistic and easy to root for.

I really liked how the author explained the back story of the sprite culture and history. She went above and beyond by not just writing about sprites, but including other interesting beings, which I thought added a lot of uniqueness to the series. The series deals with serious issues that all readers can identify with; ones like family, friends, fate, courage, love, and responsibility. It's a fresh voice in the fantasy and young adult genre. This is a wonderfully fun and interesting series that fans of YA fantasy will definitely enjoy!

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I won this book from the goodreads giveaways. The author was very generous in sending me the first book along with the sequel.

This book was like a breath of fresh air. I loved how the author explained the back story of the sprite culture and history. There was all this detail other books seem the leave out.

This series is defiantly a good read for all YA fantasy fans. I really hope a third book comes out.
