The power to save the world, but not his own children...
Mark Carpen has a shifter, a special watch that allows him to travel through time. He uses it to intervene in the past, rescuing the innocent from unforeseen violence and stopping tragic accidents before they can happen — though a mysterious force inexplicably blocks him at times, especially when he’s trying to save someone he loves.
Meanwhile, Alexander Rialto and the assassins under his control have other, darker plans for Mark and the other members of ChronoShift, and a Chase through time has begun to see who will come out on top.
Yet, the question remains: Who is Abigail Cooper...and why does Mark keep seeing her die in his dreams?

3rd in the trilogy. This book has more historical time-travel and also a lot more Christian influence. Imagine going back into time and seeing Jesus crucified! Very good, want to read more!
Unfortunately, this one was nowhere near as good as the first. It started out promising, but the plot went all over the place and nowhere. I still liked the main character Mark Carpen, but most of the other characters got annoying. Hardy in particular was an unsympathetic character in this book, especially his relationships with the women.
It seemed to me like this was actually two books. The first part was exciting, but the second was preachy and unrealistic. I wouldn't want to spoil the book, but let's just say the idea of "God" in this book seems to be a jerk who'll let children die unless you pray to him. The plot also took quite the pointless detour to introduce "God". In fact, if you asked me to summarize the plot, I would be hard-pressed to do so. Basically, the two groups escalate their quarrel from the previous book. A new character is introduced for no real reason. Why the mysterious rules to time travel? Because God. Truly, deus ex machina.
Other than that, the writing seemed to be good technically and edited well enough. No distracting typos or strangely constructed sentences.
I really wanted to like this one. The first book was enjoyable. This one went steadily downhill.
As mentioned in my review of Shift (and others have mentioned) this is a trilogy and both the first and this one just end. This ends a bit better, and it moves better for part of the book, then the previous one. But as with the previous, it dwells too long here and there, losing its momentum and interest. I debated on reading this, but got if for free. I like to read its finale, but it's not in the library and not free from amazon and I'm not sure I wish to pay for it (there are so many like this it could drain my account buying them all), so I'm debating what to do with it.
It definitely has some strengths, and better written then the first, but still fizzles in the long run. I find it a little amusing that authors will have super superior beings with God-like abilities, as long as they don't say it's God--funny that. So I appreciate him just stating their struggles with the concept through the book.
Thank you Amazon Unlimited. I read the first book a year or so ago and LOVED it but was ticked that the author left us hanging with nothing resolved. My library didn't have the book and I wasn't willing to buy it. I felt strongly enough about the lack of completion that I did not want to pay for the next. I resigned myself to never knowing the fate of Mark Carpen (a true shame because he is a lovable character). Enter Kindle Unlimited. A library to borrow from! And they had my book! (Really Zack Mason's book) the first thing I did was download book two! Loved it. Though there were some spots that I got a little lost in the plot twists. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. True to form, Mr Mason left us hanging at the end of this one too, but no worries, Kindle Unlimited has book three!
I finished Chase then bought Turn and am ready to start on it. Once again I must stress that time-travel is my crack. I cannot get enough of it and when I find the good stuff I tend to overdose and that is what I am in the process of doing. The story moved seamlessly into book 2 and I expect no less for book 3. Our three heroes are still doing well although the book ends on a cliff-hanger just like the first one. I have really enjoyed these books and will have to finish the third so I can have some closure in my life. I hope it doesn't disappoint me.
