This paranormal romance is also a debut novel and I have to say, "Well done, Ms. Lyons". Feather had a great storyline (I love angels!) and flowed well, with a nice balance between dialogue, description, and action. There were a few minor editing issues, but nothing that detracted from the overall story. And although the characters are all college-age, the content is pretty PG, so I'm guessing this book would do pretty well with YA audiences too.

One of the strengths of this book is definitely the characters. I loved Nathaniel (aka Angel boy)... he's absolutely perfect. Then again, he is an angel so no surprise there, right? I was torn about Lucy (aka human girl) though. On the one hand, I loved her unique abilities, which definitely had me intrigued. I also loved that she was extremely inquisitive and stubborn, both characteristics that I like (maybe because that's how I am ;o). What I didn't like was that she acted pretty immature on more than one occasion, which always frustrates me to no end. However, she is young so I guess I should cut her some slack. Plus, when push came to shove, she acted like an adult when making difficult decisions, though obviously I won't say if she made the right choices.

I also loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter, ranging from Dante to Jimmy Buffett. Yes, the "Margaritaville" singer even made the book ;o). I particularly liked this one:

"Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." Emily Brontë

The dialogue was also well-written and, at times, thought-provoking. On other occasions, it was straight-up delicious.

"Lucy," he finally said. "My Angel friends would be very jealous of me."

"Really?" she fired at him. "Why?"

"Because," he said as a small smile touched the edges of his lips, "they don't get to do this."

He crossed the tiny room in two strides and grabbed Lucy's face in his hands. Forcefully, he pushed himself into her and they both slammed back into the door. He looked into her eyes and smiled before he lowered his face to hers and kissed her...and it wasn't just any kiss.

See...PG, right? Although the fact that he is an angel makes it even hotter...*wicked grin*

Overall, this was a great read and I am looking forward to the next book in the trilogy. Also, I should let you know that I received a free copy of Feather in exhange for a fair and honest review. The full-length version is on my blog, Nevaeh's New Adult Book Blog (shameless plug, I know;o):

AAhh....paranormal romances. How I just love me a paranormal romance. Now, other reviews have "spoiled" what Nathaniel is, and considering it is a paranormal romance (and the cover is a VERY big clue), I'm assuming y'all can figure it out. But, I'm not about spoilers so if you want to know what he is, read this review, then scout out some others. Anyway, carrying on.....

I absolutely LOVED. THIS. BOOK! I zoomed through it the first time because I couldn't put it down and then had to re-read it because I knew I missed some great moments. (So yes, I have read it TWICE) And the second time I had to stop myself from zooming through it again and pace myself.

I loved many parts of this book and will go into those in a minute, but what I loved most about this book, is it has a strong, female character, like most YA novels, (which this could also be considered NA because of their age) but Lucy doesn't "whine and mope around" thinking "she isn't good enough for Nathaniel and "why does he loves me when he is soooo out of my league"...blah blah....BLAH." Ugh, that crap is really getting to me in YA novels lately, seems to be the theme. Lucy meets Nathaniel and right away there is this chemistry and it's all about them coming together as a couple and facing challenges head on, together. I was able to go deep into the story with them and not worry about all the "teenaged drama angst."

What I LOVED:

- I could relate to the characters feelings and emotion. Their speech, thoughts, reactions...everything was very authentic and I felt I could be Lucy (I think actually I would be more like Anastasia but I digress) or be friends with her.

- There was elements of suspense and mystery. And not so much as what Nathaniel is, you learn that quite early on, but there are some exciting twists and turns to the plot. You are laughing hysterically at Nathaniel and then you are biting your nails wondering what is about to happen.

- It is cleverly written with humour and witty banter. I also love me so humour and witty banter. At times I literally LOL'd at all the characters, they are all enduring and fun to read.

-And last, but certainly not least, the SWOON WORTHY BOYS. #RAWR . That pretty much sums that up....yup. SWOON.

Laurie's second book in The Feather Trilogy, GATES, comes out May 24th and I was lucky enough to get an ARC for it. I have read it and obliviously didn't learn my lesson because I FLEW through it and I am going back to read it AGAIN so I can write a review that isn't me just going....OMG, OMG, OMG....I WANT "X" BABIES....

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the Author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com

This was a very enjoyable well written story. I loved the relationship between Lucy and Nathaniel. You knew they were made for each other but this romance is not one like any other. There is so much standing between them that there is a lot of doubt about them staying together as a couple. Once I started reading I had trouble putting this book down. This is a great read for YA and adults.

I have not been able to put this book down! I absolutely love the characters and really connect with them. I found it easy to picture not only the characters, but their environments. I get shivers (like Lucy) when Nathaniel is around. Best page turner I have read in a long time!

Great debut book by Laurie Lyons. The story/concept is original and compelling. The characters are vibrant and the story has a great flow that culminates with a seat-of-your-pants climax at the end. I look forward to reading all of Mrs. Lyons' future novels!

Finished in just a day! AMAZING!
I have to start by saying I absolutely adore Nathaniel and I have decided that I want him. I might have to fight Lucy for him (and honestly, she might win)...
But I was engulfed by this book. I mean, the concept of Lucy and her photogenic memory and then add in some Angels with a few Demons and BOOM - great story. The characters that Laurie Lyons creates are so captivating and interesting. I grew attached to all of them, honestly. Especially Dr. Hannon! He is just so loveable and his relationship with Lucy really is one similar to father/daughter that my heart swelled each time they were interacting, . That wasn't really too spoilery that it takes away from the plot (I don't think) but anyway...
Pacing was okay. I admit that at times I felt there was a lot of fluff between Nathaniel and Lucy (and I was more interested with the plot and Lucy's role in all of it) BUT, it IS a romance novel so that is to be expected.
The fluff does not in anyway take away from the overall greatness that is the plot, though! And once you get down to the last 100 pages, there is a lot of action going on that I could not stop for a second! Now that I've finished the first book, I have more questions that need answers! AND THAT ENDING! (I need caps there because I was almost in tears...) I WAS SO HAPPY AND GUSHING, ALMOST IN TEARS. Honestly the cutest ending I have ever read! It also makes me excited for the second book because there are still so many questions that need answers and the plot is only growing bigger.
I also must applaud the author for breaching into a small territory of religion in her book. I mean, by no means does it get super religious...it's hard to explain but the author writes it so that it is a religious topic that is not actually religious. Ha, that probably made it more complicated! Sorry. Just know that this is not a religious book, but it touches briefly on a concept of religion - which I loved. (And it should be noted I'm not at all super religious)
If you love the paranormal, with some hot Angels & Demons, and also steamy love, then read this book! It is sure not to disappoint :)

This is one of my favorite books with the angel theme and there are only a few of them which I really liked.

Feather started with Lucy who has been gifted with a photographic memory and later meets Nathaniel only to find out that she is the only who can see him. Their meeting for one thing is no coincidence.

I really loved all the characters in this book well except for one of them (considering there are a lot of demons around). The concept between good and evil and how angels and demons work is pretty interesting as how Nathaniel explained it to Lucy.

Although I enjoyed the main characters at some parts I really hated Lucy's bratty attitude especially towards Nathaniel. Though she knows her faults she still does them and I don't think that would be the last of it.

I really liked Nathaniel's character and especially how Laurie Lyons depicted him. He's personality grounds with Lucy's personality and they are well matched.

Since there are two more books in this series, there's more to the story despite them being together at the end since it's highly likely Roman is involved.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from Lovers of Paranormal.
I actually really liked this story. I liked the concept of angels and demons. Not only that but Lyons added a smidge of individuality in the way that she gave Lucy photographic memory. It helped make the book stand out more.
The only thing that I particularly did not like was the rate of time. In my opinion, time passed too fast in the book. It might be because I read a lot of YA fiction where the chase is the premise of the books. I don't know why but I just hate how she completely skipped several days or weeks into the future.
I also didn't like the random point of views where the narrative will go to to Nathaniel. If was unnecessary but overall this was a good book.

Started off with an intriguing premise; I was hooked when I realized that the wonderkind was having conversations with someone no one else could see. By the time the kissing and hugging started with Mr. Handsome Wonderful, I realized this was nothing more than the author's desire to create college life for herself the way she wished it had been. I was surprised this wasn't marketed as young adult romance. It got silly and went nowhere very slowly. All the superlative laden reviews on Amazon had to be from friends of the author.

Feather has been a great summertime read. I read both Feather and Gates and am looking forward to the third book to see how Lucy and Nathaniel end up.
I loved the characters in Feather and enjoyed the story. I would recommend it to both adults and teens alike. Laurie Lyons has done a great job and I look forward to reading more of her work!

I really have no idea how to review Feather, it's a little hard to do so without revealing spoiler, which I don't want to do even though sometimes I look for spoiler in other reviewers review to see whether I really would like the book. But with Feather, honestly, the book summary explained it all. The book that centers about paranormal love. Once again, like many other reviews I'm sure have said before, unless you are expecting a book who's theme is love, I suggest you don't read it. Don't take it the wrong way, I really loved the book and is worth a 5/5, but that's just me. I tend to go for paranormal romance. I really don't know how to express it any other way. It's those kind of book, where you love them or you hate them. With that aside, another aspect that I loved about this story was that it really made me laugh. I truly enjoy books that can make me laugh and avidly look for them. The only thing that I found not odd, but different, in a good way, was that not only did the book feel like it progressed quickly, especially in the beginning, but the relationship between the two characters went extremely fast. Normally, I like that in a book, but I would have liked for the author to add a little detail into the part when they first meat. It's was basically love at first sight and then the next day after meeting they are already in a relationship. It went a little to fast for me. Otherwise else, I really enjoyed the book. And most importunately, I LOVE Nate. He was perfect! The sad part is, is that I can't go into detail about how AMAZING he is because I would basically be giving the story away. And don't get me even started on the ending, it was tear worthy. It was good enough that a person could read the book just for the ending,in the cabin. Genius, genius, I tell you!!! But in all seriousness, the book was amazperfgreastupendous, no word in the english language to describe how amazing it was. If you are looking for a funny, book that will make you have a new appreciation for the word love, then read this book. Maybe I'm exaggerating a liiiiiiittle bit about how good the book was, but ya this is what happens when I write a review for a book as soon as I'm finished the book.

Feather is a heavenly read, literally.

Lucy has the gift of photographic memory and she can remember every conversation she's ever heard of. This obviously helps her academic grades, but it doesn't help her when she's faced with a problem that she doesn't know the solution to. Let's not forget that not knowing something is a huge thing for Lucy as she's usually known every answer to every question.

Nathaniel is every girl's dream.. Amazing eyes, a sweet and passionate personality, a complete angel. An actual Angel. Too bad Lucy's the only one that can see him.

Life is going great for Lucy. She has her wonderful friends, she has a wonderful future, but she's never had a guy that she's really loved. Sure, she's dated a couple of guys that she's liked, but none of them can really compare to the mysterious Nathaniel.

When the Demons realize that Nathaniel is changing a small place on Earth because of his heavenly connection, how far will Lucy go to keep him with her? Can a mortal come between the laws of Heaven and the wraith of Hell? Can she save his soul?

Feather is a book that you zoom right into. Every page is written so that you just have to continue reading until it's over! At first, it's slow. But once you read on and on, you'll be hooked.

Laurie's writing style is a bit different. It's good, but it is a bit to get used to.

Once you start with Feather, you'll have to continue on and read Gates.

I absolutely LOVED this book!!! First though, I have to say, I came across several spelling errors - although, to be fair, I had converted a pdf copy to an epub and the Calibre conversion could have caused those errors. That being said, Angels and Demons .... With a very different twist in the plot and characters than I have ever read before. Lucy and Nathaniel's characters are so in-depth and so true to real people, their characters were written so well! Add in Roman, Anastasia, and so many other characters that added so much depth to the plot!

The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the ending of the book. It didn't leave a
cliff-hanger, suggesting that a second book was in the works. It could be because maybe a second book wasn't being considered at that time? I don't know. But, even with that, the ending was beautiful. I look forward to reading the second book in the series "Gates" ... which I will be starting next! :)

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the group lovers of paranormal and the author Laurie Lyons.

This book was good! It was really good, the characters were great, and there was just enough oomph to keep me going. Descriptions were pretty good too and the story line is a really really good one. For a novel on Angels this one was more along the lines of what I thought it would be, there is a really strong belief system that is in place here. You can tell that this book is very strongly based on religion, but its not pushed on you. Now where that might deter people from reading it, it shouldn't stop them from picking up this book. The love story in this is breathtaking. And you almost get to experience what a soul mate is supposed to be like. I can't wait to start the next book!

This is a great story about unexpected love and two "people" trying to hold onto it. Lucy is an extraordinary woman. When readers are first introduced to her she seems like a science experiment, but she is so much more than that! A photographic memory would make anyone feel overwhelmed even at the easiest of times. However Lucy also has to deal with the normal every day stress of college. Then she meets Nathaniel. She literally runs into him and things progress fairly quickly. The story is a great one and the characters are intelligent and filled with emotion. The author has ha great way of educating the readers at the beginning of each chapter with a new quote. I found myself looking up the authors of those quotes for more.

This book was gifted for an honest review

First of all, it is very rare that I hand out a 5 on a review. That said, I could not put this book down! I love when fantasy books still use the real world and this one does just that. I enjoyed the connection between Lucy and Nathaniel even though they had struggles. Lucy is a strong female character who learns to sacrifice and not think entirely of herself. That sort of female isn't the most common character these days. I'm very excited for the next book in this series and have already started tell others about the Feather. I wish that I could further explain it, but this book is hard to explain without major spoilers. That's means you just need to read it!

** I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Lovers of Paranormal, LoP**

When I started this book I wasn't real sure how I would like this story. Turns out, I loved it. I really like the premise and how well it was written out. The story line itself is easy to follow and captured me from the beginning. Lucy is one of those characters you love. She's smart, great personality and witty as ever. I adored the chemistry between Nathaniel and Lucy. I would love to be able see my own angel, but my luck I'd get an Ingrid. The other characters were a great part of Lucy's story. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended read.

Free download, I wasn't sure about this book but as it progressed I found myself not wanting to put it down. The idea around Lucy and her ability are great, she has a photographic memory which is incredible. When she meets Nathaniel the connection is obvious but it's not straight forward, however how they feel is and although they deal with many bumps the ending is great. The story, plot and characters are good. I fell in love with Nathaniel, the concept for this book is so different from other paranormal stories. It's a sweet romance with a twist. Would recommend and although part of a series you could finish this book happy.

While this wasn't a terrible story, I found the author's writing style to be a bit juvenile and pedestrian. The English language has so many colorful descriptive words, but sadly were lacking in this narrative. The poor punctuation made it difficult to read.
