2.5 stars - Spoilers

Meh. I kind of enjoyed Last Blood, but that might have been down to me getting to finish off a series rather than the actual book itself. Everything was just so predictable and cheesy — nothing exciting or surprising happened.

-Chrysabelle was a boring cow. I used to like her but she turned into a full blown, run of the mill, dull Mary Sue. She didn't say or do anything remotely interesting.

-I quite liked Mal when he was being all evul and thinking nasty thoughts. Sadly, when he turned back to his normal self he was really dull, all he did was obsess over his pwecious Chrysabelle. Ugh. I was really disappointed that he didn't actually do anything murderous or unforgivable when he was evul - I would have liked some full on EvulMal drama.

-Mal and Chrysabelle's relationship was so blah. They used to be great — they had chemistry, great banter, and loads of tension. But in the last couple of books their romance turned stale.

-Fi was kind of annoying. Her conveniently making a necklace out of the poisoned sand from the arena she fought in to become Doc's wife was ridiculously contrived. It was even more contrived that the necklace went unnoticed by Doc and her friends… Yet that Remo guy saw it straight away. And then on top of that Fi happily gave away the very thing that would condemn her. Ugh, it was all so far fetched.

-There were way too many POV's - I was only really invested in Chrysabelle and Tatiana's arc. Doc, Fi, Dominic, and Creek's arcs bored me to death, they added nothing to the overall story.

All in all, it was just okay. The series went downhill after the first two books, it all became really cliched and predictable.

Kristen Painter's Last Blood, the conclusion to the "House of Comarré" series left me feeling a little uncertain... Not because it was a bad book or because anything was left wide-open but because everything just felt too... easy. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book and Chrysabelle and Mal still had to face a lot of obstacles, but I never felt worried that they wouldn't succeed. I am happy with the way Ms. Painter wrapped up the series, but I just thought there would be a lot more tension throughout the book. Slight spoilers might be in this review, you have been warned!

Chrysabelle and Mal start off the book estranged as a fae removed Mal's love in the previous novel. That's the first problem that Chrys tackles and I have to say that I really thought there would be some kind of fallout from the way she went about things, but no. It kind of makes this plot point seem like a throwaway after such a heart-wrenching cliffhanger because Mal comes back to himself so quickly and easily. They spend the rest of the book trying to get rid of Tatiana and her now grown and very evil daughter Lilith.

Now, I've never been a huge Tatiana fan but I felt like she was duped way too easily throughout this novel. I'm not unhappy with her fate in Last Blood; I just though out she would go out with a bang instead of a whimper. There is a slight twist with the Octavian storyline that just felt oddly placed and almost unnecessary. I would have been fine with leaving things the way they were in the previous book. The Castus Sanguis played a very tiny role in this book and I have to say I was disappointed. I thought there would be some kind of epic showdown with them that would change all of vampire and human kind but again, no. Lilith also wasn't all that terrifying to me. She behaved more like a spoiled child and we didn't actively see anything that would indicate what might happen if someone did stand up to her. Instead, all we saw was her terrorizing people when they weren't expecting it. I don't know, her character just didn't play exactly right for me.

Everything seemed to come so easy for Mal and Chrys and even Doc, Fi, and Creek. No one really seemed like they had to work for anything. Don't get me wrong, all these characters deserved a break after the events of the last few books but the ending was just a little anticlimactic. Don't be fooled by the tag line in the synopsis, "One of them will change sides. One of them will die." -- it's not any of the central characters and honestly, these events kind of felt like throwaways. I don't feel like the landscape of Corvinstrani or New Florida was affected by the events of Last Blood at all. What I had expected to be a wide-ranging battle for change became more of a fight for Chrys and Mal to just live their lives. The Castus Sanguis is still around and I don't see anything stopping them from choosing another vessel like Tatiana and striking again in the future. While I did get a sense of closure about Chrys and Mal and their friends, I didn't really feel any closure with the world as a whole.

I did enjoy Last Blood for the way it wrapped up Mal and Chrysabelle's storyline and I was very happy to see them find some peace finally. I also liked the way Doc and Fiona are settling into the varcolai pack and becoming incredibly competent leaders. The writing was well-done, as usual, and all the character voices familiar and welcome. I have really enjoyed the world Kristen Painter created and all of her creations; I just hope that she doesn't stop here, even if she moves on to completely different characters, because there are so many more stories and plot lines that she could explore.

Thank you to Netgalley and Orbit Books for providing an ARC copy of this book!

Let me start by saying that Painter is a master storyteller. She knows how to keep a reader's attention from the first sentence. It doesn't hurt that the covers for this awesome series are beautiful. I would love a poster of the covers just for the detail that went into them.... that aside, this series is very unique. Think high class blood slaves that are a sort of delicacy to their vampire cohorts. And then throw in ninja training and you'll come close to the Comarre. This series follows one member of the Comarre and her search for family and love outside the courts of the vampire.
I liked this one because it brought everything to a head and the last couple chapters set the stage for the next and last novel. If you haven't read this series yet and you're a PNR junkie like me~ you should give it a try. It's a little edgier than most PNRs, but if you like PNR with a darker side, just try the first one.

I am really disappointed with this book. This series began fast past and dark, but ended slowly with rainbows and unicorns.

The first half of the book is paced so slowly it felt like a chore. The first 200 pages could have been chopped down to 50. Evil Mal was literally out of it the entire time. We never got to see his beast released, or what his curse made him capable of. The obstacle Chrysabelle had to face to turn him back was so easily overcome it was ridiculous. I really wanted to see them struggle to get back to each other, since they didn’t have to earn it their reunion was dull. Even the way it was written fizzled instead of burned.

Fi and Doc’s story was also kind of blah. Everyone finding out that Heaven died due to foul play should have really cast suspicion on Fi and put her in danger. Instead there was no reaction at all from the pack. The only person who was outraged was Heaven’s brother Remo. A terrible villain and unworthy foe. The Scooby Gang has had a harder times avoiding danger while solving a crime.

Creek’s wrap up was an after though and really unnecessary to the overall story. Tatiana seemed to have lost her cunning and ruthless ambition. The Mayor Lola was dumber and dumber as the story went along. There was really no point in making the Chief of Police such a big part of Fi’s story. The series is over why introduce a new character, especially since his personal story had no effect on anyone else. And finally Lilith/Mariela’s story was ripped off from Stargate SG1 except Adria was a much better super villain. Everyone was so worried about her abilities but she caused a minor ruckus and was never a true threat.

The good news is all of the stories were wrapped up in a neat little bow.

Wow! I just finished reading this and I am practically speechless! this book was so amazing it is hard to put it into words! I read it as slow as I could to savoir each word as I knew this was the last book and I didn't want it to be over but now that it is I am filled with contentment. Kristen did an amazing job at tying the series off there were no lose ends and it all ended beautifully and with a bang!..lol

In this book we pick up where we left off with Chrysabelle and Mal at odds. Chrysabelle must save or kill the man she loves to protect that which is even more important to her, a secret that not even Mal is aware of. She will do what she must to save him but if she can't she must kill him.

Meanwhile the ancients now need Tatiana help for the child they stole from her is now reeking havoc on them and must be stopped. Tatiana enlists the help of Mal with the child Lilith who isn't at all what she once was. Together they embark on a perilous mission.

With all hanging in the balance who will survive, who will die and will everyone stay on the same side? Who will be the one to draw Last Blood?

I loved this book! I couldn't put it down! I tried my hardest to read it slowly but it was sooo hard!..lol...Fi was my favourite in this one, she always makes me laugh and in this one was no exception

Like: "sounds awesomely not awesome. Only fae would name a bar after a fairy tale. What is it, one giant tea party?"

lol...she cracks me up! I really liked that we got to see more of her strong, independent and tender sides in this book as well.

Creek also had a few choice lines in this one that made me laugh out loud.

Like: "Somebody better start explaining or its going to get dusty in here."

lol...when he said that I couldn't help but laugh!

Kristen is a full on genius when it comes to writing and I am blessed to call her a friend and on her amazing street team! Her work is an inspiration and I can't wait to read her next book! if you haven't gotten your copy of Last Blood make sure to order yours now!

I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC as I am on the "House Of Pain" Street Team.

Let me start by saying this was my series find of last year. I haven't been along for the ride since the beginning but after seeing the beautiful covers I just had to start reading them and I devoured the first 3 straight through and then had to pace around for months waiting for the 4th one to be released.

Last Blood is the 5th and final installment in this particular series and what a story it is. I was a little nervous to start is as I knew that the end was near, there would be no open hanging cliffs this time for me to obsess over until the next one. Finally I would have some of the answers I have been waiting for and this always comes with mixed blessings.

But I shouldn't have worried. Yet again Kristen Painter takes the story in a direction I could never have seen coming in a million years and yet as I read it I cannot imagine how I ever thought the story could have gone in any other way. None of the "closure" feels forced the way it can when a series is wrapping up and yet nothing was left bugging me that I feel I missed out on.

The story, as with the others is fast paced and action packed and has moments that just make y0u scream at the pages. Heart in throat you are with these characters in every moment, the good, the bad, and the messy.

The book releases on July 30th which gives those of you that haven;t read the first 4 plenty of time to get with the addiction!

In fact .....As a promotion to go with the new release you can get book 1 in the series Blood Rights ON SALE NOW for just $2.99 in all eFormats. A MUST READ for Gothic Fantasy Lovers everywhere!! You won't regret it!

This is the last book of an amazing series that I discovered earlier this year, and the best part is that all the books are now out, so none of that frustrating waiting period between books. I have read many series where the last book leaves you a bit or completely unsatisfied. This series is NOT one of those. You finish this book and think, wow! You will not regret investing time and money into this world, where the author places vampires in sunny future Florida (love the irony here, as these vamps are not twilight vamps, they can't day walk) and make them co-dependent on humans , the very humans that they buy as status symbols and think beneath them, are the ones keeping them alive (are you laughing yet) and throw in a ghost that just will not die-the true death, a girl who is more than she seems but also exactly what she is, oh and start with a murder mystery, and shifters, witches, faeries, an arrow wielding, motorcycle riding hot guy and a vampire with a curse and you have all night reading, can't go to work, hiding in the closet so your kids don't bother you kind of series. Oh and let's not forget a villain you will love to hate. If you can't tell yet I loved the series and this book was worth all the stars it got! This is the kind of book that makes you proud to say, "yeah, I read vampire books, so what? Try this and you will be converted!" This is a vampire book/series for non vampire readers and lovers of vamp lit alike.

Oh how I'm going to miss this series and these characters. This book really tied up things well. There's a lot going on; so many things that needed handling and it was done nicely. I love Chrys and Mal; and Doc and Fi; and Creek and Dominic...shit I loved all of them.
Talk about getting your HEA...I couldn't have asked for better.
Justice was done well for everyone and I mean everyone.
Mal and Chrys have things to settle with Tatiana, Doc and Fi have to find a traitor, Creek wants to be free; Dominic needs to find a killer and Preacher needs to find his daughter. Well hold on folks cause everything is tied up just like it should be.
I can't say this enough: if you haven't read this book...DO IT! If you haven't read this series...DO IT!
I hate the this is the final book; I going to miss these characters and their stories.
Guaranteed Read!
Highly Recommend!

Last Blood was fan-frakkin-tastic and in my opinion the perfect finale to Kristen Painter's House of Comarré series. It truly was everything I needed it to be and then some. After everything that Chrysabelle and Mal have been through, they more than deserved their happily ever after. Full review to come.

Stellar World Building

Rating 4.25/5 Stars
World Building 4.5/5 Stars

The feel of the series as it progressed as gone from riveting, with the first books, to something that resembles a family drama with the last books of the series. I don’t honestly know how I feel now that I have finished Last Blood by Kristen Painter, depressed is a good word. That’s it, I am depressed as I adore this series, and I hate to see it come to an end. “Pouting like Lilith.” For those of you who haven’t read the series here is a series primer:

The Birth of the Comarré

Marked for Service

Plumbing the Depth

Like I said in my review of Out for Blood, I first got hooked on the series when Jeaniene Frost author of the Night Huntress series mentioned the books and author on Twitter last fall. I was very curious about the books, and because of that I bought the series, and the cat was delightfully killed. (Did you get the joke? Curiosity and the cat and all that.) The series is delightful and the romance in the final book Last Blood is in full swing. These are paranormal books; the sex is off page, but Painter makes my toes curl with just a kiss or a look. In Last Blood, at times I felt the plot being rushed trying to tie up to many loose ends all in one book.

Okay this might just be me being pouty, but I wish this conclusion would have gone at a faster pace. I felt there was the urgency I had come to expect in the series. Yes, definately me being pouty. I loved that Fi was back to her fun-loving, fiesty self, which I hadn’t seen since the first book. I loved getting to the conclusion of all the twists and turns of the series. The deaths of characters upset me, and I guess I would have wanted some closure with each of these deaths. These books were always about the fight between good and evil, and yes not everyone supposedly sired by evil wore a black hat, and not everyone on the side of good wore a white hat. They all learned to be true to their own hearts and personalities.

As Mal, the main male lead is a vampire and because of this supposedly inherently evil, wasn’t capable of deep love and friendship. Then you have the Aurelian Nadira, supposedly working on the side of good, who could not have been more like a petulant spoiled child, who wasn’t going to play if she wasn’t in charge. Yes, the lines between good and evil in some of the characters are a little blurry, especially those of the Kubai Mata. The Kubai Mata is a shadow organization that is supposed to protect humans from other natured beings. They smacked “big brother knows best no matter who we kill,” which got my dander up and like Creek, one of their operatives. I never felt loyalty to the organization. Just because a person got bitten by a vamp and turned does that make a person automatically evil? I am of the world that people, even those infected by demons, are given free will, it is how you use that free will that counts. The book Last Blood is all about free will and how the characters choose to wield it. Will they keep on the path they choose or stray and change? Yes, I want more I want to know what type of life Damian (the lead female character, Chyrsabelle’s, brother) makes for himself. I want to delve deeper into the varcoli (shifter society) and learn more about the fate of New Orleans. There is so much more of this world that Painter had created that I want to explore. So I hang my head still pouting and wait to see what Painter writes next, for whatever she does she has a life long reader in me.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales.

Quick & Dirty: This is the last book in the House of Comarre series. Chrysabelle will face her enemies for the last time. The question is whether she will come out the winner against them or lose all that she holds dear.

Opening Sentence: Twenty-four hours.

The Review:

For those of you who have read this series and enjoyed it, I am sad to say this is the last book in the series. Now after saying that, I have to say that I believe Kristen Painter has out done herself with this book. As I stated in my review of Out for Blood, I have not read the first books in this series, even so I think out of the two I read this one was even better than the last and is a must read.

In this book everything is changing fast for Chrysabelle. She has to fight her enemies to find her happily ever after, but there are new enemies that she would never have dreamed of. If she does not find a way to stop Tatiana, Tatiana could destroy Chrysabelle’s future happiness. Thankfully, Chrysabelle has a plan. Unfortunately, with Mal’s love being stripped from him it is looking like she may have to face Tatiana on her own, unless she can find a way to help Mal recover his love for her in time. Will Chrysabelle be able to set her life back in order or will Chrysabelle’s enemies destroy everything?

This book does have its confusing moments when you think about the fact that Mal and Chrysabelle’s story is the main story, and then you have their friends stories added in also. Thankfully, Painter is such a good artist that you can figure out easily who is being talked about at which parts. First, you have Doc and Fi, the local pride leader and his wife. They have to find out who killed the last pride leaders’ wife before Fi is accused and thrown into jail. Then there is Creek, who is indebted to a secret organization set up to protect humans from othernaturals, and is trying to find his way out. To find out if everyone receives what they are looking for you must read this book. The best and worst part of this story is all the surprises that appear. This book kept making me go — wow what just happened? I just wanted to keep reading the story to find out what would happen next. This is a bad thing because it makes it hard to give a good review without giving too much away. I do believe that those who have liked the other books in this series will love this one as much — if not more than the others. For those who have never read this series, I recommend reading it from the beginning to understand what is going on, but definitely read this series.

Notable Scene:

Julie. Where was Julie? Pain fogged her memory. She reached out again. The hand in front of her looked…odd. The cuticles were black, the rest of the hand shriveled and gray. She stared at it, trying to understand who that hand belonged to. Her? That was her hand? The drive to keep moving forward burned in her mind.

The skin burst into flame. A second later the pain exploded through her body. She tried to get to her feet, but her nerves were a melted mess of stinging nettles.

FTC Advisory: Orbit provided me with a copy of Last Blood. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

A solid end to this great series. I rated this an overall 4 out of 5 stars because some things, for this reader, were too quick, without any drama surrounding them. I was surprised by one thing that happened with the baby vamp -- so didn't see it coming.

I wonder if there will be some type of spin off to this series. There is no telling what this great author could dream up for Mal and Chrysabelle's offspring. Here's hoping...

I enjoyed this series but felt it was dragged out with a lot going on with secondary characters and the main story line taking a long time to move along. With the result that I found myself skimming though this one at times just to get to the point where I could see the end outcome.

Fifth and last of the House of Comarré urban fantasy series revolving around Chrysabelle and Mal and set in the fictional Paradise City in an alternate world New Florida in 2067.

My Take
I have loved this series and have devoured each installment as it came out. I expected Last Blood to continue the excitement and was devastated when I got a bit of a ways into this. It was terrible.

Painter had characters acting out of character, going so far over the top that it was unbelievable, and being so gullible, it was terrifying. Preacher's, White's, and Samael's actions were ridiculous. Preacher is so contrary, why on earth would he accept Creek's tattoos as proof or acquiesce to his request so easily? The mayor and her unthinking fanaticism? Her hiring of her new aide?

Reactions were melodramatic: Remo? He's a 20-pound sledgehammer unsure if he's going to bash away or rest quietly in a corner. The blood thing with Mal? Is he really that stupid...I don't think so. We do get hit over the head about Lilith. I ain't buyin' that one either. The Castus being that ignorant? Need I say more?

Oh, please, White actually thinks her daughter was a comarré? In what universe? The Kubai Mata doesn't know that Octavian can swarm?

Now, I will buy how Malkolm reacts to Tatiana's offer.

Painter sets Damian up to be iffy, and goes nowhere with it.

What was the point of all the set-up for the fight between Creek and
Annika?

Why is it that Painter disrespects her own series so much that she weasels out like this?

The Story
A raptor fae has taken Mal's love for Chrysabelle and destroyed her happiness even as she learns what she's gained. She seeks distraction with Fi's help in changing her look and with Fi's encouragement. After all, Fi was one of Mal's ghosts.

Fi does have her own troubles. While Heaven's father seems to have accepted her death, her brother, Remo, has other ideas. Meanwhile, the Kubai Mata step up their interference with a new undercover operative. It's too much, and Creek simply wants out.

The Characters
Chrysabelle Lapointe is a former comarré who has found true independence. Velimai is a wysper fae and serves Chrysabelle as her assistant now that Maris is dead. Jerem is her ursine-shifter driver. Damian is a comar who defected from Tatiana in Bad Blood , 3, and is Chrysabelle's brother. Amylia is the comarré Damian brings with him.

Malkolm Bourreau, a noble vampire who was declared anathema due to Tatiana's machinations, is back to despising the very ground Chrysabelle treads. His voices are back, and...and...he can't indulge them. Sophia is the daughter he had when he and Tatiana were human.

Seven
...is a vampire nightclub run by Dominic, an anathema vampire for whom Maris, Chrysabelle's mother, left the comarré. Mortalis is a shadeux fae who works for him; Nyssa is his partner. Amery is another shadeux fae. Katsumi Tanaka is a vicious vampire who finally got the navitas she wanted. Luciano is Dominic's nephew from the House of Paole. He believes he's helping Dom when he turns the mayor.

Preacher is a day-walking vampire who lives in a church even as he hunts for his human-vampire baby, Mariela.

The Varcolai
Maddoc "Doc" Mayes is the leader of the Paradise City pride and takes on ownership of the nightclub Bar Nine. The ghostly Fiona is now Doc's mate! His only problem? He still bursts into flames when he gets emotional. Isaiah is their butler and a minister of the Church of Bast. Omur, a cheetah-shifter, and Barasa, the pride's chief physician and a tiger-shifter, are on the pride Council. Fritz Haber is the council member who quit. Rodrigo Silva, the São Paulo pride leader, sends his third son, Remo, to Doc as his third councilor.

The Kubai Mata
Thomas Creek is a Kubai Mata agent recruited when he was sprung from prison by them. They own him now, lock, stock, and family. Rosa Mae Jumper, a.k.a., Mawmaw, is Tommy's grandmother, a tribe healer. Kubai Mata is a powerful organization that cares only for its own ends with a mandate to police the othernaturals. Annika is a basilisk who replaces former Section Chief Argent. She introduces Creek to a new undercover operative, Octavian, who has his own agenda.

Police Chief Peter Vernadetto is sympathetic to varcolai issues; he has his own secret.

Lola Diaz White is the mayor of Paradise City who recently became a vampire, and it's gone to her head. Hector is the comar she buys. Valerie is her administrative assistant with a crush on John. John Havoc, a varcolai, is her personal bodyguard (I guess he rejoined after quitting in Out for Blood, 4).

Tatiana is the Dominus of the Tepes Clan, and she's mourning the loss of her "daughter", Lilith, as well as the betrayal of her new husband Lord Octavian Petrescu, who died in Out for Blood. Aaron is her new comar. Lady Daciana is an Elder and one of Tatiana's who escaped in New Florida. Jonah is her comar. Kosmina was Lilith's nanny and replaced Octavian as household chief of staff.

Samael is the head of the Castus Sanguis which created vampires. He removed Lilith from Tatiana's care as she was inadequate for the task.

Lilith is now a rebellious, spoiled teen with too much power.

The New Orleans fae
Khell is the Guardian Chrysabelle put in place in Out for Blood ; Beatrice is his fiancée and an ignus fae. The Claustrum are the fae lands, fatal to humans, where they keep the worst of their own kind. Olivia Goodwin is the vampire queen. Augustine is Mortalis' brother, one unlikely to risk his life for anyone; he lives with the vampire queen. Hugo Loudreux is the elektos Prime who despises Chrysabelle.

Eae is the cherubim who guards the gate into the Garden of Eden. Michael is the archangel with unexpected news, and Chrysabelle gains a favor from him.

The comarré are humans specially bred for the richest, most intoxicating blood. They're then sold for tremendous sums of money to the vampires who can afford it. Only, they have an ulterior motive in their existence. One the vampires would destroy them for if they knew of it. While comarré is an all-encompassing term, it also may refer to a female. A comar is the male. Nadira is the Aurelian, the comarré historian. Madame Rennata leads the Comarré at the Primoris Domus in Corvinestri, Romania.

Kine is how the vampires refer to humans. An ancient term for cow. Varcolai are animal shifters descended from fallen angels and animals.

The Cover
The cover continues the tradition of the ornate black frame with the brocaded bottom panel and the red skulls in the two upper corners and the bottom center. It's the outfit Chrysabelle is wearing that's different. A deep blood red leather with an ornate design and a cutaway back that shows off the golden signum on her back. Naturally, she carries one of her sacres across her back, a sword she's pulling from its sheath.

The title is a nice finish and hopefully it truly is Last Blood.

***Spoilers****

I’m giving this book 4/5 stars. I really liked it. Don’t get me wrong. But there are some things I had an issue with.

For one, I feel like Chrysabella ended up with this weird self-righteous attitude that I didn’t like. I kind of got turned off when she went to see the librarian again and she threatens to kill her. Yeah she tried to kill you but you kind of had it coming.

And another thing, I kind of liked Mal’s evil side before he was changed back. It was kind of nice to see him in a different light.

Also. I was expecting some huge epic battle at the end and all the bad guys dying but that didn’t happen. Kind of threw me for a loop that I didn’t really care much for.

The mayor dying made me happy. I did not like her at all. She seems like she was a spoiled brat who was use to getting her way. I liked that she didn’t get to keep her grandchild. I would have been mad if she did.

All of these things are just my opinions. And they are kind of small matters which is why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

I liked the series though. I hope there are more.

I couldn't decide between 2 or 3 stars. I was eager to see what would happen but it feel so rushed at the end. I mean, we are already on book 5 but everyone was still running around crazy till just about the end. Maybe I just like things finished a bit earlier so I can enjoy the ending a bit.

The series as a whole: there was WAY too much coincidence for me.

Ok I blasted through this book.

It was a fun ride and you do feel like there could be so much happening.

For our mains most of their story is finished and yes I want more.

I know there is a second series in the same world but I really hope at some point the author goes back especially since I would love to meet Mal and Chrysabelle's kid.

But as it stands, the endings were sweet and I am enjoyed my visit to Paradise City.

Since this is the finale I thought it deserved an actual review. Except that this was a very generic finale. There is nothing that happened that you didnt expect. Stuff got settled. Stuff got done.

The side story with Fi, the pride, and the police chief was so unnecessary fluff. It brought NOTHING to the overall story.

I'm not saying this is bad, I'm saying that it is forgettable.

I am not sure.. I have the impression that I read a bunch of useless words, and that this series could have been way better if it was shorter. Too many characters that didn’t add anything To the story... meh!

4.5 stars

Great endings to a really good series. I like how everything tied up in the end. Normally, there are things I that I disagree with how the author wrapped up the series. That was not the case in this series. If you haven't tried this series, I highly recommend it.

I finished all the series and I frocking love it!

Mal and Chrys forever! ❤️

I'm little disappointed in this book probably because it didn't satisfied me, but I love it nonetheless.

I would like it tell of Preacher's reaction to his newly human and no longer vampire. How does he react and how does he feel?

AND...am I missing something? Who's the killer?! (Did I skip and misread......no)

But what about their unborn baby!? How about a little epilogue? 🍼👶 🧛‍♂️ 👼
