Michael Jantze is one of those rare comic strip artists who has both something to say as well as a great talent of saying it in a beautiful and nuanced way. Norm is the world's every man. He is sweet and vulnerable, sincere, playful, and often confused. He doesn't always understand the world in which he finds himself, and sometimes escapes into fantasy in an attempt to make things how they should be. Jantze communicates Norm's world to us with skill and finesse, letting us share in Norm's challenges and successes, his shortcomings and his loves. But he doesn't stop there. He takes pains to make every strip unique, drawing upon popular themes, brands, and modern life to tie into his art in a refreshing and delightful way.

This book contains just Sunday strips, so the book doesn't read as a story. But if you want whimsy and joy in your life, The Norm in Color can help bring it to you.

This is an excellent collection of "The Norm" Sunday strips and they've never before appeared in a print collection. Michael expertly parodies children's books, movies, and more in each strip's opening panel. And then we get to the see the best part of the strip...Norm, Reine, and all of the other characters in all of their glory. I highly recommend this collection to any fan of "The Norm" comic strip...and even if you've never read it before this is a fun read.

Michael Jantze is a very talented comic artist/cartoonist who produced The Norm from the mid-90's through 2006. This is a collection of his Sunday strips, which really shows off his amazing artistic ability and creativity. I hope to see more from him soon.
