Good premise about monsters having feelings just like people, & that it's okay to express them, but idea is not well-executed. Rhyming is okay.

My 5 year old can really relate to this book- although the verbiage may be a bit too old for this age group. The illustrations are nice.

This is a picture book for children that introduces feeling concepts. I think this book would be good for Pre k through Kindergarten. It is a board book with flaps that I think young children will like. It is a brightly colored book that will also attract young children. The story shows non scary monsters havering various feelings and the flap when opened shows another way to think about that feeling. This is a good introduction for young children to start a discussion about their feelings. I gave the book 3 stars. The book was very short and could have included more feeling words. The author includes new vocabulary which is fun for children. However, I think the words envy and malaise may be over the heads of very young children.
