Ryohgo Narita (成田 良悟, Narita Ryōgo) is a Japanese light novelist. He won the Gold Prize in the 9th Dengeki Novel Prize for Baccano!, which was made into a TV anime in 2007.[1] His series Durarara!! was also made into a TV anime, which began airing January 2010
There are two traits found in most of Narita's works: * Narita writes extremely fast, one volume a month if he wishes - with tons of spelling errors and missing words as a tradeoff. The editors like to leave them sometimes just for fun, though. * His work titles often have an exclamation mark at the end (i.e. Baccano!, Vamp!, Durarara!!, etc.).
It hurts my heart that the last book in Narita's indefinitely-hiatus'd would also happen to be the one book that really, finally got me invested in these characters and this world. It's easily the best one; while this one does introduce more quirkly new characters, the conflict is focused on characters I already care about, and their inward and outward struggles feel more grounded here than in previous books. One protagonist is uncertain about his ability to be an adequate vampire lord and boyfriend, while the other just really wants to prove he's a force to be reckoned with despite his disenfranchised status. I would've especially liked to have seen these characters evolve from this point, but at the very least the ending is pretty satisfying and mostly conclusive. Shame neither this series or Etsusa were deemed profitable enough to continue.
