Primal Possession is the second book in the Moon Shifter series. And after reading the first book I just wanted more of this author and this writing. And even though I will say I liked it, I didn't love it like I loved the first book. Maybe my expectations were too high ....I am not sure why I wasn't as immersed as I was with the first book. It was a solid story and there was nothing in the book that bothered me to be honest. It just didn't get to me to that addictive point that the first book "Alpha Instinct" did. I was pretty tired when reading so that probably played a factor in it. Still planning on grabbing up book three.
Primal Possession is a story that features our characters Liam and December. Liam is the Alpha's brother, he is more of a beta of the pack. He is an alpha to the core but not a pack alpha. He has found his mate in December but there is a major problem: one she is the sister to the sheriff who hates shifters and two she doesn't like shifters either. But Liam is determined to show her of of sincerity and affection and that he will stand by her. But there is something in December's past that Liam has no knowledge of.....her brother was killed by a shifter when he tried to protect her from being attacked. But there is a danger not only to December but to her friend (who is heroine in book three) and will Liam stand by December when it matters most?
Primal Possession was a likable great read and I did have a fun time with it. I really enjoyed finally seeing December and Liam get together. We saw the beginnings of their story in book one. I would say read this series in order because each book has hints to the next couple in the next book in the series. So it does help if you read these in order. Which I do kinda like that, it gets you excited to binge on these books.
In Primal Possession it was quite interesting seeing the author's take on a "unrequited love yet fated mates story" and I did enjoy seeing how she handled this complex situation. Now you see that the heroine's distrust of Liam is a given, especially after the trauma of seeing her brother killed in such a way and why her older brother is so protective of her. I did feel though Liam was judged too harshly at times and that December should have told him the truth sooner. Because he doesn't really understand her animosity towards him fully until she becomes more open and honest with him. We do see that she needs that level of trust but I do feel she could have done it sooner because it dragged on throughout the story. I did feel that Liam was a fabulous hero. He never gave up on December even though she treats him horribly at times. He knows they are mates and love seeing his determination to fight for her.
Overall I found Primal Possession to be a treat of a read, it combines beautiful levels of suspense, mysterious elements and intrigue into a emotionally powering shifter romance.

Wow! Things really got dark and intense in this second book of the series. As a story that’s been revised, it had a feel that I absolutely loved. It stirred up all kinds of emotions and kept me on the edge of my seat in a way current shifter books don’t.
December was a heroine that had survived a tragedy and learned to move forward. I wanted to shake Liam a time or two when he shuts her out in order to “protect” her. She was strong enough and I loved watching him come to that conclusion as well.
This has some dark moments, heavy drama and a level of danger for the characters that I didn’t anticipate. We also get the story for a second couple. And holy heck did this author set them up. I’ve already peeked, and their book is next!

Liam has found his mate but December won't accept him because her younger brother was killed because she was involved with a shifter. Now her older brother who is a sheriff will not accept her having a shifter as a mate. So December has been keeping Liam at arms length even though she's wildly attracted to him. She doesn't want to lose her brother because of a relationship with Liam.
It takes December a long time to explain to Liam why she feels she can't be with him and I think she should have been more up front with him about her feelings.
While they are fighting their feelings for one another the APL ( Anti-Paranormal League) who are humans out to destroy Liam's pack and all the humans involved with any of them are causing a lot of problems and putting everyone in danger.
The APL were really bad news and some of those people were worst than others which made the danger they were in that much worse.
There was a secondary romance between Kat and Jayce as well that I really liked. I plan on getting the next book so I can read their story too.

I am officially hooked on this series! This book focuses on December and Liam who we were teased about in book 1 and man am I happy we got their story. This was like a friend to lovers that can never be trope involving shifters.
We pick up right where we left off. Liam has realized that December is his mate and has all but vocalized this to her, but she has made it clear she only wants to be friends for reasons she has not shared with him. December had recently been attacked and almost kidnapped and so Liam has devoted himself to staying at her place since she will not come stay at the shifter ranch with him. There is a dangerous radical group called the AntiParanormal League that has been out to get their hands on people associated with Liam's pack and he is not taking any chances with December.
Meanwhile December loves and hates the fact that Liam has made his intentions clear. She tries to go on a date even to make it clear to Liam that she wants to be friends. However the date takes a turn for the worst and December is almost kidnapped again. She starts to realize that she needs Liam more than she wants to admit in more ways than one. She hasn't opened up to him though to let him know why she is holding back. Her family has had a tragic past with shifters, and she doesn't know if her brother will be able to forgive her if she takes the next step and makes Liam hers. Is it worth it? She decides yes but then of course Liam has second thoughts because he doesn't want to ruin December's future- the third act happens hard. But all is well that ends well- and now she is pregnant with his baby which will be the first pup the pack has had in a long time.
I liked their dynamic a lot. I liked the angst knowing they both want each other but Liam is trying to respect her space and she is trying to protect herself. The buildup was pretty awesome as usual and when things happened they were nice and steamy. These two have wonderful chemistry! I am so glad that Lia got his head out of his ass and decided to commit to his mate. I am enjoying all of these characters and looking forward to Jayce and Kat which are in the next one.

I have to admit. I didn't love Alpha Instinct. But I am glad I gave this second installment in the Moon Shifter series a try, because I enjoyed this one much more.
I was already invested in a Liam-December pairing, since I read the set up for their romance in the last book. Liam is second-in-command to his brother's wolf-shifter pack, and December is the human sister of the town sheriff. The two were attracted to each other from the beginning, but December tried to keep Liam at arm's length. He doesn't know it, but a shifter killed her younger brother and to begin a relationship with a wolf would alienate her surviving sibling in a way she could not bear.
But December is in danger from an anti-paranormal group who has targeted her from her association with Liam. Now he must stay close to her to keep her safe. And the more time they spend with each other, the more he breaks down the walls she tries to maintain around her heart.
I liked Liam a lot. Yes, he is alpha and possessive, but he isn't an overbearing jerk. He tries to see things through December's eyes and makes concessions where he can. He is clearly crazy about her, and he doesn't give up on the connection he knows they have. (Yeah, he does get a little boneheaded at the end, but I forgive him.) I liked December as well, though perhaps not quite as much as I did Liam. It was hard to watch her rebuff him, even though I understood why she did it. The sexual tension is great and the love scenes are awesome.
In addition to the primary romance --and some pretty good action-- there is also a strong secondary story brewing for the next book. Kat and Jayce had me at hello. Seriously, there is so much delicious angst there, I am very excited for their story. I only pray there is no love triangle Aiden. (Please no!!) I will definitely be reading Mating Instinct. Like now.

Can December overcome the fear of her past encounter with a werewolf to give Liam a chance?
The APL is back to being a thorn in the werewolf pack’s side. This time around there is only one main enemy, but the organization consists of several individuals making separate attempts at attacking the pack. They don’t seem super organized, though. It is also implied that there is a bigger boss that is higher up, but we don’t find out a lot about that individual and I’m getting more and more curious.
December is sweet and she is wary of getting involved with Liam, even though she can’t seem to stay away. She slowly starts to trust him and he is always there to look out for her. Their story arc and budding romance are interesting and captivating. Though, I have to admit, Kat and Jayce garnered more intrigue and I can’t wait to find out what is in store for them.
Liam and December’s story wrap up nicely at the end, but there are enough hints at more to come. Again, this is a good, solid read. I can recommend it if you like steamy romance with werewolves.

Having loved Alpha Instinct , the first book in this series, I was more than a little eager to jump straight into the next installment. Primal Possession focuses on Liam, Connor’s brother and second-in-command for the Cordana-Armstrong Pack. He was one of my favorite characters in Alpha Instinct, and his growing attraction to the reluctant December was a main subplot.
Here they take center stage with Liam in full blown “mine” mood, determined to protect December and have admit her attraction to him.
While this attraction is very strong, December’s traumatic past concerning shifters make it difficult for her to see a future. Not only does her brother threaten to disown her if she starts a relationship with Liam, she has an independent streak a mile wide that doesn’t take well to a possessive wolf who’s used to people doing what he says. The action of this book really acts as the catalyst from the romance to start simmering.
Like in Alpha Instinct there is another romantic sub plot, this time featuring Jayce (the enforcer) and Kat. Interestingly, their romantic past and subsequent break up act as an almost cautionary tale to Liam and December, throwing issues into the mix that lead to some very bad decisions. I love how even though there is a main pairing in these books, the subplots are just as exciting, giving great backstory for future books.
The romance is hot and heavy with cosmic attractions and loaded consequences, but it isn’t the total sum of the story. Once again there are multiple points of view, including some of the APL (Anti-Paranormal League). I love the use of these POV. It amps up the tension, showing just what is waiting ‘round the corner for the main characters. It actually reminded me of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and its Lessers.
In Primal Possession the APL have stepped up their game when it comes to the crusade against the pack and all humans who associate with supernaturals. Their actions turn more brutal and desperate as the book goes on, with more than one character suffering greatly their hands.
I really liked the pack dynamics and the open world Katie Rues has created, and in this book it expands. Not only with the complication that come with a human/shifter pairing but also we are also introduced to the Fae. Other races have been hinted at and I can’t wait to learn about them in later books. My only issue with this book (and it’s difficult to fully explain without straying into spoiler territory) is that some of the major character developments in this book happened very quickly. I would have loved to have more detail and a chance for the full ramifications to sink in. Saying that, they are great plot developments and I’m excited to see their future effects on several characters.
These books have a brilliant balance of steamy romance and intriguing plots filled with action. This series has me very excited and I can’t wait to get my hands on the third book Mating Instinct, out in March.

I absolutely loved this book. It was so entertaining from start to end. Katie Reus does a fabulous job of balancing the human / wolf side of her shifter stories. When you are reading her stories you feel like they really could happen. That is how real she makes it! Primal Possession had the right amount of mystery and suspense along with love and passion. I never felt like I wanted to skip over parts because I was ready to get past them. Sometimes books add unnecessary love scenes to spice it up or drag out the suspense to keep you hooked, but this story was balanced perfectly.
In this story we get to see Liam pursue December more aggressively. Liam is a very protective shifter and wants nothing more than to keep his intended mate safe. Because of his warrior/alpha status is it so instinctual for him to make decisions about December’s safety without asking her. This causes him more challenge since he is dealing with a very independent human. The shifter/human aspect was interesting to watch. So far in the series, I thought Liam and December’s relationship was the most fun to read about.
While that relationship was going on the Antiparanormal League (APL) was trying to rid the area of shifters. They tried using humans that were linked with shifters as bait. This series is really starting to come together for me, I loved this installment even more than the first.
In Alpha Instinct I was drawn to Liam, I knew his attraction to December was going to make for an interesting read and I wasn't disappointed.
A shifter and the human sister of the local Sheriff is an interesting combination especially with the APL (Anti-Paranormal League) increasing it's attacks on humans, especially those with strong attachments to shifters. December has already been attacked due to her assumed association with Liam, how will they react when she gives into her attraction? Can Liam keep her safe?
Lots of action in this one, the mystery surrounding who's behind the APL has me really curious. I loved the developing relationship between Liam and December, lots of ups and downs and the ending... Loved it!
This series is really starting to come together for me, I loved this installment even more than the first.

There was nothing about this book that really made it stand out as being all that different than just about any other shifter book on the market. You have your standard pushy, arrogant, alpha male shifter that isn’t all that smart and the weak, ineffective human female that he is stupidly determined to protect, even from himself. That isn’t such a horrible concept, but it is just so typical and common and over done. I didn’t hate this but I also probably won’t remember it a month from now.

December tells Liam they can’t be together even after the times he’s looked out and protected her.
From the past and what happened to her brother. To the APL members going after anyone associated with shifters. She believes it’s best to stay away from Liam and for him to move on. But Liam will never let his mate go.
“Shifters act a certain way around their mates. They might not be officially together, but he feels for her the way I feel for you. I saw it on his face.”
Jayce, the enforcer, is in town and worried about Kat. He will always have feelings for her even though he believes they can never be together.
“Fine, do whatever it is you’re going to do. Just don’t think you can keep pushing me out of your life and think we will have a future together.”
Liam finally convinces December to stay on the farm with him so that she will be protected by him and the pack while the APL is getting more dangerous by the second.
My heart went out to Kat when she was taken.
“I’m sorry. If I don’t at least try this, Jayce will kill me.”
I can’t believe that happened! Now, this changes so many things. I’ve already read the next book so I know what happens😉.
Each book keeps getting better and better from the love, action-packed, mystery. I’m completely obsessed with this series🔥.

Primal possession is a werewolf romance with a fated mate's trope. It follows Liam and December perspectives. December owns and runs her own bookshop and I love that having bookish themes and content in books with also the small town vibes makes the setting as intimate, cozy and close community. I also love the werewolves, pack mentality and fated mates. It's one of my favorite sub genres. The writing style in this book was not for me. I did find it very plain, I wanted more descriptions, details, and back story. So I felt a real lack of connection with the characters, the story and the relationship development between Liam and December. There was a lot of repetitiveness happening too in this book, especially surrounding December. Overall, this book was not for me, missing some key elements I look for and did not leave a real impact on me.

This was alright, but not as interesting as Connor and Ana's story.
Liam and December were okay overall. Liam was rather annoying at the beginning for pursuing December so high-handedly and not taking her wariness and unfamiliarity with his world into account. December didn't have a terribly interesting personality. Thus, I didn't love their romance but I didn't hate it either.
Mostly I liked this book because of the side characters. I'm really interested in Jayce and Katarina's story and I much prefer Katarina as a heroine over December. I also really liked Erin and Brianna.
The suspense was okay but it was kind of obvious that Brianna was a Fianna warrior spying on the Antiparanormal League and that she was using magic to manipulate Edward Adler, one of the leaders.
Overall, though, this was a decent read because it set up the rest of the series pretty well.

december and liam are about to get a whole heap of trouble around them, from decembers brother for dating liam, from the vigilante group who want to force shifters from their towns and both of them at times are fighting their attraction to each other.. though liam knows december is his destined mate, hes in for a rocky road...
another great book in this series cant wait for the next one, the characters are all amazing and well liked

Should shifters and humans be together. Liam and December thought so. Not all humans thought the same and were hunting humans who might mate with shifters. There is plenty of danger for December and Kat her friend. Can her relationship stand the test. This is a pretty steamy relationship and there are plenty of surprises in store for all.

Love the first in this series and the second was even better, it was a great supernatural thriller romance with suspense and loads of sexy wolves so basically a bit of everything.

I was on the fence about this series after reading Alpha Instinct; although I enjoyed it, there were a few elements that would have grated on my nerves in the long-term. Primal Possession has all of the good and none of the bad of its predecessor, plus more action, romance and a kickass ending to boot. December and Liam's relationship is authentic, there's plenty of strong female protagonists in this alpha dominated world and there are enough side stories to ensure that you're never bored.
December is a complex character and even though she's human and therefore "weaker", she doesn't come across as such. She has spunk, guts and a big heart. Her back-story also fits well with the main plot. Liam is very introspective which I found to be an odd quality in a pack's second-in-command but he's also wild because of his wolf. I like that we get to experience the story from both of their perspectives. It helped to avoid any misunderstandings with regards to the female vs. male point of views.
The first few chapters of this book are a trial; I'm not going to lie. Reus tries to jog readers' memories by summarizing key elements from Alpha Instinct. Unfortunately it comes across as a muddled mess and isn't the ideal start to a story. Once you jump that hurdle though, it's smooth sailing from there on in. Even though there are multiple side plots running parallel to the main one, they manage to remain distinct and guarantee that there's never a dull moment in the Moon Shifter universe.
There's a lot more going on in this book than just the main love story. Constant danger looms over the small town of Fontana in the form of the APL (Antiparanormal League). Kidnapping, murder and blackmail are only a few of the weapons in their arsenal. Jace and Kat are dealing with the fallout from their break-up but both still have feelings for each other which makes things complicated. And, there might be a new enforcer in town and their identity comes as quite a shock! You'll never be bored, which means that this book is a real page turner!
I don't give away many 5 paw ratings to Paranormal Romance books simply because yes, sex scenes are hot and all but can only keep me entertained for so long. I need the adrenaline rush too! Primal Possession has it in spades plus a strong plot and mushy love scenes. This book is not to be missed!

This is definitely a series that you want to read in order. You see, Liam met December in the last book, which was when he found out that she was his mate. They went on a date, he saved her life and there was a relationship build-up in that book. Not to mention that Kat, who's another character introduced in the first book, makes an appearance in this book. Well actually it's more of an appearance, she's in it quite a bit and I think it's because her story is next in the series. So, you really need to start from the beginning because Katie builds up these characters in the previous books so that when it's their turn in the spotlight she can take off running with the story.
Now let's talk about the characters. December is the sheriff's sister. Her brother has a hatred for all shifters since one of them not only nearly killed December but actually succeeded in killing their brother who was trying to save her. So his hatred and her weariness towards shifters goes way back. However, December cannot control her feelings for Liam, no matter how many times she tells him that she doesn't want anything to do with him. It doesn't help that any time that there's trouble, he's always right there rescuing her.
Liam is Connor's (previous book) brother. He's seen his brother get his heart broken and then scour the world looking for her. So he knows how hard it can be when you're mate is resistant. However, he's not going to give December an inch of room to even doubt him. Even if she doesn't want him in her life, he will make sure that he protects her at all costs.
These two characters were definitely interesting to read. Not to mention that we had Kat and her possible mate pop up a lot in this book. Kat was always hanging out with December and Liam and so you would see her quite a bit in the book. We also followed the villain in this book which is actually an entire organization of people who's goal it is is to remove not only shifters but the humans who associate with them as well. So with everything that takes place in this book, you were never bored while reading.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

I started reading this series because I won a copy of this book in a giveaway. I have enjoyed them. I really liked this book better than the first one. Perhaps it is because I know the characters and am more invested in them. I'm pretty sure we got a glimpse of the characters for the next book in the series and I'm VERY excited to read their story. The situations and relationship with this couple seemed more believable than the first book. I do like the funny and I could have used more "banter." This had more of a mystery / adventure flavor. I like seeing the growth of the characters and getting to know them more and their world.

December is a human with a tragic death in her childhood which influenced her and her brother against shifters. Now Liam won´t take no for an answer, and she slowly but surely falls for him.
At the same time APL, the AntiParanormal League is targeting all humans who have ties with shifters, so both December and Kat need extra protection.
Great shifter story, par with JR Ward if not even better. (IMHO)
Smutty fluff, action, suspense and Alpha males.

This book not only captivates you from the beginning to the very end, it also leaves you wanting more of the Armstrong Pack! it was Hot, totally melt-worthy and full of surprises, devious plots and intensity that definitely makes you come back for more! I cannot wait to read the next book, Katie Reus makes every book in the series better than the one before! DEFINITELY 5 STARS

This second full-length book (there's also a novella) in Katie Reus' Moon Shifter series reboot is good, though the second half or so was a little meh and rushed. It follows second-in-command wolf shifter Liam and his pursuit of human December. Their pairing began in book one, so we knew it was coming; although I suppose it could be read as a standalone, reading the series from book 1 is probably the better option.
So the same threats are in play here as previously: Human shifter haters out to destroy our favorite puppies and those who love them. The humans even have a hate group (APL), in which most of the men are interchangeable and have typically WASPy names; I kept confusing Joseph and Edward, not to mention Tony and Greg. December is a target due to her connection to Liam (one she fights until she doesn't). Even so, more drama happens to her friend and fellow human Kat than to December. That said, both are captured and beat up with alarmingly frequency.
(Tangentially, December is an unusual name made even more curious by the fact no one asks for the story behind it.)
I liked December and Liam mostly, but I'm afraid December occasionally strays into TSTL territory, and Liam is just an idiot when it comes to his mate. Fortunately, with the latter at least, his idiocy is a known flaw.
Anyway, much like Liam and December were teased in book 1, human Kat and enforcer Jayce's pairing is teased here (plus a tiny bit in book 1 as well). I have to say that I find Kat and Jayce more compelling as a couple than I do Liam abs December. Looking forward to their story next.

Liam and December are such a cute couple!! I haven't read the other books in this series yet but I have loved their story! They were both very well rounded characters who I felt like I knew well by the time the book ended. I cheered for them when they decided to make it work and I hurt for them when the tragedies in their lives happened or were revealed. The "side" characters are also very well done as well. We see Connor and Anna who I assume were in the previous book and I love interconnected stories! Liam wasn't the alpha of the pack but this didn't detract from him and how strong he can't across at all. Sometimes characters can come across as weak when they aren't THE alpha so I really appreciated that in this story. Strong female relationships are always a plus in my book so seeing Kat and December be the best of friends throughout this was great. The lonely, I have no friends, idea is sometimes hard to imagine. I am going to go back and read the previous book and for sure continue this series. If recommend it to others!
The spice in this book was nice. It was kind of a show burn but it was hot when it did happen. Short but sweet is give it a 3 out of 5. Overall I'd give this book a 3 out of 5 as well. I enjoyed it and I would recommend it but Jayce and Kat? I've got to have their story. The way things played out for them in the background of this story was so interesting!! My negative were that it bounced around from POVs A LOT. Like nearly each chapter was a different person. Which kind of detracted from Liam and December because I was so hooked on what the heck was happening with the other couple that I almost was sad when we bounced back to their POV! Other that, this was a solid read. Go check it out!!

I enjoyed it and I would recommend it but Jayce and Kat? I've got to have their story. The way things played out for them in the background of this story was so interesting!! My negative were that it bounced around from POVs A LOT. Like nearly each chapter was a different person. Which kind of detracted from Liam and December because I was so hooked on what the heck was happening with the other couple that I almost was sad when we bounced back to their POV! Other that, this was a solid read. Go check it out!!
