Fandom: Harry Potter Relationships: Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter, Harry Potter/Ginny Weasley, Ginny Weasley/Blaise Zabini, Hermione Granger/Ron Weasley -------------------------------------------------- Post War, Post Hogwarts, HBP spoilers. Right smack in the middle of a stormy divorce from Ginny, Harry has no reason to be attracted to his Arguer, Draco Malfoy. I mean, it's Malfoy.
Lomonaaeren is a fanfiction writer who primarily writes Harry Potter fanfiction. Their work tends to vary widely in terms of theme and genre: horror, humor, pure romance, fluff, action/adventure stories, mysteries, and others. Stories tend to rely heavily on magic and on the psychology of the main characters.
There aren't many books that I've dropped so quickly. In fact, there's never been a book I've dropped in the first 20% or so, but honestly, I guess I'm really anal when it comes to Drarry. Drarry is my baby, I've loved it, cried for it and gone through shit tons of pain for it, so I suppose that's the reason I'm a bit nitpicky. It's not badly written, quite contrary to that actually, but the characters feel so.. wrong? It feels like the author has tried to stay true to the characters, yet add their own spin or just damn failed. I'd like to think I'm open minded, and I truly don't mind if they go off tangent when it comes to the characters (I've read Harrymort, and yepp, Harry's either a sex kitten or evil!Harry in them), but the characters feel so half assed and unrealistic and that just annoys me. I really think this is just a me thing though, so I definitely wouldn't discourage it, however, this really didn't work for me. Take it as you will.
I didn't really feel a connection to this Harry or Draco, and I thought this Ginny was too over the top. I also didn't get the Weasleys siding with Ginny after knowing she cheated and got pregnant, and they still expected Harry to either take her or to pay to support her and another man. They seemed to come around by the end, but too late for me.
Probably 3.5. Lomonaaeren is a scary author. (One not even very hard-core investigative look into the number of fanfics she's got out, along with the sheer length of those babies and she'll go into insta-idol/omigod-you-exist(?) status. It's inhuman. But in a very awesome, scary BAMF way.) On top of her many, many long works, they're all also written with such sparkling talent and detail. I've read a number of her fics, and let's just say, for a free online fic, I think I've only caught one glaring typo out of millions of words. Many published works can't boast the same thing. And her writing is so much on par with published works. Higher-end published works, at that. She's a character-centric writer, so her characters are very believable, and so, very loved. Not to say the plot ever lacks -- no, they are all very interesting. Lomonaaeren is a solid writer, and interest shall never lack with her. This is one of her earlier fics, and contains some character-bashing (namely Ginny Weasley and Blaise Zabini). (My main complaints that docked my rating was the physical romance between Harry and Draco -- Draco was a bit too ... obvious(?) I suppose, in his intentions towards Harry. I'd've liked him a bit more reserved on it. His actions were explained satisfactorily so I'd accepted it reading it, but it still left a bit of dubiousness around. But still a pretty minor thing.)
I have been on a serious Harry Potter fan fic read for the last two weeks. This book is one of the best. It takes it after the movies/books, which gives it an original storyline. Ginny is portrayed in a bad light here, but at the same time it was realistic.
